May 5, 2015 Free Angela Angela Davis was a Civil Rights Activist that had a lot of impact in United States. She fought for the oppressed and the struggle for Black people. Angela was born on January 26, 19444 in Birmingham Alabama. She already had knowledge of racial discrimination due to growing up in her home town. She was friends with some of the girls who died in the Birmingham church bombing of 1963. She later moved to Massachusetts where she attended Brandeis University. There she studied philosophy and became a master scholar. As a graduate student she attended University of California. Soon after she became a part of several groups, Black Panthers being one but most of her time was devoted to an African American communist group Che-Lumumba Club. Davis got a job teaching at University of California. The administration found out about her relationship with communism. She was then fired, but she fought them in court and got her job back. Davis had become a strong supporter of the Soledad prisoners. Three inmates who were not related, there were John W. Cluchette, Fletta Drumgo and George Lester Jackson. They were accused of killing a prison guard. Many thought they were being accused because of their political beliefs and work. In August 1970 during Jacksons trial an escape attempt was made and several people in the court room were killed. Davis was being convicted of being apart of what happened since the guns were registered in her name. The government tried to publically indicted her, she was placed on FBI ten most wanted list. And was subjected to a therual search which lead to her going ino disguise and going off the map. She came to NewYork where she was identified and then arrested. During her sixteen-month incarceration, a massive international "Free Angela Davis" campaign was organized, leading to her acquittal in 1972.

During Jackson's trial in August 1970, an escape attempt was made and several people in the courtroom were killed. Davis was brought up on several charges, including murder, for her alleged part in the event. There were two main pieces of evidence used at trial: the guns used were registered to her, and she was reportedly in love with Jackson. After spending roughly 18 months in jail, Davis was acquitted in June 1972.

Multicultural Differences

...communicate with. Naturally if we can't seem to understand another person, don't agree, or practice what they do we find people who we do have similarities with. As we are a multicultural nation, priding this country on its diversity, we still stick to our own sub-cultures within the larger culture. In order for people to communicate effectively, there must be steps to take so that we can assure another individual or group doesn't become ostracized. In order to begin this process we need to develop a better strategic flexibility (Hybels, S. 6). There are many factors that go into a multi-culture adapting to each other, but we cannot allow full ignorance and laziness to take over. In the article The multicultural cult, German chancellor Angela Merkel has said "multiculturalism has utterly failed." She goes on to give examples of why it has done so, including taking one group of poverty stricken people and placing them in an area of middle class, thinking they would strive or be better off there. The government didn't realize that without some form of adaptation, this wouldn't and hasn't worked. Instead the people who were placed there didn't know how to adapt to the in place cultural system. This lack of cohesiveness and confusion has only lead to unsuccessful complications, "in countries around the world, and over the centuries, peoples with jarring differences in language, culture, and values have been a major problem and, too often, sources of major disasters for the societies...

Mr Guttenberg

...German Defence Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg has stepped down after he was found to have copied large parts of his 2006 university doctorate thesis. Mr Guttenberg, considered until recently a possible candidate for chancellor, has already been stripped of his PhD. He told a news conference that it was "the most painful step of my life". Tens of thousands of German academics have written to Chancellor Angela Merkel complaining about his conduct. The plagiarism scandal led to him being nicknamed Baron Cut-and-Paste, Zu Copyberg and Zu Googleberg by the German media. But Ms Merkel had continued to stand by him, with her party facing three state elections later this month. Mr Guttenberg told reporters in Berlin that he was relinquishing all his political offices and he thanked the chancellor for her support, trust and understanding. "I must agree with my enemies who say that I was not appointed minister for self-defence, but defence minister," he said. "I was always ready to fight, but have to admit I have reached the limit of my strength." A 39-year-old aristocrat popular with the electorate, Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg is a member of the Christian Social Union (CSU), the Bavarian sister party of the chancellor's Christian Democrats. He came under pressure after a Bremen University law professor began reviewing his 2006 thesis with the aid of the internet. Reports emerged of a passage from a newspaper article that featured word for word, and then of a paragraph...

Literary Essay ''Multiculturalism''

...multiculturalism in Britain has literally failed, because Britain has become one of Europe’s most active bases for terrorists’ spots. One of David Cameron’s biggest statements from his speech is that he claims that the main roots of this terror-problem is that because of multiculturalism has encouraged segregated communities where Islamic extremism can live and live separated lives, apart from each other. One of the problems is also that very religious people live by their own rules and faith, because of their holy scriptures and their religion, that they are having a hard time sticking to the law, democracy, human rights and social integration, because they are guided that much about their faith. He shares these attitudes with Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany and President Nicolas Sarkozy of France. One of David Cameron’s main arguments is that the racism or discrimination is mutual....

She simply sets parameters, and then lets everybody else make ‘choices’ themselves.” Merkel’s leadership style is prudent, democratic, and modest. Positive Re-Enforcement

...PROJ 1194 Winter 2014 Tara Dickenson Assignment 9.1 – Positive Re-enforcement At the beginning of November I had been tracking the delivery of a certain coil required for a product for our customer. The coil’s delivery date was Friday, December 19th, however it did not, nor did it arrive the following Monday. To further add, the original buyer who placed the PO for the coil was on holidays; so I was left dealing with their backup. The backup person is competent, but not familiar with the coil supplier. When the coils had not arrived by Tuesday morning, I sat down with the backup buyer, gave them all of the details and asked them to look into the status of the delivery. Based on the backup’s reaction, I was not expecting very much effort to be made. Later that afternoon, the backup buyer called me. He apologized for how long it had taken for him to get back to me and then that the coils would be arriving the next day. He then went on to say that it was a chore to chase the coil down and it resulted in him talking to 7 or 8 various people from the supplier, the shipping company and our receiving department. It sounded like he had quite the challenge from the supplier, but eventually spoke to the correct person and received the desired information. After thanking the backup individual, I hung up the phone and realized that this was a perfect opportunity to do some ‘positive re-enforcement’. I walked over to his boss’ office and asked him to come with me to...
