...well for Tesco, and we had a higher sale than we have today. Investors once called Tesco a darling of the U.K. stock market, until January where everything went down for us. The shares has fallen by 20 percent. After this fall in market shares, my boss the longstanding chief Terry Leahy who have been CEO for Tesco for 14 years, have just gone off. The new CEO for Tesco is Philip Clarke, and it was not a nice sight he met the first couple of weeks. Experts have said that Mr. Clarke need to reconnect with customers and change the business’ culture. We did also launch the Fresh and Easy at the worst time possible, just one year into the financial crisis in 2008. We did also make some obvious mistakes though. We had no coffee in the store, as the first thing in the morning, there was no frozen food as Americans like and so on. That is why investors have called 182 Fresh & Easy stores to fail. The U.S. stores Fresh and Easy did also fail to take off and we did not catch that many customers. Still, we have some big international investors such as Warren G, BlackRock and the Singaporean Government. As a matter of fact, one in every seven pounds spend in UK are spend in one of our stores but we still needed to improve the business. Many customers...

...About Arby's® Arby's® is the place for people hungering for a unique, better tasting alternative to traditional fast food. It's the favorite place for people who crave something different and better. Serving one-of-a-kind menu items, Arby's is well known for slow-roasted and freshly sliced roast beef sandwiches and famous Market Fresh sandwiches, wraps and salads, made with wholesome ingredients and served with the convenience of a drive-thru. From day one, Arby's Roast Beef Restaurants offered an innovative menu, offering guests something other than hamburgers in the newly inspired quick service segment. When foodservice veterans Leroy and Forrest Raffel opened the first Arby's in Boardman, Ohio on July 23, 1964, customers enjoyed roast beef sandwiches, potato chips, and Texas-sized iced teas. To name their new venture, the brothers decided on Arby's, which stands for R.B., the initials of the Raffel Brothers - although many suspect the R.B. stands for roast beef. Leroy and Forrest never looked back. They fine tuned the operation and sold the first franchise to Sam Feldman the following year. Today, Arby's rich heritage is comprised of several multi-generation franchise owners. In fact, Jim Raffel, founder Leroy's son, owns and operates three locations in Maine. The enterprising spirit that originated with the Raffel Brothers has fueled the development of Arby's throughout its 41 year history. The company added an average of 50 restaurants a year in the 1970s while...

I put my Walkman on and said, 'I might as well kick it'. First class, yo this is bad Drinking orange juice out of a champagne glass. Is this what the people of Bel-Air living like? Hmmmmm this might be alright. But wait I hear they're prissy, bourgeois, all that Is this the type of place that they just send this cool cat? ...Transitional Jobs and their Role to Fresh Graduates After a person is done with their university studies, a well paying job is always a mirage. It always seems like a persons’ dream job is always near yet so far. The illusion of a dream job is almost inevitable. This is attributed mainly, due to the fact that our parents always tell us that only by going to school and getting a proper education can we be able to earn a shilling. However, in my view, this is a very misguided opinion. It makes a fresh graduate have a very utopic idea about life. With the increase in population, jobs have become scarce. In particular professional jobs have become almost extinct. The average age of retirement in Kenya was recently increased; in my view, this has made access to jobs by fresh graduates very impossible. However, fresh graduates do not have to rely on job searches –professional job searches- in order to earn that illusive extra shilling. Someone can be very surprised that I actually said that. But wait a minute I explain myself more clearly. When it comes to earning a living, a job is a job. That is why transitional jobs are very handy to a fresh graduate. One has to come to terms with the idea that it may take time to land a professional job. Transitional jobs do not make a person any less professional, in fact they broaden ones ideas on other areas that they are not familiar with. They lessen the load of thoughts that bombard a fresh graduate on how they are going to earn some money...

