...DIGITAL BANGLADESH- CAN IT PREVENT CORRUPTION INTRODUCTION : The present fever to launch an extensive digitalization program is sweeping the Bangladesh political, business, and elitist minds. In the face of an overarching outlook of sustainable development the Bangladesh digitalization program runs into some grave questions. The paper points out that ethics as a strongly endogenous force in development is indispensable to keep in view the simultaneity of attaining growth and social justice. These targets are variously manifested in different sectors and quarters of the beneficiaries of growth and development. In this perspective, various comparative works in the literature are invoked toward establishing the essential national wellbeing for alleviating poverty. Wellbeing is established by participative complementarities between economic growth and social justice and their disaggregate manifestations. The digital good must therefore be understood as a socially inclusive empowering good, not as an element of traditional economic theory wherein only efficiency, and thus globalization and maximization behavior, turn out to be of sole attention. The paper introduces a new model upholding participative complementary synergy, learning, and unification by an epistemic guidance of development ethics. Such a model invokes a system and cybernetic approach that combines in an innovative way the analytical with the system and cybernetic view of development. Various facts and figures relating...

...Power and Politics Power and Politics Unit P1: Basic Concepts Unit M1: Basic Concepts Power and Politics Basic Concepts Introduction We need to begin by noting and understanding the definitions of - and interrelationship between - the following concepts: a. Power b. Politics c. Authority d. Ideology The concepts of power and politics are entwined / inter-dependent in the sense that politics - whether of the specifically governmental kind (political parties, pressure groups, etc.), the economic kind (bureaucracies, the organization of the workplace into social hierarchies based upon status, etc.) or the interpersonal (relations between males and females, children and adults, etc) - involves the exercising of power. What we have to begin by doing, therefore, is to define the concept of power (and understand the differing dimensions / aspects of power - coercive power, types of authority and so forth) and relate it to such ideas as: a. The social characteristics of the powerful and the powerless. b. The development of ideological frameworks that legitimise the exercise of power. c. The social effects / consequences of the exercising of power. Explicitly, in relation to politics and power there are two basic kinds of sociological question that we need to explore: a. Who rules in society? b. How is their power created, legitimised and reproduced? In social terms, power, almost by definition, involves the rule by the few over the majority and we have to understand...

...What is power? Abstract The aim of the assessment is to discover what power is. First part of the assessment is going to analyse three dimensions of power and different political theories: Pluralism, Elitism and Marxism. Later on the assessment is going to talk about different forms of state power which are: use of force, authoritative leadership, use of nudge and surveillance. The last part of the assessment is going to criticise the three dimensions of power by using market liberals’ opinion that the state in fact should hold less power and give more of the power to the individuals by privatising public sector. The conclusion states that there is no exact definition of power and that it can be defined in different ways according to pluralists, elitists or Marxists. Introduction The beginning of the assessment is going to explain three dimensions of power and different political theories that associate with these dimensions, these are: pluralism, elitism and Marxism. Later on it will talk about different forms of state power. Explanation The first dimension of power is behaviourism according to Robert Dahl’s famous definition of power is: ‘’A has power over B to the extent that he can get B to do something that B would not otherwise do’’ which means that according to behaviourist philosophes in order to find out where power is we need to study different individuals behaviour. First dimension of power is pluralism. One of the pluralist observes was Robert Dahl who...

...n one of the few in-depth treatments of power in conflict situations, Hubert M. Blalock begins by acknowledging something most of us know but rarely state: "The concept of power is both exceedingly slippery to pin down and yet indispensable in enabling one to analyze...."[1] Having defined power, as in physics, as having both potential and kinetic forms, he opts for the latter usage alone in his text. That is, he acknowledges power as both the capacity of an individual or group to accomplish something, and the actual doing of something, but he limits his discussion to "actions actually accomplished." Additional insights into understanding power are offered by Beyond Intractability project participants. This has two advantages. First, it dovetails with how most of us think about power most of the time. Second, it is easier to quantify. It is much easier to measure something that has occurred than something that is a possibility. An actual occurrence is a fact that can be checked. There may be disagreement on the sources of its occurrence, but the argument about its occurrence is likely to be short-lived if adequate facts can be brought to bear. If one side has won in a disagreement (in that it has gotten the other to do something it wanted), we have prima facie evidence that the first is more powerful -- or at least has exerted more power -- than the second. Since concerns of relative power are important in conflicts, it is helpful to have a clear picture of who has...

