Geographical Information Systems Application on The Flood Disaster Control in Egypt

Introduction

This is a brief overview of the GIS application on Flood disaster control in Egypt.
The concept is based on "Global risk data platform", an application available on the web. (http://www.preventionweb.net/english/maps/index.php?cid=54)
The application takes into account all global knowledge but we are going to focus purely on the problem of Egypt, it Takes floods and the Water levels then gives a solid base for predicting forthcoming floods therefore giving advance warning enabling preventive action to be taken.

User requirements specification

The user requirements is to have a tool that gives him up to date information’s of floods in Egypt , yes current but also built on vital data which is the historical data. the results the user could get are three:- * Historical information’s (learning about what already happened). * Current information’s (what is going on now) * Future information’s (build on studying the patterns of past and current to help predict when the next flood is.

Data Types

-Background data types are Raster data sets "and" Vector data sets, for we needed both in our project; Raster data is used for the spatial extensions and water fall simulation, while Vector data is used to define points (historical incidents) and networks (roads).

Preview Example

-Foreground data types consists of points and networks, also polygons (lakes or accumulated water) depending on the project needs as we move on with it.

Project Database

1-Incidents (point):- consists of (ID (number), Event (Varchar), Governorate (Varchar), Date (Date), Deaths (Number), Injured (Number), Missing (Number), Houses damaged (Number), Loses $USD (Number), Comments (Varchar))

2-Roads (Network):- (ID (Number), Name (Varchar), One way (Boolean), Bridge (Boolean), Type (Varchar))

3- There will be an entity concerned with water flow and water level and time should be a dimension that affects our data as well, will be illustrated more specifically as the project is implemented.

...The Ten commandments Characters: Moses, Egyptian prince, Hebrew slaves Summary: Shortly after God brought the people of Israel out of Egypt, they traveled through the desert to Sinai where they camped in front of Mount Sinai. Mount Sinai, also called Mount Horeb, is a very significant place. There God met and spoke with Moses, telling him why he had rescued Israel from Egypt. For God had chosen these people to be made into a holy nation of priests for God, his treasured possession. One day God called moses to the top of the mountain and he gave him the first part of his new system of laws for his people - the Ten Commandments. (These Ten Commandments summarized the absolutes of spiritual and moral living that God intended for his people. For a modern-day paraphrase of the Ten Commandments visit: Ten Commandments - Paraphrase.) God continued to give direction to his people through Moses, including the civil and ceremonial laws for managing their lives and their worship. Eventually God called Moses to the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights. During this time he gave him instructions for the tabernacle and the offerings. When God finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him two tablets of stone inscribed by the very finger of God. They contained the Ten Commandments. Meanwhile, the people of Israel had become impatient while waiting for Moses to return with a message from God. Moses had been gone for so long that the people gave up on him and begged Aaron (Moses'...

Covenants

...21 There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him.” The Noahic Covenant represented here is that if Noah would be faithful and build an ark with the measurements that God gave him, He would save Noah and his family when he destroyed the Earth. In the New Testament, these verses are saying that just like God destroyed the Earth with water but saved Noah and his family, he also destroys our sin but saves us with water in the form of baptism. He destroyed the Earth in Noah’s day by flood because sin was running rampant and the people weren’t listening and were not repenting and turning back to God like He wished they would so He would not have to destroy the Earth. In the same way, we were a sinful people and did not repent and realize our sins like we should without being baptized and having Jesus pay for our sins. The water is a very symbolic form of cleansing in both Noah’s day and with our own baptisms as well. Abraham’s Covenant: Acts 3:25 “25 You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’ “ God’s covenant with Abraham was that through Abraham he would bless all in the line of Abraham. History in the Old Testament

...under the following periods: 1. Primeval History Primeval history refers to the earliest history in the Bible. Genesis chapters 1 to 11 are considered the primeval history portion of the Bible. This is the Biblical time period from creation to the flood. The final section of the primeval history of the Bible tells the story of the flood or deluge. Noah and his family were righteous and followed God's instructions, and were therefore spared from death during the deluge. 2. Patriarchal Period (1900BC-1800BC) Though the beginning of Israel’s history as a nation is usually placed at the time of her departure from Egypt, an account of her history must start with Abraham and the patriarchs. Only after Israel had moved across Egypt’s border did she have size and identity with which other nations would have to reckon with, but she already had a history that stretched back through the years to her fathers, Jacob and Abraham. To Jacob the twelve heads of the respective tribes had been born, and to Abraham God had given His promise of a nation. 3. Exodus (1280BC) Exodus is the story of the enslavement of the Israelites in Egypt following the death of Joseph, their departure under the leadership of Moses, the revelations at Sinai, and their wanderings in the wilderness up to the borders of Canaan. 4. Conquest (1250BC-1200BC) The Book of Joshua...

