Ethics are the standards of right and wrong that influence behavior. Ethical behavior is behavior that is accepted as "right" as opposed to "wrong" according to those standards. Ethical problems often take place because of an organization's value system. Values are nearly permanent and deeply held underlying beliefs and attitudes tht help determine a person's behavior. There are four ethical principles, Utilitarian, Individual, Moral, and Justice. Utilitarian ethical behavior is guided by what will result in the greater good for the greatest number of people. Individual ethical behavior is guided by what will result in the individual's best long term interest. This is usually in everyone's best interest. Moral rights ethical behavior is guided by respect for fundamental rights of human beings and Justice ethical behavior is guided by respect for the impartial standards of fairness and equity (Kinicki & Williams, 2012). Values are the permanent held underlying beliefs and attitudes that help determine a person's behavior. An example is fairness by hiring according to ability and not family relations.