...Influencing Group Communication According to Wikipedia, power is a measurement of an entity’s ability to control its environment, including the behavior of other entities. Frequently power is seen as evil or unjust, but the exercise of power itself is accepted as endemic to humans as social beings. In 1959 a study of power was conducted by psychologists John French and Bertam Raven, and at this time power was divided into five separate and distinctive forms. Because leadership and power are closely linked to one another, it was shown how different forms of power directly affected one’s leadership and success. This idea is used most commonly with organizational communication and also throughout most of the workforce itself. The five bases of power that were derived from this idea are coercive power, reward power, expert power, legitimate power, and referent power. Each of these bases of power show different forms that an individual can use or does already use to communicate and ultimately receive what is desired. Out of the five bases of power, three of these bases are classified as formal powers. Formal powers are generally derived by accepted standards and do not have a casual side to them. These three powers are coercive, reward, and legitimate. Coercive power is based upon the idea of coercion; it involves forcing someone to do something he or she does not want to do. This power can be challenging to use because it typically has a negative impact, which can lead to lower...

... Video 1.04 Summary This video talked about the differences in the different form factors motherboards as well as the similarities. It explains for those of us who prefer to build our own systems that we should select our motherboard before buying the tower and after we have selected the CPU. It also explains about the different types of connectors found on motherboards. List Of Topics, Terms And Definitions * Motherboard – The most important consideration, the size and shape is determined by form factor * ATX Form Factor – Replaced the AT form factor, ATX is smaller, easier to work on, better organization, has support for a wide variety of I/O devices, usually has is the P1 20 pin or 24 pin power connector, on the older ATX form factor motherboards were connected via the PS/2 connector at the back of the case, the newer ATX form factor motherboards connected keyboard and mouse via a USB, usually has between two and four DIMM slots, has either PCI E Oren AGP slot but not both, usually has 2 40 pin IDE slots, and usually 1 to 2 serial ATA slots. The ATA form factor was the first to introduce the soft power switch on the front of the computer; the soft power switch does not immediately cut power but instead allows the computer to go through the normal shutdown procedure. There is however a power switch on the back of the computer, flipping the switch immediately kills power. Another important feature is the Wake on LAN function, this is configured in the CMOS...

...After watching the tutorials at the end of our lecture, I have found that there are more types of power then I thought of previously. Some of these seem to be effective, while others seem to be less effective. The ones that I find to be the most effective are Referent and Expert powers, I think it is much benefit in a hardworking approach to power, such as with the referent form of power. You can ensure that things get done in an easy and fair manner. Also with the expert form of power, you ensure that you are also on top of the situation, regardless of the surrounding factors, such as people or other stresses. I would like to believe that I have these types of power, but more commonly in my job, I use legitimate power. In most of the time at work I have to be the one to tell all my fellow employees what to do and how to meet our boss demands, therefore meeting our deadline of work is the most important part. Overall I am seen as the authoritative type of management but my boss is more uses of the coercive form of power, which I think is probably the least effective type. It almost makes me want to perform at a lower level when being treated in that way. When he does use this form of power, there are times where I do use some expert power by not responding in a negative way to his coercive attitude. Being aware of these types of power can able to help me identify which types of method I should use when I am the regarding situations, and it also helps me with my leadership skills...

