...England early exit – what must hudgson do? By Ahmed Osman Sort out the defence. England's defence was earmarked as a potential weak link even before they travelled to Brazil - although it should be remembered it was Chelsea captain John Terry's decision to retire from international football and it was not up to Hodgson to plead with him. Hodgson's exclusion of Ashley Cole in preference to Southampton's Luke Shaw was open to more debate as Everton's Leighton Baines struggled. Easy to be wise after the event but was Hodgson's reluctance to have Cole even playing the role of deputy at a World Cup the one major fault in his squad selection? This is an area of the side Hodgson must now revisit while avoiding the dangers of a complete reconstruction in an area of a team that depends so much on partnerships, communication and a mutual understanding. Hudgson must have faith in youngsters. Hodgson has inherited a very talented group of young England players. He must develop with them and ensure he is relevant to them. What Hodgson said about Ross Barkley, occasionally careless in possession and immature in his decision-making, had merit but would it not have been better to encourage this outstanding young talent? It made Hodgson sound somewhat impatient with the development of youth. It is something he will have to get used to because Barkley will be central to his plans for Euro 2016, as will Raheem Sterling, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Shaw and Stones. Arsenal's Jack Wilshere...

...best teams i think i've ever played on, we took 3rd in 5A football. Everyone on the team was friends which made playing as a team that much easier. They also pushed everyone in practice to get better and to focus on their job and their job only. Most people on played one position because everyone was working so hard at the one position. When you workin hard at something it's hard for a coach or an employee to take whatever your doing away. When i was a senior at Blackfoot High School i figure out that not all players understand the game as well as my sophomore years team i had to do a lot more teaching and communicating so everyone could be on the same page and do there job. So not all football teams are alike some take more work to make greatness but this is just some skills that i have picked up along the way from these two outstanding teams that i have played for....

...Have you ever wondered why football teams keep switching to turf instead of natural grass? Well, there are many good reason why they do but there are also many why they shouldn’t. Money is a huge factor of it and I think that is why teams keep switching to turf. Why are teams actually going to turf? Well, money is a big factor of it. It is almost 10,000 dollars to put in turf but after that you don’t have to use much more money. You don’t have to water it, you don’t have to replant seed every two years, and you don’t have keep cutting it like regular grass. An average turf field lasts for about five years while a grass field only lasts for two. Another big reason why people are switching to turf is because there are less injuries that occur. When it is raining and there are a lot of people running around, mud pits form. People will slip in the mud pits and pull a muscle or roll their ankle. On turf, rain doesn’t make it muddy therefore, there are less injuries. On a regular field, the grass gets hard and brittle when the temperature drops. It hurts when you fall on hard grass. (Believe me, i’ve done it.) Turf fields don’t get hard and brittle, they stay pretty soft...

...Pickens vs Pepperell The Pickens Dragons football team traveled to Berry College last Friday to take on the Pepperell Dragons for their second game of the season. Pepperell won the toss and elected to defer giving the ball to Pickens first, and they didn’t take long to turn that first drive into points. On a drive that consisted of five passes, including two long passes to Zach Goss who would catch the last one for a 27 yard touchdown and an early 7-0 lead for Pickens. Pepperell thought would answer on their first drive going on a 10 play drive that ended with a four yard touchdown run. They followed that up with a little trickery on the PAT and managed to convert for an 8-7 lead still in the first quarter. Pickens would not be deterred...

...Building a football team was a lot more work than anyone could know. I loved every part of the job! There were basic tasks like choosing a color, a name, and a mascot. But, there were also more in depth decisions such as location and what other uses the venue would have which required market research. I ended up being the Orange County Otters, based on my market research done on the best location I saw fit. This task helped me appreciate the business side of everything and what real work it took to build such amazing things. This project was not solely based on building the team itself, but also running the stadium. This included: staffing, parking, concession stands, and what the venue would be used for off season so we were still making money. After we had built our football team, we ran simulations where the teams we built would compete against the team's other students in the class had created. Our instructor told us that whoever won the championship game at the end would receive five extra credit points on the final we had coming up. As the games went on I sincerely tried my hardest to keep my team in line, and all other aspects of running a football stadium in tact. In the end, my team had won the championship game. Being able to prove to the class full of boys that a girl can do just as good with this football project, if not better, helped me be more confident in...

...In this essay I will discuss the weight loss program put together for a friend to increase his or her chances of making the football team. In this program we will use operant conditioning to help the subject start to lose weight for his or her goal of making the football team. Operant conditioning is learning controlled by the consequences of the organism’s behavior. The reason operant conditioning is so effective is because of the law of effect. This states that if a stimulus followed by a behavior results in a reward, the stimulus is more likely to give rise to the behavior in the future. We will use reinforcement and a certain schedule of reinforcement to increase the behavior of eating healthy and working out to lose weight. While devising...

