From American Slave to writer of his own narrative, oratist, abolitionist, and advocate, Mr. Fredrick Douglass is the topic of my Teaching assignment for many reasons. This man was once looked upon as nothing more than a piece of property, an uneducated barbarian, used for the white man as help for what they were too lazy to do on their own. He managed to take advantage of his terrible circumstance and use it for the better. With minimum help he taught himself to be fully literate and by this he achieved in gaining his own freedom.