The Answer to a Common Question

...Bamberg Old Testament 20 October 2012 The Answer to a Common Question Today many people do not believe there is a God because of all the bad things that are occurring in the world. They say that if there is a God then these things wouldn’t be happening. Also, people of faith have started questioning God and their own faith because of that same statement. There are no statistics to prove this, so I base it off the fact that I have grown up in church my entire life and seen the impact that it has had not only on congregations but also on my own walk with God. In the past year though I have had a major breakthrough with this thought and am about to share the revelation that I had. God gave Moses the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai (Exodus 19-20) to act as the rules of moral behavior for Israel, Gods chosen people. God said: Thou shalt not have strange gods before me Thou shalt not make for thyself any graven image. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain Remember to keep Holy the sabbath day. Honor thy father and mother that thy days be long in the land which the Lord gives thee. Thou shalt not kill. (translation of this exact text for the word “kill” is debated today) Thou shalt not commit adultery. Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife nor goods. God says in Exodus 19:5 if his people obey his commandments that they would become His “treasured possession”. “As long as...

Father Abraham

...REL 124 – Intro to the Old Testament Essay 1 Gadzalski, Richard J. September 12, 2010 Explain why Abraham is often considered "Father Abraham". Abraham or the Father of Abraham can be trace back to the three cycles of to the Ancestral Story which is organized into major segments collections. Each of these segment collections is called a cycle. The reason for this is that each of these cycles contains a story that revolves around a major ancestral figure representing Abraham, Jacob, or Joseph. The three cycles separate themselves by brief genealogical references of the two ancestral children who branch off from the trajectory of Israel, which were Ishmael and Esau. God actually held out a promise of a home land and a large family for Abraham. Abraham was also called or named Abram. He migrated from southern Mesopotamia to Palestine. His wife, Sarah, because of a famine, moved to Egypt. Abraham and family finally separated due to competing claims of Canaan. God made a promise, or covenant to Abraham that he would fulfill his promise of a few things. First off, his children, which Abraham and his wife Sarah did not have nay offspring. Years would pass that Abraham and his wife could not conceive, so be that Sarah had her husband lay with her servant Hagar. Ishmael was the birth of that conception. God at that time reaffirmed the promise of children to Abraham and Sarah by his implementation of circumcision and gave new names to Abram and Sarah. The divine charge...

Covenant in the Old Testament Sense

...Bridget McKenna Professor Alexander Hwang Religion 123 22 March 2013 Covenant in the Old Testament Sense A covenant in its simplest form is a promise. The Bible refers to covenants many times throughout, most often in the Old Testament. Different stories contain different covenants that God has made with various people in the Bible; each of these stories has an underlying theme that is consistent. The theme is simple; a covenant with God is a promise between God and the people of God that can never be broken. Three main covenants in the Old Testament are those between God and Noah, God and Abraham, and God and Moses. In each of these covenants, God is making a promise to a single person, for the good of all people who wish to listen and to follow Him. In each of these three covenants, there is also a new relationship formed, granting redemption to God’s people, a key element that is common among the covenants with Noah, Abraham, and Moses. There are a few different elements of a covenant and by understanding the different elements of covenants, we are then able to fully understand and appreciate the covenants that are found in the Old Testament. Covenant derives in the Old Testament from the Hebrew word be’rith. There are two different concepts of the meaning of be’rith. The first concept is that be’rith means to select or chose and the second concept of be’rith is a bond or joining together. (Ludlow) Upon looking at these two different meanings of one word, it puts the...