... What better way to conjure up the simplicity of youth than by memories of my favorite dessert-- strawberry shortcake. The first thought that comes to mind when I think of my favorite dessert is, my grandmother Essie Tolen many of happiest childhood memories come from the kitchen. When I became sad or depressed due to the abandonment of my mother. My grandma knew exactly what dessert to bake to put a smile on my face and comfort my heart. It is a dessert of both meager origins and uncomplicated design. In fact, the basic recipe is so perfect in its original form that few variations have been made and sustained overtime. Very much like the best memories of my childhood, strawberry shortcake is delicious in its pure, unassuming simplicity. The origin of this delicious dessert dates back at least as far as the 1500s, but the evolution of strawberry shortcake is somewhat uncertain. However, records do reveal strawberry shortcake is a European invention. The "short" of the shortcake name derives from the process of adding of shortening or butter to dough to make it tender. Strawberry shortcake parties became popular in the United States around 1850, as a celebration of the coming of summer. The strawberry fever caught up with people as the timing of introducing the dessert clicked and the demand kept increasing every year. Made of fresh ingredients in a few simple steps, it is no wonder strawberry shortcake is so popular throughout the world. It is a perfect dessert...

...Decisions in Paradise Paper, Part I Regina Cobbs-Johnson MGT/350 08/16/2010 James Hudson Decisions in Paradise Paper, Part I Everyone in some part of life time imagine themselves visiting an island, which in your mind is like paradise. Most paradise islands have the white sandy beaches with the palm trees that sway softly as the light clean breeze flow through the air. Many would think of snorkeling, fishing, and swimming all day for relaxation. In the beginning I thought the Country of Kava in the South Pacific was just that island. But once I continued to read about the country my thought quickly changed. In this paper I will explain my real thoughts about the country Kava. I will examine some of the issues with the island. In order to expand the Department of Human Services in Kava I will need to identify the problems and create ideas for the problems that have been identified. Thoughts about Kava Kava may be in the South Pacific but the island, in my opinion, is far from paradise. Nothing was what I perceived it to be. No white sandy beach no anything. In fact everything was a mess including the perspective office that I am to work out of. I think the island is more of a disaster area. Every form of disaster takes place on this one little island I wonder how there is life here at all on this island. I must truly admit there is nothing that I can say that is actually nice about this island. Issues with Island Some issues that I have...

...main aspects of lateral thinking as: The recognition of dominant polarizing ideas The search for different ways of looking at things A relaxation of the rigid control of vertical thinking The use of chance There are dominant ideas in every walk of life – the assumptions, rules and conventions that underpin systems and influence people's thinking and attitudes. The idea that the Earth was flat or that the Earth was the center of the universe are examples of dominant ideas that polarized thought along set lines. Once the dominant ideas are in place everything else is viewed in a way that supports them. A paranoid person sees every attempt to help them as malevolent and manipulating. Someone who believes in a conspiracy theory will explain away any inconvenient facts as deliberately constructed by the powers behind the conspiracy. Most organizations have dominant ideas that polarize their view of the world. It is easy for us to criticize the makers of horse-drawn carriages who thought automobiles were silly contraptions that would never catch on. People now, however, are also the captives of established ideas. A Technique for Lateral Thinking A lateral thinking technique is to write down all the dominant ideas that apply to a particular situation and then deliberately challenge them. For example, the major airlines worked with these beliefs: Customers want high standards of service Issue tickets for all flights Allocate seating in advance Sell through travel agents ...

...Nature of thought Pedro A Prieto PHL/251 Oct 27 2014 Philip Grochmal Nature of Thought Every human is unique. We all have our own thoughts and opinions and we are able to express ourselves in many different ways, as we are also able to learn from each other. No two humans think alike, it could be because of social backgrounds, cultural differences or it could be the way we see things. We as humans express ourselves in many different ways. We can express ourselves by talking, writing a letter, music and art. I think that we express our thoughts because we have something to say as individuals and we want our ideas to be heard, also we have the need to be recognized. “To base thought only on speech is to try nailing whispers to the wall” (Rosenthal, 1994). I try to enhance my memory by reading and remembering things from the past to keep everything fresh on my mind. Lately I have been trying some memory games like luminosity and brain academy, I found that my memory has improved in certain areas. Last year I thought my daughter was going to graduate in December but the reality was that she was not going to graduate on time, my perception was that I thought that her studies were on track. The reality was that she did not tell me that she failed one of her classes and she had to retake it in order to graduate. There was a difference between my perception and reality because I was misinformed. I felt empowered by my language because I was able to communicate...

