...Being responsible refers to our ability to make decisions that serve our own interests and the interests of others. We first need to be responsible for ourselves before we can be responsible for others. In learning to be more responsible it is important that we know our limitations. It does not matter how smart we are, there is only so much responsibility that a person can handle. It is also important to remember that we are not responsible for things that are out of our control, for example, how other people feel or how they react to ourselves or others. Sharing responsibility for both success and failure can lead to increased responsibility to oneself and others. When you hear the word "responsibility," what do you think of first? Many people think of the word BLAME, as in, "Whose responsibility is this?" I think of responsibility as seizing what's in front of you, exerting choice, and taking control. The real meaning of responsibility is the ability to respond. It's going out and creating what you want through personal choices. The responsibility that each of us has is that we are completely, 100% responsible for how our lives turn out. If you think that being responsible at all times is too As people grow older their roles and responsibilities grow also. Where leaving the adolescent years behind embarks a person on a journey of self-discovery and independence. The teenage years are a time for learning and recognizing their responsibilities so they can grow into a successful...

...well for Tesco, and we had a higher sale than we have today. Investors once called Tesco a darling of the U.K. stock market, until January where everything went down for us. The shares has fallen by 20 percent. After this fall in market shares, my boss the longstanding chief Terry Leahy who have been CEO for Tesco for 14 years, have just gone off. The new CEO for Tesco is Philip Clarke, and it was not a nice sight he met the first couple of weeks. Experts have said that Mr. Clarke need to reconnect with customers and change the business’ culture. We did also launch the Fresh and Easy at the worst time possible, just one year into the financial crisis in 2008. We did also make some obvious mistakes though. We had no coffee in the store, as the first thing in the morning, there was no frozen food as Americans like and so on. That is why investors have called 182 Fresh & Easy stores to fail. The U.S. stores Fresh and Easy did also fail to take off and we did not catch that many customers. Still, we have some big international investors such as Warren G, BlackRock and the Singaporean Government. As a matter of fact, one in every seven pounds spend in UK are spend in one of our stores but we still needed to improve the business. Many customers...

...Consuming Fresh Foods Instead of Canned Foods Eating is an activity that we as humans do at least two times a day. We live in a world where the variety of food is immense, and we are responsible for what we eat. We decide what we are about to eat and how it will affect our bodies. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast the differences between eating fresh foods instead of canned foods. The three main differences are flavor, health benefits, and cost. The most notable difference between these two kinds of foods is their flavor. Fresh foods have great flavor and taste because they keep all their natural conditions. Canned foods however, lack a lot of its flavor characteristics because there are some other chemical products added to the natural foods. It is logical that the fresh foods will have a greater taste and flavor when consumed just because of the time in which they have been prepared. Comparing both types of foods we notice another difference. There is a health factor that affects both of them. Canned foods lose some of the original fresh food nutrients when stored, and also it has to be tinned with many conservatives and chemical factors that prolong the shelf life and apparent freshness of the food but could also become toxic if consumed too often. Yet another difference between these two types of foods is the cost. Canned foods are much more expensive than fresh foods. Here the benefit of buying tinned foods is that they are easier to find, for example...

...Camacho, 2015. 9 -6 1 5 -0 1 3 REV: AUGUST 15, 2014 RORY MCDONALD CLAYTON CHRISTENSEN ROBIN YANG TY HOLLINGSWORTH AmazonFresh: Rekindling the Online Grocery Market We believe that a fundamental measure of our success will be the shareholder value we create over the long term. . . . We will make bold rather than timid investment decisions where we see a sufficient probability of gaining market leadership advantages. Some of these investments will pay off, others will not, and we will have learned another valuable lesson in either case. — Jeff Bezos, 1997 Letter to Shareholders As Fishmonger Ryan Reese skillfully filleted a fresh rainbow trout at Seattle’s Pike Place Market one morning in late 2012, the usual mix of tourists and locals gathered to admire his prowess. The iconic downtown market’s appealing array of fresh and specialty foods drew daily crowds eager to admire its vendors' showmanship and buy their wares. But the trout wasn't for any of them. Ryan's customer was miles away on Mercer Island. Within hours AmazonFresh, the grocery subsidiary of Amazon.com, would deliver the fish, which she'd ordered online, right to her doorstep.1 AmazonFresh had spent five years testing and refining its business model since its launch in August 2007. The challenges were numerous; no other online grocer had yet succeeded on a national scale. Amazon typically allowed new businesses only a short time to achieve profitability before shutting down failed attempts...

...COMPANY NAME/WEBSITE/INDUSTRY Fresh Direct / https://www.freshdirect.com/ Retail Grocery Industry BACKGROUND/HISTORY Based out of Long Island City, Queens, FreshDirect was launched in July 2001, by Joseph Fedele and Jason Ackerman. It offers online grocery shopping and delivery service to over 300 zip codes in the Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and surrounding areas. At the time of launch, there had been numerous other online grocery ventures that had ultimately met their demise. What made Fresh Direct unique was that it could offer grocery shoppers: “higher quality at lower prices.” It was able to do so because it had no retail location, which meant there was no rent to pay for retail space. In order to provide its customers with highest quality of food, FreshDirect created a state-of-the-art production center that is staffed with expert personnel. Since its existence, FreshDirect has changed CEO’s seven times, with Jason Ackerman, one of the co-founders, as its current CEO. FreshDirect currently is a privately owned company is not mandated to share any of its financials to the public. However, in an interview by Ken Bruno of Forbes with former CEO Richard Braddock, Bruno stated, “the company increased revenue in 2009 by approximately $20 million up to an estimated $250 million and in 2010 has grown its customer base in the range of 20% to 25%” (June 2010). ...Eat Fresh Not Processed With all the focus on getting healthier through eating right and exercising these days, I am making a stand try to completely eliminate processed foods from my diet. If you see a food product in a box, a bag, or any type of packaging and it did not come from a health food store chances are it’s processed. Foods that are processed lose most of their nutritional value and substituted with unhealthy fillers like sugar and carbohydrates. Artificial colors, sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup, and salt are some of the other unhealthy substitutes used in processed foods. Consuming too much high fructose corn syrup itself is believed to be a factor in weight gain, dental cavities, and overall poor nutrition. Not only does it taste better, but fresh foods also provide more nutrients than processed foods. When attempting to get the full benefits of fresh foods, one should purchase fresh fruits and vegetables. These fresh foods contain vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and fibers that are all needed in order to maintain optimal health. Eating fresh foods over processed makes it easier to lose and maintain weight as well as providing more energy because processed foods are not nutritious. A big part of fresh food and its vitamins is when it is consumed. Fresh foods start losing their vitamins the moment they are picked and sometimes sit in stores or warehouses for weeks before being purchased. This is a good reason to try and purchase food from a farmers market where...
