My Friend

...My friend Every person needs a friend. Friends are very important in our life. I think you cannot live without friends. A friend is a person who always there for you. Your close friend or best friend is a person whom you can trust with everything no matter what happens. Your true friend is always ready to help you. To support you if you do something wrong and to solve problems together with you. They say that “a friend in need is a friend indeed”. I think it is really so. A friend is someone whom you can call ten years after no calling at all and he or she will be gald to hear you. You probably already guessed that I want to tell you about my friend. Her name is Dasha. We became acquainted with each other at the entrance examinations. We chatted for a while, wished each other good luck and went. Two months later, I came back to Kurgan and settled in the dormitory. To my surprise, I saw a familiar face in the coridor. It was Dasha. We were so happy , that we met each other, because we didn’t know anybody there. We immediately went to the commandant and asked to share a room. She allowed us. That’s how our friendship began. Dasha is three years older than me. She is small and slim at the waist. She holds her body upright. She has long, abundant, dark, curly hair. Above her dark brown eyes lies a perfect set of full, well-marked eyebrows. She wears glasses, which suit her very well. Her rounded face sits atop her shoulders with a brilliant smile. Everybody calls her “a sun”. Her...

...3. ‘A friend in need is a friend indeed’. Describe how a friend helped you in a difficult time. A friend is someone who always be there for you during thick and thin, who always be our best listener and who will always help us from barking up the wrong tree. Without a friend, ones will feel alone and never know how to socialize with people around him or her. Everyone in this world needs friends as companion in their life. So do I. We can have a lot of friends but to find a true and loyal one is the hardest. I have a best friend and I think she is the best girl I have ever met, El. We were enrolled in the same school since we are 7 years old. We used to be strangers at first but as we were placed in the same class, we get closed to each other. Plus, we are deskmate. She is a kind-hearted person. This pretty Kelantanese girl used to be very down to earth to all people that she met. She lived in a small town, outskirts of Kota Bharu. She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Her father works as a pediatric specialist in one of the most well-known hospital in Kelantan. While her mom works as an English lecturer in Universiti Malaysia Kelantan. I was having a very difficult time when I was 15 years old. It was a calm and quiet night when I’m burning the midnight oil because the PMR was just around the corner. The residents around my housing area all asleep. It was only me and my pile of books. The clock on my pink room’s wall shown that the time was almost half past...

Different Kinds of Friends

...We can easily find friends but have you ever thought of what kinds of people you should make friend with? Friends are really important in our lives and they should be loyal, supportive, loving and kind-and we should give that loyalty, support, love and kindness back in return. How many friends we have is not as have a few friends who have similarity to you. Decide what kinds of friends who suitable for you is difficult, right? Here is a list of top three kinds of friends we should cultivate. The listener is a kind of friend who can sit near and listen to you. Sound strange, right? Of course, if you have a chat with your friends about your happiness, they will always listen to you; however, what if you talk to them about your family trouble, will all of them be able to sit patiently listen to you? If you can friends who can do that, hold them into your life because they are the listener. Another kind of friend is the twin. Have you ever met someone who has nearly every single interest similar to you? The twin is the one who seems to share every single interest that you have. For example, you both like country music and love reading. In short the twin is a friend who is just like you. It is really rare to find this kind of friend but you already have one, you are very lucky! The last one is the motivator. Friends vs Golden Girls

...practitioner of self-deprecating humor. Situational: Humor arising out of quotidian situations; it is the basis of sitcoms, or situation comedies. Situational comedies employ elements of farce, screwball, slapstick, and other types of humor. FRIENDS VS GOLDEN GIRLS The Golden Girls was one of the first sit-com shows that I remember watching with my grandmother who was a huge fan. As a result, I’ve always had a great fondness for the show. I’ve hummed its theme song and the still remarkable fact that it was a hit starring three women in their 60s. In the meantime, I’ve seen every episode of Friends and to this day would rather watch its re-reruns than almost anything else on TV. Friends may be hugely popular and beloved by mainly girls but that does not make it bad (it just makes it an easy target). Who would not laugh when they watch Monica dance with a turkey on her head? I assumed that Friends would win easily. But after re-watching The Golden Girls again now that I’m older, the competition has tightened up. Since Friends ended its ten-season run in 2004, audiences have been treated to/tortured by one clone after another. But before we lived in a world where there were dozens of shows just like Friends, there was Friends, which was a show sort of like...

