It’s Not Just Football: Friday Night Lights Review
For many people who aren’t sports fans, a television drama about a high school football team in Texas does not sound interesting. But NBC’s Friday Night Lights is one of the best American TV dramas in recent years. There's a level of honest, raw humanity in this Primetime Emmy award-winning show that few TV dramas have ever achieved.
Friday Night Lights focuses on the small town of Dillon, Texas, where what matters most is the local high school football team. Eric Taylor is the new head coach of the Dillon High School Panthers. This is a job that comes with an incredible amount of pressure, as everywhere he goes, Eric hears how much the town is counting on him to take their boys to the state championship game. The show illustrates the stress that a town gives its high school players to win and the hope that a team gives to a small town.

After seasons of emotional investment come to an end, viewers want to be rewarded with their commitment with resolutions that offer closure for the characters and the show itself. Friday Night Lights does that for its fans. The show ends perfectly by wrapping up key plot points that leave viewers wanting more. Some characters walk off into the sunset, while others embark on new and difficult journeys. The finale reminds viewers why they love the series’ core relationship of Coach Eric Taylor and his wife Tami. The final season throws serious obstacles in their paths, raising questions about trust and loyalty. Eric and Tami spend the last few episodes of the show in an intense, unusual fight. The series’ finale keeps the tension alive and draws out their disagreement until late in the last episode. Friday Night Lights’ ending is one I will never forget.
Friday Night Lights is about so much more than football. The show focuses

Friday Night Lights Garrett Hedlund Research Paper

...The 31 year old American actor, known for his roles in the film Friday Night Lights - Garrett Hedlund, has got a feeling of intense longing for his younger years. Hedlund, who portrayed Captain Hook in the most recent adaptation of J.M. Barrie's beloved children's classic Peter Pan, seems to be having a hard time accepting the fact that he's in his 30s. The Friday Night Light's actor claimed that he's "much more like Hook" than he is Peter, Hedlund said at the NYC premiere of Pan film on Sunday, "There's something about Hook that is really jealous of Peter Pan, because he's young and doesn't grow old and Hook is of a contrary kind and does, and there's this sort of very strong sexual desire for lost time." Garrett Hedlund, who turned 31 year old last month, admitted that, "I'm now getting into my 30s, and I feel that," then he added looking stunned, "That's the first time I've said that I'm in my 30s."...

The Effects of Binge Drinking on the Restaurant Industry : a Qualitative Study on College Students Behavior While Intoxicated

...around the world, college students all over the world engage in binge drinking. Numerous research studies and programs that relate to the danger of alcohol follow the amount of alcohol that is consumed by college students. The hypothesis for this particular study states that the act of binge drinking by college students makes them more likely to behave rudely and aggressively towards restaurant employees. Previous research studies that have explored binge drinking and alcohol abuse have primarily been concerned with domestic violence and assaults. A research study conducted by Anderson and his colleagues focused violence against women (Anderson et al, 2009), and another study by Hughes and colleagues aimed to find out the act of binge drinking and nightlife (Hughes et al. 2007). What these studies have not focused on is effects of alcohol-induced aggression and how it is related to the restaurant industry. Through thorough research and observations, this study hopes to help educate college students as well as restaurant managers on the effects of alcohol. With information found in this study, restaurant owners can create a new training process that also includes information on what to do when a customer is drunk and behaving inappropriately. Students can also benefit from this study because it will help them realize how their behavior changes with the introduction of alcohol. Methods Research Site and Participants This study focuses on a local eating establishment located...

The Movie Industry

...What are You Looking At? Oh, those were the days. Remember high school? Oh, high school. A world without subject-by-numbers, p-sets, all-nighters, or worries. There wasn't much of anything to do, period. The most exciting thing that could happen to you in high school was probably go to a keg party-er, did I say keg? You know I meant cake, and going to the big premiere of "Spider-man." Friday night at the movies with your buds was a sure-fire way to pass two or three hours of your endless free time. What else did you have to do? Fill out the MIT application? Most teenagers, myself included, probably look at movies as entertainment, rather than as art, and most directors will confirm this. The movie industry has capitalized on this "entertainment" view of movies. More than ever, the movies industry is dominated by blockbusters and, to many's dismay, sequels to previous blockbusters. According to the website of the Motion Pictures Association of America (MPAA), from 1999 to 2002, the average theatrical cost of an MPAA film rose over 80%. Over this 3-year period, a whopping 25 out of the top 50 highest grossing movies in the American film history were produced, all of which made over 200 million dollars. Among these blockbusters were "Spider-man," "Finding Nemo," and "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace." We all know why "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace" exploded at the box office. But why did the other two gross over $340 million each? Because they were thought-provoking...

...I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option. More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can’t wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that’s not only better, but also more directly involves me. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong. I don't understand the purpose of the line, "I don't need to drink to have fun." Great, no one does. But why start a fire with flint and sticks when they've invented the lighter? Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you're going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you're crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger. The letters T and G are very close to each other on a keyboard.