...apprentice in his father shipyard then in his 19, he became a labor union activist and an active member of the “Labor Party”. As far as Ferguson’s “the football player” career is concerned, actually, he did not achieve a successful career. In fact, as a player Ferguson started with a small local football team the “Queens Park and St Johnston” club. Afterward, he got the chance to join the “Glasgow Ranger” club, yet this union did not last since he resigned after being responsible for the defeat of his team against its fierce rival the “Glasgow Celtic” club. So determined, Alex Ferguson joined the “East Stirling” football club but this time as a manager rather than as a player. His first management period lasted for three seasons and then was recruited by the Scottish football team “Aberdeen”. With limited resources, Ferguson achieved the unthinkable, he won with his club the “European Winners’ Cup” during the 1982-3 season. This achievement with “Aberdeen” was a milestone in his career and made him “THE” coach that many big names in the European football scene like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal, and Tottenham, wanted to engage him. Ultimately, Ferguson chose to join Manchester United (MU). During his reign, Manchester United advanced from an ordinary local team to a top-class national team. Together they won all the British football trophies: nine Premiership League titles, five FA cups, two League cups, and seven Community Shield cups (Antony Gumi). Furthermore, Alex was successful...

...Branding in Soccer Light and Shadow Branding in Soccer Light and Shadow Introduction “Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that.” (Gloves, S. 2012) This much quoted comment of the former, British football manager Bill Shankly describes exactly my view of football. I am a big fan of the most popular sport in the world. Sure I know that this comment is exaggerated, but football becomes more and more important. Not only for the fans and the sportsmen, also for the global economy. (Hamil, S. and Chadwick, S. 2010) In professional football the success goes hand in hand with money. Today it is almost impossible to win a big trophy like the UEFA Championsleague without investing lots of money. The FC Barcelona is ranked as the best team in the world and invested in the last five years an average of 40 Million Euros per annum in new players. (Transfermarkt 2011) But where does all that money come from? According to Uli Hoeneß, the president of German football club FC Bayern Munich, only 15% of the twelve million DMs (6.1 Million Euros) revenue were out of broadcasting, marketing and sponsoring when he began in 1979 his career as a manager. (RP online 2011) His aim was to make his club independent from earnings from the spectators. As you can see in the following diagram he achieved his aim. In the year 2010 Bayern’s matchday earnings were only 21% of the total revenue. The biggest part is now coming from the commercial...

...Nike Presentation of Facts Surrounding Case Background on Football and the FIFA World Cup: Football (Commonly known as Soccer in the U.S.) was and still is the most popular sport in regards to viewership worldwide. In 2006 it was estimated that the sport of football was played by more than 265 million people, and continuing to grow (These estimates were up from 2000, estimated 42 million). Profession leagues exist throughout the world and the most popular teams were in Western Europe. The history of modern day soccer dates back to 1863, although there was early evidence of soccer being played as a sport in China between the 2nd and 3rd centuries BC. In China, it was mentioned that people dribbled leather balls by kicking it into a small net. Recorded facts also support the fact that Romans and Greeks used to play ball for fun and leisure. (Jetzen, 2013). Background of Nike: Co-founded by Phil Knight (former University of Oregon Track Athlete) and Bill Bowers, initially under the name Blue-Ribbon sports in 1962. After a business relationship ended with their overseas manufacturer, they changed the name in 1972 to what is now known as Nike. In 1975 Nike signed its “first” of many big name athletes in Steve Prefontaine. A local University of Oregon track athlete who at the time who held every known track record from the 2k to 10k meters. ...FUTURE OF BANGLADESH FOOTBALL Throughout history, football has been the most popular sport in Bangladesh. As a fan of football when I think about the position of our football it makes me dishearten. Because I think it should be far more better. It is the high time we should think about our football to make it up to the mark. Compared to the past, the standard of Bangladeshi football has degraded due to mismanagement, lack of support and poor investment. An interest in cricket resulting from the nation’s success in Test Cricket and participation in the Cricket World Cup overshadowed the past fame in the nation’s football. But however this did not affect football’s popularity. More football tournaments are organized in and outside Dhaka than of any other sports and football fever grips the nation during every FIFA World Cup. Federation officials and experts are still hopeful about the development of football in the country in the next ten years despite financial obstacles and lack of professionalism. HISTORY History tells us why football is still popular in the country. During the liberation war in 1971, football was the way to create international awareness about the war of independence. The Swadhin Bangla football team was established which played 16 matches in India and was officially received by the BFF in 2009 The period before the 1990s saw national soccer fever in league football, specifically in the Dhaka League, which possessed club teams which were famous both...