The Lost City of Atlantis

...but over the Mediterranean, Europe and North Africa” (Menzies). The Greek philosopher, Plato, wrote the above description of Atlantis in 355 B.C. Plato had originally planned to write a trilogy of books on subjects such as the creation of the world, the nature of man, the story of Atlantis as well as other subjects. The first book, Timaeus, was completed, Critias, which contains the story of Atlantis, was incomplete, and Hemocrates, was never written (Levy). The story of Atlantis is one of the oldest myths of mankind, a lost paradise and the most popular of all supposed advanced prehistoric lost civilizations. It’s location has been assigned to almost every possible place on earth including Sardinia, Crete, Cyprus, Malta, Turkey, Israel, Sinai, Sweden, Bahamas, Bermuda Triangle, Japan and even Kumari Kandam (“Lost Continent”). In Plato's book, Timaeus, a character named Kritias tells an account of Atlantis that has been in his family for generations. According to the character, the story was originally told to his ancestor, Solon, by a priest during Solon's visit to Egypt. There had been a powerful empire located west of the “Pillars of Hercules” (what is now known as the Straight of Gibraltar) on an island in the Atlantic Ocean. The nation there had been established by Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. Poseidon...

The Goodness of God

...created in the image of God. (Genesis 1:27, "God created man in his own image.") This tells humans that they are required to be good, as good as God.  Exodus 20 describes the Ten Commandments given to the Hebrews by God. Moses received the commandments by revelation from God on the peak of Mount Sinai. They were guidelines given for God’s people to live by. The underlying principle is that humans are to be good and being good means following the Ten Commandments. God's goodness demands that mankind worship only one God and nothing or nobody else "You shall have no other gods before me and you shall not make for yourself an idol." (Exodus 20: 3-4). These commandments show that God is the primary source governing how people should lead their lives because God is entirely good. The Ten Commandments show man how to be good by giving strict guidelines. (Thou shalt not murder; thou shalt not commit adultery; thou shalt not steal). God’s goodness demands a response. It includes the will to punish, so that goodness is combined with justice. The most memorable demonstration of God's willingness to punish is in the case of Noah's Ark. God was displeased with the obedience of man and sent a great flood so that mankind could start afresh. He then forgave mankind by making a covenant with Noah to say that he would never...

Leviticus Analysis

...WORK STUDY ASSIGNMENT LEVITICUS 1 1. In your own words, explain the burnt offering Leviticus 1. The burnt offering in Leviticus 1 is an offering that was given by the children of Israel through Moses from the Lord. The purpose of this offering was about not about a specific sin, but the state of sinfulness . The sacrifice was personal and private. The burnt offering was to take place at the Tabernacle of meeting, (which is the place where the Lord met with his people). Three different types of sacrifices were acceptable as a burnt offering, (bull, sheep, and birds). This allows people of all status to be able to offer a sacrifice. For example, the bull, would be the sacrifice of someone who had a high status, where the birds were the only sacrifice someone of meager ability could offer. Although, this was concerned a personal and private offering, it could not have been performed with the Priest acting as a liaison between God and the offerer. The offering of the bull had to be a young and unblemished male, signifying the pureness of the sacrifice and its limited exposure to any uncleaned food, work, or people. This had to be offered of a person’s own free will. A bull during this time was valuable due to its potential to the owner. By offering it willing a person, could not concerned about what was being killed. You had to bring your best and most valuable life possession as an offering. The offering of the sheep was similar to the bull; the sacrifice...

Quality Management

...ANT250 I Anatomy and Physiology I The Muscular System Module Three Case Assignment 20 May 2013 Professor: Dr. Koronika Q1. Describe normal anatomy/physiology of muscle contraction. Anatomy of Skeletal Muscle: A single skeletal muscle, such as the triceps muscle, is attached at its • Origin to a large area of bone; in this case, the humerus. • At its other end, the insertion, it tapers into a glistening white tendon which, in this case, it’s attached to the ulna, one of the bones of the lower arm. As the triceps contracts, the insertion are pulled toward the origin and the arm is straightened or extended at the elbow. Thus the triceps is an extensor. Because skeletal muscle exerts force only when it contracts, a second muscle a flexor is needed to flex or bend the joint. The biceps muscle is the flexor of the lower arm. Together, the biceps and triceps make up an antagonistic pair of muscles. Similar pairs, working antagonistically across other joints, provide for almost all the movement of the skeleton. The Muscle Fiber Skeletal muscle is made up of thousands of cylindrical muscle fibers often running all the way from origin to insertion. The fibers are bound together by connective tissue through which run blood vessels and nerves. Each muscle fibers contains: • An array of myofibrils that are stacked lengthwise and run the entire length of the fiber; • Mitochondria; • An extensive smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER) ...