...invade Iraq the United States still declared war with Iraq. Once the war began the inspectors began to look for the weapon of mass destruction. After several months it was crystal clear the country had no weapons of mass destruction. By thinking critically and creatively the United States could have prevented a war thus, saving of trillions of dollars and thousands of lives. 2. Define free will, truth, knowledge, and opinion. Explain how we use them to form thoughts. Free will is defined as choosing to make a decision and do what he or she please at any time. Free will gives a person the ability to change his or her choices. Truth is defined as “what is so about something, the reality of the matter, as distinguished from what people wish were so, believe to be so, or assert to be so” (Ruggiero, 2009). Knowledge is by personal experience, observation, and report from other. We have faults and are affected by memories or remembering but knowledge can lead to the truth. Opinions are someone’s personal feelings or thought on a subject. Free will gives him or her opportunity to have their own beliefs and knowledge knowing the truth and understanding it. Free will, knowledge, truth, and opinion plays a role in critical thinking process, they will influence and improve decision...

...The Nature of Thought Human Sensing Name Surname Course Professor’s Name Date The Nature of Thought: Human Sensing Learning is a natural task for all human beings. We start learning from the first day of born. How to take a step, walk, run, play, talk, brush our teeth, eat food or how to use toilet paper and many more. There are some processes, which are learned from observations. The learning gained from exposures to stimulus learning. A person has to pass through a learning method, and there are eight types of learning methods; such as Extroverted Sensing, Introverted Sensing, Extroverted Intuiting and Introverted Sensing. When we think for a moment, we might see familiar objects in your environment feeling the touch of objects, smelling the aroma of foods or fruit, hearing the sound of music, and recognizing who is signing it, or the songs name is actually our memory. Like, when we close our eyes and if we smell a lemon cake, the smelling of the fresh lemons comes to our sense. All of these things help us recognize the objects and to interfere by the surrounding objects and people around us also. There are three process of memory: encoding, storage and retrieval. Encoding is processing information into memory. We automatically store encode information without being aware of it. Storage is where the information is stored and kept. One day my mom was baking something in the oven, and she wanted me to guest what it was from the smell. I thought it was a cake...

...of errors, and detached devotion are necessary for creative insight because they allow one to open their mind, think deeply on the issue while at the same time taking a step back so what they see will stay fresh. This allows the person to find errors and question what they have found so eventually they can either solve the problem or find new ideas about the problem. 2.) Grace, accident, association, cognitive, and personality perspectives are consistent with each other because they are all some sort of action. With grace, creativity is something that occurs naturally to you, while creativity by accident is something you do by accident. Creativity by association happens because one connects two points together and cognitive creativity happens when one gains empirical knowledge on a subject and is able to form their own ideas from it through deep thought. Creativity through personality is something that can be learned through practice. 3.) Cognitive creativity is a process when one thinks of ideas or solves problems through their deep thought of a subject. The index metaphor takes this approach deeper by using “creative problem-solving aids to help ideas emerge” (Greenberg 2013). The creative problem-solving aid that is referred is using a collection of deep thoughts and forming them into a mental book. One will then refer back to this mental book to compare the ideas they have at the moment to new ideas they formed. 4.) Divergent thinking involves searching for an...

..., it’s too torturous to even think about camp Natalie thought. Her mother insisted that she goes she felt it would help Natalie learn life lessons. Natalie was a spoiled city girl way more interested in fresh sushi than in fresh air. Most summers, Natalie would take special classes that were offered by local private schools. Natalie knew her and camp wasn’t going to get alone so she dreaded the countdown to leave. Camp Thunderburg, it was all Natalie could do not to shudder at the thought of it. To say she was not interested in nature was a understatement. Natalie and her mother lived in “busy city” the coolest, most interesting city New York. When Natalie arrived on the bus she glanced at the other kids. She couldn’t believe there wasn’t anyone on the bus as miserable as she was. Natalie thought well what if I had talked to my dad to get him to persuade mom not to make me go to camp. Talking to her father was out the question. He and her mother had split up when she was four and they didn’t talk very often. Natalie snapped out the daze to see this handsome red headed freckled face guy smiling at her. Natalie took her chances to smile back. She reached her hand out towards Nate. “I’m Natalie Hop,” she said. “Your new right?” Nate asked. “I was here last summer.” “Yea I’m from New York so I’m not used to summer camp.” From that second they had created a bond that couldn’t be broken. Natalie started having second thoughts about camp. Arriving at camp she realized maybe this experience...
