During the 19th Century, as a result of great political turmoil, a new wave of nationalism occurred resulting in a great development of the arts, influencing composers to write music that was identifiable with their countries. These compositions were presented with musical concepts that followed many of the core musical elements of the country's traditional music. Polish composer Frédéric Chopin was one of the first, and most notable composers to implement concepts from his country's traditional music, including musical elements from polish dances, Polonaise and Mazurka, into his own works.
