Wgu Professional Roles Paper

...Professional Roles & Values Project Heather Cantrell Western Governors University Nursing has evolved over the years to entail more than just caring for another person. The nursing profession encompasses regulatory agencies, professional organizations, theories, values, traits and a code. The following outlines some of what it means to be a nurse. A. Functional Differences The Board of Registered Nurses is an entity set up to protect the public from nurses and to regulate the practice of registered nurses. It protects the public by: setting educational standards for RN’s, approving nursing programs, evaluating license applications, issuing and renewing licenses, issuing certificates, taking disciplinary action when needed and managing intervention programs. The BRN assists me by keeping me accountable to the pledge I made as an RN to adhere to my scope of practice and maintaining my continuing education units (BRN, 2016). Professional Nursing Organizations, like the American Nursing Association, act as a voice of a nurse to the public and government. The ANA promotes the rights of nurse’s in the workplace, projects a positive view of nursing and lobbies the congress and other health care industries on behalf of nurses. My membership with the ANA personally is a resource to me for workplace issues that come up and ethical concerns I may have. The ANA offers continuing education units in the form of conferences, seminars and articles. I benefit from the ANA by having...

Marketinf Plan

...Final Marketing Plan MKT/421 February 20, 2014 Robert Thompson Final Marketing Plan for Pepsi GO Tea The history of Pepsi-Cola dates back to 1902 when a young pharmacist named Caleb Bradham began experimenting with mixing a combination of juice, spices, and syrups to create a new and refreshing drink to satisfy his customers. In these efforts, he succeeded beyond all expectations inventing the beverage know today as Pepsi-Cola. Our goal is to be the leading producer of healthy products to include our new Go-Tea. Pepsi explored the market and will now launch a new tea for its customers. The Pepsi Go-Tea “will offer a healthier choice of tea containing low sodium, no fat, carbonation, or sugars which is a major concern for the consumer (Tea Fact Sheet, 2013).” Pepsi will make its first priority to appease to the taste of the consumer and to ensure a healthy drink is produced in the most environmentally safe containers. Team B will introduce a new tea, named “Pepsi GO Tea.” Although the Brisk product is a subsidiary of PepsiCo, the company is looking to launch a new product named Pepsi Go Tea. This new tea will be different because the oils that produce the flavor for the teas normally diminish over time. PepsiCo will use loose tea leaves opposed to rudimentary tea bags. The loose tea leaves enable room for the tea leaves to swell and expand with room to infuse their flavors. In contrast, tea bags do not render such an option based...

...Advance concept of nursing I Unit 1 Nursing process The nursing process is an organized sequence of problem solving steps used to identify and to manage the health problems of clients .The nursing process is the framework for nursing care in all health care settings. When nursing practice follows the nursing process, clients receive quality care in minimal time with maximal efficiency. The steps of nursing process 1)Assesment 2)Diagnosis 3)Planning 4)Implementation 5)Evaluation Assessment An RN uses a systematic, dynamic way to collect and analyze data about a client, the first step in delivering nursing care. Assessment includes not only physiological data, but also psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and life-style factors as well. For example, a nurse’s assessment of a hospitalized patient in pain includes not only the physical causes and manifestations of pain, but the patient’s response—an inability to get out of bed, refusal to eat, withdrawal from family members, anger directed at hospital staff, fear, or request for more pain mediation. Diagnosis The nursing diagnosis is the nurse’s clinical judgment about the client’s response to actual or potential health conditions or needs. The diagnosis reflects not only that the patient is in pain, but that the pain has caused other problems such as anxiety, poor nutrition, and conflict within the family, or has the potential to cause complications—for example, respiratory infection is a potential hazard...

What are the things that glue in our knowledge of the world? We are talking about the role of experience in shaping our lives. The rules of learning give us great adaptability. There are three basic types of learning. They are habituation, classical conditioning, and instrumental conditioning. Imagine a worm. When the tide is in, it comes out. It has extensions from its head, getting particles from the outside. So it comes out of its hole to snatch these particles. It has one fear though: seagulls. The worm is delicious to them. They see him and they eat him. The worm has a detection system wired in though. When there is a shadow, he ducks. It is a hard-wired reflex. Sometimes, however, shadows don’t mean a darn, like on a cloudy day. If it doesn’t come out because of the shadows, it will get nothing done and starve to death. Therefore, if the shadows are too frequent, it will ignore them. There...