...People who were asked to contribute with large sums of money began to petition. Pretty soon, sessions in Parliament would turn into bargaining tables, the king granting petitions in exchange for money. However, there were two kinds of petitions, one private and the other public and it was from this last that laws were adopted or legislation originated. The king as head of State could give orders to preserve territorial integrity but not until these royal enactments were combined with public petition that successful legislation ever took place. Even to the present day, this has always been the basis of all successful legislation: public custom is adopted and enforced by the State.[citation needed] Taking into account the arguably significant powers of the State, it is only natural that in times of great crisis such as an overwhelming calamity the people should invoke general State aid.[citation needed] Political representation has helped to shape State administration. When the voice of the individual can be heard, the danger of arbitrary interference by the State is greatly reduced. To that extent is the increase of State activity popular. There are no hard and fast rules to limit State administration but it is a fallacy to believe that the State is the nation and what the State does is necessarily for the good of the nation. In the first place, even in modern times, the State and the nation are never identical. Even where "universal suffrage" prevails, the fact remains that an extension...

...the theme of power and control demonstrated through out the tempest. In “The Tempest” , power is demonstrated through various forms. Shakespeare presents the theme of power through the social power held by Sebastian and Antonio as they demonstrate the abuse of their power towards those they may deem socially lower. Shakespeare also presents power through Prospero’s magic and manipulation as he crafts his return to as the duke of Milan as well as his treatment of Miranda and Prospero. Prospero is a character that throughout the play consistently seeks to maintain and gain power, and as such has sought to regain power that was taken away from him in the form of his dukedom. His study in magic may have been the cause for this loss of control, however to some extent, magic has made sure he has maintained his power. The concrete nouns of “thunder” and “lightning” used as stage directions firstly demonstrate Prospero’s manipulation of the elements through his magic. This ties in with the theme of power as Prospero shows the extent to which his magic can reach. His manipulation of the elements is consistent throughout the play and portrays him as trying to play god in influencing nature, these nouns portray Prospero as a character to be feared as these nouns emphasises the wrath and power of Prospero’s magic. The clause “I made shake” reinforces how Prospero views himself and also how influential and fearsome his magic was. The pronoun “I” emphasises Prospero’s power further as...

...energy that they get their power from. This type of power allows energy to be powered from their homes from solar panels then to win power. Each area is different depending on where you live, for example the power company that my family uses is Georgia power. This company has many different type of energy sources, that helps power not only my home, but many homes here in Georgia as well. Our power company produces 1100 megawatts of renewable energy as well as nuclear energy to help power our home. The main type of energy that they use for and energy source is solar energy. This is one of the most valuable types of energies around. In order to be able to use this energy, you first must use solar water heating system, so that it can absorb the suns energy. For it to do this, solar panels are placed on the roof of your home or apartment complex building, allowing it to get the power it needs to power your home. This method is more preferred to many people here in Georgia, to help get the energy they need into their homes. Hydropower is another form of energy that we use here as well. Hydropower is fuel by the water that fall from the dams. Once powered, the water is then released and begins to generate the power that is needed. The thing that makes this energy the most used energy to date is the fact that it doesn’t pollute the air and all the water that is used isn’t removed from the damn either. The energy from the turbine is transferred to a power transformer, which helps increase...

...computer case is the enclosure that contains the main components of a computer. The size and shape of a computer case is usually determined by the form factor of the motherboard. In computing, "form factor" is an industry term for the size, shape and format of computer motherboards, power supplies, cases, and add-on cards. Most desktop computers have a form factor that is some variant of ATX. A case designed for an ATX motherboard and power supply may take on several external forms, such as a vertical tower (designed to sit on the floor, height > width) or a flat desktop (height < width). Computer cases usually include: sheet metal enclosures for a power supply unit and drive bays; a rear panel that can accommodate peripheral connectors protruding from the motherboard and expansion slots; a power button, a reset button, and LEDs to indicate power status as well as hard drive and network activity. Major component locations * The motherboard is usually screwed to the case along its largest face, which could be the bottom or the side of the case depending on the form factor and orientation. * Form factors such as ATX provide a back panel with cut-out holes to expose I/O ports provided by integrated peripherals, as well as expansion slots which may optionally expose additional ports provided by expansion cards. * The power supply unit is often housed at the top rear of the case; it is usually attached with four screws...
