HOW FREE RANGE CAN MANAGE TO MAINTAIN ITS "ECO-FRIENDLY OPERATIONS INTERNATIONALLY

Environmental concern has been the recent trend as more companies strive to go green in their operations and production processes. Not to be left behind in this great and powerful industrial revolution is Free Range Company, which was among the starters of this trend since one of its main objectives has always been social responsibility through concern for the environment. Even as Free Range Company plans to roll out to new international markets in France, United Kingdom and beyond, the main question to ask is whether Free Range Company will be able to maintain its eco-friendly operations in the international new markets and how the company will achieve this. The answer to this question is yes, Free Range Company will be able to sustain its “Go green” policy through coming up with effective strategic plans at both functional and business level. The prospects can never be brighter than now for Free Range Company and others of its kind embracing ecofriendly operations. One of the reasons why Free Range Company will be able to maintain its ecofriendly policy is that it will be able to cut down on production cost, especially cost of energy. Going green means adoption of more energy efficient programs, for example cogeneration which involves using the heat of steam used in industries to first generate electricity before channeling it to other industrial uses. This may even form an extra source of income for Free Range Company as the additional energy generated could be injected into the grid for a fee. Another method by which Free Range Company seeks to sustain its ecofriendly policy is through identifying alternative energy sources. For example, it could tap into renewable energy that exists in its news markets. Examples of these include solar energy in markets between the tropics, wind energy and biomass. Free Range could also seek to use hybrid energy in its distribution vehicles and equipment. For instance, it could use vehicles that have both combustion engine and electricity as the mode of propulsion. Adoption of these energy policies will in one form or another help to reduce the level of carbon dioxide emission into the air consequently reducing the outrages of global warming. Another thought is that it can use Endo Vats, an open style hybrid cheese vat, which functions as an all- inclusive vat and finishing table (Kusel, 2014). Another way of achieving this goal of environmental sustainability is by simple energy conservation measures like turning off lights in offices with no occupants, use of sky light to illuminate corridors and pathways in Free Range Company enterprises instead of electricity during the day and utilizing more of bad day light by constructing offices with large windows to let in more light. These small steps that are usually taken for granted could be the longest strides in achieving ecofriendly enterprises and cost savings for Free Range Company. Another incentive that would in one way help Free Range Company maintain it green policy in new markets would be the tax rebates given by some governments in the new international markets (Barrett, 2009). Eco friendly policies by governments are usually given support by government; hence Free Range Company would be able to reap fruitfully from these arrangements since it will get a competitive advantage over its competitors who have not embraced green policies. Going green in its new markets will not only benefit the environment, but also Free Range Company since this policy will enable it to offset competition for scarce resources in the new market. Eco friendly policies at times enable companies to use in an economic way the scarce resources available to reap maximum benefit.
