During late morning of the 27 of October, 2016, I attended Radiant Messenger, Drawings by China Mark, at the Foosaner Art Museum in Melbourne, Florida. I am made aware of the event through my Art Appreciation class, and attended the exhibition with my classmates and teacher. This was my first time ever attending the Foosaner Art Museum, and was delighted at its elegant interior and cordial staff. My fellow classmates and I were dressed casually, while the staff at the museum was more professional in their attire. Moreover, inside the museum resided the unique fabric drawings by China Marks. Her artwork is made using a common zigzag sewing machine and computerized embroidery machine. She uses fabrics she finds at fabric stores and even fabric…show more content… China Marks even goes to the extent to suggest that these victims could be like Jesus himself, saying they had stigmata and crown of thorns. It could be a suggestion that just as in the past society ignorantly murdered the peaceful, virtuous Jesus, so were these peaceful, virtuous men of color killed. It also implies a confusion of the angels in the afterlife towards the immoral behavior that is still prevalent today. This could be taken literally for religious people, or simply as a chance to reflect and evaluate our ethics and the lack of justice as a humanity from a higher perspective. Because of this powerful message, this is a work of high artistic value. Furthermore, another piece I admired and found great artistic value because of its content was A Page from Alien Princess Diaries. This drawing was made in 2014 and measures thirty seven and a half inches by twenty seven inches. The background is a consistent fabric depicting red flowers and its vines on a dull sap green color. On a small area that represents a piece of floor reside two peculiar female figures. The dialog between the two figures is the
