On Friday, August. 13, 2010, a 13 year old boy was struck by lightning at 13:13 (1:13 p.m.) in Suffolk, England. According to the article Friday the 13th is one of the unluckiest days of the year! In the U.S. an estimate 17 to 21 million people suffer from a fear of Friday the 13th. There has been myths told, one of those many myths are that if you cut your hair on Friday 13th someone in your family will die. In my perspective the myths & all of that is not true. There have but stories and accidents that have happened on Friday the 13th that were tragic and were myths. Following into myths some of the tragic ones were if you break a mirror on Friday the 13th, you will have seven years of bad luck, leading to if a child is born Friday the 13th …show more content…
a bushfire tore through Australia's Victoria province, killing 36 people in one day. Everyone was miserable and we're going crazy they didn't know what to do. 71 people died.Water was low food source was low, everything was devastating. 75 percent of the state was affected by the flames, 1,300 buildings, including 700 homes, were destroyed in the blazes. Stories like these are the frightening stories that make the people believe Friday the 13th is true. Can they prove the myths are true? That's the real question. Also "A murder goes ignored " is another brutal and gruesome story that happened on Friday the 13th are these are what makes us all believe in this mysterious day. Just another story that helps the audience believe Friday the 13th is true . It's one of New York's most courageous and horrifying stories about Friday the 13th. On March 13, 1964, bar manager Kitty Genovese was stabbed and raped by a stranger, Winston Moseley. 38 people witnessing the attack run for dear life and find help! When people fail to act in a situation because they assume someone else will step in nothing gets solved. This story confuses audience a lot but it states that Genovese was already dead by the time ambulances arrived. Several of the 38 witnesses that did see parts of the attack thought that the others were getting help and were absolutely freaked out , but most saw only snippets and did not understand the situation and what was all happening. I couldn’t believe my eyes when reading this unbelievable

...Technology is neither good nor bad, nor is it neutral. Melvin Kranzberg, 1986 Technology is a powerful force in the modern world. It has been hailed as a way to cure everything from world hunger to bad breath. Nevertheless, technological development is not an unqualified blessing: Technologies frequently have negative effects for some people, at some times, in some circumstances. Some negative consequences are unanticipated, some are predictable, and some are intentional features of the design or implementation. But because technologies are rightly seen as indispensable for solving problems and improving the quality of life, societies invest in the design and development of technologies, hoping to shape and direct it. This class will explore the relationship between technology and society to understand where technologies come from, how they are used, and how they may be shaped to create better futures. It is not a class where memorization is the primary goal. Instead we will develop skills for critical analysis and argument development. As we do this we will continually pose four important questions: First, where do technologies come from and why do they work as they do? Technologies are human creations, and so their forms and uses reveal the interests and purposes of the people, institutions, and societies that build them. Second, how do technologies shape our world? We will explore the variety of ways by which machines and techniques become embedded...

Civil War

...Civil War Research Paper This unit can be broken down into three different areas: the causes of the Civil War, the atrocity of the Civil War, and America’s Reconstruction after the war. With each unit there are a multitude of things that have had a significant impact on our development as a country since this period. With that in mind, you will be expected to research a topic of your choosing and write an in-depth research paper on it. My rationale for this assignment is two-fold. One, we are towards the end of the semester and I feel it is important to push your limits and force you to continue to work hard. Two, you will be in high school next year. This is a type of assignment you could and most likely will have in the near future. It is something you must work on in order to perfect it. Topic Choices (broken into 3 subunits) • Middle Passage • Indentured Servants • Jobs of Slaves • Resistance to Slavery • Slave Rebellions • Political Compromises • Abolition Movement • Life on Plantations • Free Blacks • Runaways • John Brown • Underground Railroad • Black Codes • Josiah Henson • Harriet Tubman • Frederick Douglas • Harriet Jacobs • Henry “Box” Brown • Olaudah Equiano • Economic Causes • Election of 1860 • Abraham Lincoln • Confederate States of America ...

Essay On Superstitions

...Irp 2 Belief System Research Question What are superstitions and does it influence people? 1)Context : Belief systems are just stories that we tell ourselves in order to define our personal sense of "reality". Every person in the world has a belief system that they utilize, and it is through this mechanism that we individually, "make sense" of the world around us. Superstition is a belief—that one event causes another without any natural process linking the two events—such as astrology, religion, omens, witchcraft, prophecies, etc., that contradicts natural science. I have heard that various people of different parts of the world follow different kinds of beliefs. This made me very curious as this was quite new to me. So I decided...

Motivation

...mind when I think of motivation, “Monday blues”, “hump day”, and “Thank God it’s Friday”. These phrases have a lack of motivation associated with them. All three phrases basically refer to looking forward to the end of the work week. We spend most of our lifetime working at our career, job, or our personal business. Positive motivation is important in both our professional and personal time during the day; it brings in happiness and health into our lives. Because we spend most of our time at work, I’m going to talk about the benefits of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation at our jobs. In the appendix of this paper is an article called, “The Impact of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivators on Employee Engagement in Information Organizations” by Rajesh Singh. This paper will go over a summary of the article and how the article relates to motivation. Additional references will be made from the text book, “Management” by Schermerhorn, J., & Bachrach, D., for a comparison and contrast to the article. Lastly, all the information presented in this paper will show how a manager could become a more effective leader in the 21st century. Let’s begin with a summary of the article Research study This is a research article that was conducted from St. John’s University in New York, within the division of Library and Information Science (LIS). Ninety-eight students from the LIS management class held a research study from spring of 2013 to spring of 2014. This study was to prove that intrinsic...

Since 2010, AIMUN has successfully engaged youth from diverse nationalities and cultures in challenging debates, year after year. Globalization has virtually erased geographical boundaries and the virtual world has made distance a meaningless word. While the altered landscape has benefitted the world in many ways, new problems and challenges have surfaced too. UN simulations at AIMUN capture the trials and tribulations faced by today’s world. Proceedings in the AIMUN sensitize our delegates to international affairs and ignite their passion to bring change in a responsible and sustainable manner. Amity’s core philosophy of nurturing global leaders is so beautifully expressed in AIMUN conferences. This year we are back with renewed vigor and offer youth from across the world a dynamic platform where they will apply their young minds through discussion and debate to resolve crises which confront our world. I am confident AIMUN will, like it has earlier, inculcate the United Nations ethos in our young global leaders and inspire them to build an international community where every...

Data were obtained using secondary data collection method via historical sales force data. A shortage of human resources of RHL would be 8 and 12 and that of AAAHL would be 103 and 182 on both individual territory base and total territory base. RHL and AAAHL can plan its action to bridge the gap identified by short term solutions like an increased overtime -OT-, hiring of temporary sale people and long term solutions like recalling, retraining and hiring of permanent sales people.