Friends and the Realities of an Adult Social Life

...Friends and the Realities of an Adult Social Life On television, the young adult, just beginning to make their own life is portrayed to have a family based on friends; while their contact with their biological family has diminished, their emotional closeness with their friends as a source for comfort and security has sky rocketed. However, in the Warner Brother’s hit sitcom, “Friends,” the life of Ross Geller takes the idea too far—those familiar with the show will remember the endless scenes of all six friends lounging around, often either talking in the coffee house, or in Monica’s apartment. However, the viewer will also struggle to remember where each character does for a living, and remembering any scenes that depict them at their jobs because, with the possible exception of Rachel during her waitressing years, the characters are rarely shown to work. Ross is the most unrealistically portrayed of them all: as a palaeontologist who also is a professor at New York University, and being a father sharing custody with an ex-wife it is difficult to understand how he has the time to socialize as much as the show depicts him too. “Friends” provides an unrealistic portrayal of how active Ross Geller’s social life is in comparison to his work and family commitments during the late 20th and early 21st century. Friends shows that most adults will frequently be able to engage in sexual intercourse regularly and with many different partners in the span of a few years. While Ross is...

6 Types of Toxic Friends

...1. The Promise Breaker This friend constantly disappoints you or breaks promises, most likely because she herself was constantly disappointed during her formative years. Your friend is unable to stop herself from repeating that pattern. It is an annoying but comfortable pattern for your friend, and without psychological help, it may be hard for her or him to alter this pattern. You could abandon the friend and the friendship, or you could find a way to detach yourself by lowering your expectations for this friendship. If she promises to do something for you, even to meet you for a cup of coffee, you can say, "Sure," but protect yourself by knowing, in the back of your mind, that this friend "nine times out of 10" is going to cancel on you. Although your friend may always have been this way, she may have also recently acquired this trait because of something she is going through right now. If a friend who has always been there for you, through thick and thin, has only recently become less reliable, you might want to cut her some slack. You have to decide if this is a lifelong trait that will be hard or impossible to change, a temporary condition that will be short-lived, or something, if it does continue indefinitely, that you are willing to accept and handle. One way to try to change the Promise Breaker is to help her to understand the consequences of your ignored pledges. Perhaps you have been keeping your disappointments about this to yourself. Try telling her how it...

...child talking with his own imaginary friend? It is quite a normal phenomenon which happens to children at the age of four or five. Some parents concern about this appearance. They think that it can be the result of physiological disorder of their child. This phenomenon can even been accepted as avoidance of reality. How to Win Friends

...At the youthful age of twenty-one, I thought I knew of many secrets and strategies of how to win friends and influence people. Meeting strangers is in my comfort zone. I love talking to people; I enjoy learning how others process thoughts which form conversations. It has been said to me many times that I could have a conversation with a brick wall. Anyone that has ever literally tried having a conversation with a brick wall could come to this realization - having a real meaningful and effective conversation requires two logical people both interested in the other. After reading and studying Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People, I discovered my tactics for interacting with others weren’t parallel to the ways you can actually triumph in the social world. The quote by Dale Carnegie painted a clear picture for how I should go about interacting with others – “There are four ways, and only four ways, in which we have contact with the world. We are evaluated and classified by these four contacts: what we do, how we look, what we say, and how we say it.” The techniques used to obtain what we desire from people stem from our interpersonal skills and situational awareness. How to Win Friends and Influence People provides methods and instructions on how to handle people, how to make people like you, how to win people to your way of thinking, and how to be a leader. Within every objective Dale Carnegie presented I discovered an effective approach that would benefit both...

How to Win Friends

...millionaire mindset club essential book summaries HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE by Dale Carnegie INTRODUCTION When Dale Carnegie first sat down to write How to Win Friends and Influence People he really didn’t realize exactly what a best seller it would be, nor did he realize that over 70 years later it would still be in print - and be acclaimed as ‘the best all time’ self-help book in the world. The book was first published in 1937 and was developed from the real life experiences of hundreds of people, rather than from just one person’s opinions. The idea for the book was brought about by the results of an investigation conducted by the Carnegie Foundation that was carried out to determine how people became financially successful. The investigation found that success took only fifteen percent of actual technical knowledge, and that the actual key to success rested on the other eighty five percent. This eighty five percent was identified as possessing skills in human engineering: the ability to get on with others well, your individual outlook and people skills. These results came as a shock to many at the time as these skills were not widely taught in courses or classes. A new concept had been discovered and a large hole emerged that needed to be filled by a new peopled-skilled class. This is how the Dale Carnegie Course In Effective Speaking and Human Relations was born – and the book a mere set of ideas on memo cards which were discussed and lectured on. These...
