...2011changes to the content and format of the CPA exam We are going to cover the changes to the content and format of the CPA exam in 2011. Starting January 1, 2011, there are a lot of changes about the content and format of the CPA exam. Now we are going to look at some major content changes for the four parts of the CPA exam----FAR (Financial Accounting and Reporting), AUD (Auditing and Attestation), REG (Regulation) and BEC (Business Environment and Concepts). For FAR, the most notable is the testing of IFRS, the International Financial Reporting Standards. Candidates must know about the differences between GAAP and IFRS. AUD adds professional responsibilities, which contain ethics and independence testing that is previously in REG. REG adds business structure topics, which is previously in BEC. BEC adds corporate governance topic and redefines information systems topic. In addition to the content changes, the format of the CPA exam has been changed as well. To begin with, the timing of the exam has been changed. Not the overall time, which is still 14 hours total, but the time allocation to AUD part and BEC part. For purpose of more time to complete the new communication tasks, four and a half hours in AUD part has been down to four hours, and two and a half hours in BEC part has increased to three hours. The time for both FAR and REG remains the same, which are four hours and three hours respectively. Now let’s take a look at how it changes for each part of the exam in detail...

...Communications Technology Unit: Animation Task Title: Stop Motion Name: Teacher: Mr Rogers Year: 2012 Term: 3 Date Given: 3/08/2012 Prelim Date: 4/09/2012 Due Date: 14/09/2012 Context for Learning The moving pictures that we see on our television or at the movies are made up of many thousands of still pictures that, when played back reasonably quick, trick our brains into thinking there is movement. Modern video is composed of up to 30 frames per second and seems smooth when viewed. This same effect can be achieved at much lower frame rates and clever use of camera and editing techniques can create the illusion of movement when none really exists. Through these methods animated reality can be achieved, avoiding the need to draw 20-30 frames for every second of video. Assessment Task Design and produce a stop motion animation video. This will involve: 1. Writing a proposal outlining your planned story and how you intend to produce your animation (hand drawn, clay models, Lego/action figures/teddy bears, furniture, etc.) Also explain what equipment and software you plan to use (ask for assistance if uncertain). Follow the format on the next page. 2. Creating a storyboard with enough panels to demonstrate the shooting and editing plan. Follow the format on the next page. 3. Shoot and edit your video sequence using available equipment and software. Add sound effects, dialogue and music. Export as an AVI, WMV or MP4 file format at a high quality resolution saved using the...

...SAMPLE FORMAT FOR TASK 1 PART A *Course Mentor Note on the interpretation/application of the Taskstream Instructions: According to the instructions in Taskstream, you may conclude the task is asking you to include 3 components for Part A of Task 1 which are: 1. Six of seven characteristics 2. Advantages and disadvantages for each business organization 3. Brief description for each business organization Thus, regarding the format for Task 1 Part A for LIT1, the Bullet/Listing approach (mentioned in the Task 1 Instructions) is below, which basically is you’ll describe each characteristic in usually about 1-2 sentences then move on. Example of how to apply this format: SOLE PROPRIETORSHIP: • LIABILITY – (1-2 Sentence Description) • INCOME TAXES – (1-2 Sentence Description) • LONGEVITY/CONTINUITY – (1-2 Sentence Description) • CONTROL – (1-2 Sentence Description) • PROFIT RETENTION – (1-2 Sentence Description) • LOCATION – (1-2 Sentence Description) • CONVENIENCE/BURDEN – (1-2 Sentence Description) As you will note, the subheading is the business form/organization and the bullets are the characteristics you need to describe. Once you’ve done this for Sole Proprietorship then you move on and do the same for the rest of the business organizations as well, which are: • GENERAL PARTNERSHIP • LIMITED PARTNERSHIP (NOT LIMITED LIABILITY PARTNERSHIP) • REGULAR C CORPORATION...
