MTV is a well know pop culture media company and they host a web series called, Decoded. Its main host is the YouTube star Franchesca Ramsey. The show itself covers “race, pop culture, and other uncomfortable things, in funny and thought-provoking ways” (Decoded, 2015). Franchesca has a channel called “chescaleigh”, the bulk of her own content is focused around race issues. This program mirrors her own channel, which consists of social justice propaganda, that portrays people who are not white and male as oppressed victims. The content itself is designed to incite anger and violence. Nearly all her content centers around her personal offence towards anything involving or related to American/European culture, and calling it “racist”. Franchesca…show more content… R. R. Tolkien’s books, which are based after medieval Europe times. She calls the movies racist because they have almost all white casts. In her videos, she tries to make racist issues when there are none, such as the color nude and white, and ignores the practical reason of why those colors were chosen in modern medicine and the fashion industry. She thinks it is racist that only white people are on American money, even though this country came in to being via European conquest and colonization. She lives in the United States, is part of that culture, and belittles it. Franchesca Ramsey does not seem to make any strides to conduct any real research. Seeming to only view people for the color their skin and sees those people through a collectivist approach of generalizations.
In her video called 13 Things White People Take For Granted, the opening statement is by an Asiatic man. “It is a white, white, white, world and we get to live in it” (Decoded, 2015). The French ruled over modern day Vietnam and a huge swath of Africa. The Dutch had modern day Indonesia. Belgium had what we now know, as the Congo. The British Empire had India, Burma, Australia, and several regions of Africa. Lastly the USA had the Philippines and several islands across the Pacific Ocean. During this same period of time, the Boxer Rebellion broke out in China. It was caused by a group called the Boxers or Yihequan. “The members of Yihequan focused on the use of traditional Chinese weapons and martial arts.” “Their ritual calisthenics looked like shadow boxing and later earned them the name Boxers, a term dubbed by Western journalists” (The Boxer Rebellion: 1898–1901, 2014). This event was caused by the major world powers, because they were trying to divide Asia like a pie amongst themselves. On top of that there had been a drought and a flood in the Shandong province causing food shortages. Christian missionaries preached the word of God, bought land and built churches on it. A few smaller groups attacked and killed Christians which triggered those foreign powers
