...Introduction: Defined by Keiser-Neilsen in 1970 [1] [2] forensic odontology, or forensic dentistry, is a branch of forensic medicine which in the interest of justice deals with the proper handling and examination of dental evidence and with the proper evaluation and presentation of the dental findings. Teeth are the most durable organs of vertebrates and mankind’s history of evolution depends hugely on remnants of dental evidence found on fossils. Teeth can persist long after other skeletal structures have succumbed to organic decay or destruction by some other agencies, such as fire [3] [4]. Rugoscopy (study of palatal rugae patterns), cheiloscopy (study of lip prints), tooth prints, radiographs, photographic study and molecular methods like Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) are various methods used in the study of forensic odontology....

...Dr. Roger Jones is a successful dentist but he is experiencing recurring financial difficulties. For example, Dr. Jones owns his office building, which he leased to the professional corporation that housed his dental practice (he owns all shares in the corporation). However, Dr. Jones recently received a registered letter from the Internal Revenue Service threatening to impound his business and sell its assets for the corporation’s failure to pay payroll taxes for the past six months. Also, the corporation has had difficulty paying its suppliers, owing one of them over $200,000 plus interest. In the past, Dr. Jones had solved similar problems by borrowing money on the equity in either his personal residence or his office building. Not surprisingly, Dr. Jones has grown weary of these recurring problems and has hired a local consultant for advice on how to fix his financial problems. According to the analysis of the consultant, the financial difficulties facing Dr. Jones have been caused by the absence of proper planning and control. Budgetary control is sorely needed. To assist you in preparing a plan of action that will help his dental practice regain financial stability, Dr. Jones has made available the financial information describing a typical month in the following table. [pic] .:. Benefits include Dr. Jones’s share of social security and a health insurance premium for all employees. Although all revenues billed in a month are not collected, the cash flowing into the business...

...According to Kotler and Keller, “Marketing is about identifying and meeting human and social needs” (2012, p. 5). Companies use marketing strategies to spark interest, promote, and educate the consumer. A dental company must continuously reinvent itself from a marketing standpoint. In a town with a population of over 117,000 people and over 40 dentists the demand for dentistry is always present, but so is the competition. It is important for a dental office to keep their name at the forefront of dentistry. It is vital that an organization not only creates an exceptional product or service, but also delivers what they promised. An organization is only as good as their consumers perceive them to be, so it is greatly important that their marketing begins in-house with their current patients. There is no more cost-effective way to market than word-of-mouth referrals. Like most businesses in this economy, national dental offices such as Monarch Dental, Kool Smiles, and Familia Dental look at things from a financial viewpoint. As offices that specialize in general dentistry they offer standard dentistry services to their patients. However, several of these companies such as Monarch Dental and Familia Dental, have found they must be...

The aptitude of dentistry is developed through the school, the income, the requirements, and the overall outlook. Dentistry is not just what dentists have learned, but its what dentists are good at. Dentists must be able to listen and understand the patient's request. They have to be able to please the patient. Math and science skills are also necessary to becoming a successful dentist. To be a great dentist, they have to work with the public daily and establish and maintain a relationship with the patients. The patient needs to feel comfortable in this environment, this is why it is vital. They also need the ability to teach co-workers and organize work and patient schedules. ...Windshield Survey Reflection Sherry Roy NUR/405 9/4/2011 Reflecting on the area of daily influence opens the eyes to a new perspective. Looking at communities through the eyes of a nurse creates an assessment all its’ own. Analyzing the events and conditions people live in tells a lot about the person. The nurse can reflect on the surroundings and develop an opinion regarding the patient. The difficulties the community can impose create negative outcomes and or can be productive for the patient; this is revealed in the assessment surrounding the patient. The historical area of the community does have down falls. The paint that was used in the era of older homes and apartments contain lead. Lead, a contaminate to children in the home, school or business is a concern for the community and the nurse. The lead would give the nursing diagnosis of, Risk for Contamination (Household Lead Exposure). Lead exposure in apartments, schools and playground equipment are primary sites for exposure. Nursing interventions would consist of ongoing screening program for lead levels of individuals, agency notification of levels, decrease the exposure to minimize the risk, relocate families to a safe environment, and educate the high-risk people about lead exposure (Polk & Green, 2007). OSHA has standards set in place to regulate the levels of lead exposure. They mandate that areas of lead paint must be removed and for a cleaner environment of the community. The city and...

...Evidence-Based Dentistry Stabilization Splint Therapy for the Treatment of Temporomandibular Myofascial Pain: A Systematic Review Ziad Al-Ani, B.D.S., M.Sc., Ph.D.; Robin J. Gray, B.D.S., M.D.S., Ph.D., M.F.G.D.P.; Stephen J. Davies, B.D.S., M.D.Sc., D.G.D.P.; Philip Sloan, B.D.S., Ph.D., F.R.C. Path. F.D.S.; Anne-Marie Glenny, B.Sc., M.Med.Sci. Abstract: The aim of this review is to establish the effectiveness of stabilization splint (SS) therapy in reducing symptoms in patients with myofascial pain. Searching of electronic databases, handsearching of relevant key journals, and screening of reference lists of included studies were undertaken. There was no language restriction, and unpublished research was sought. The selection criteria were randomized controlled trials comparing splint therapy to either no treatment or another active treatment. Data extraction and validity assessment were carried out independently and in duplicate. Studies were grouped according to treatment type. Twenty potentially relevant Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) were identified. Only twelve met the inclusion criteria. There is insufficient evidence either for or against the use of stabilization splint therapy over other active interventions for the treatment of temporomandibular myofascial pain. However, it appears that stabilization splint therapy may be beneficial for reducing pain severity at rest and on palpation and depression when compared to no treatment. The authors suggested the need...

Matching Manufacturing Capacity to sales Demand Align technology Inc has brought revolution in the technology of dentist field by offering that they can straighten patient’s teeth without metal braces invisibly and effectively. They made invisalign system which operates by obtaining virtual image of patient’s teeth, manipulating these images in prescribed increments, creating positives of these positions and then manufacturing plastic thin negatives of teeth for every stage of treatment which as a result was a clear and removable appliance that straighten patient’s teeth effectively. Operations of this system take place in US, Mexico and Pakistan. Issues These were some factors which effect company sales and demand: * Main issue with Align Inc was that the demand of its product becomes less than its manufacturing capacity so that company was not meeting its financial targets. * In US over 200 million people had malocclusion while less than one percent has treatment from orthodontist which results in less demand of their product. * Many of the customers (Orthodontist, GPD) were not interested in switching from traditional way (Metal braces) toward invisalign system. * The cost of the company was too high then its price which leads toward loss for the company. * Company was just marketing and providing training about its product to orthodontist not to the general practice dentist but many of the case were first go to them and stop...
