A successful manager is one that leads his company to a stated objective by using all means available for accomplishing it by known procedures, guidelines and resources accessible. In order to reach this concept four functions are recognized. The four functions of management stated are planning, organizing, leading and controlling. Each of these functions helps the manager in a specific manner to aid in his managerial role. Many recommend following these four steps in order to achieve the success anticipated for future plans of the company. All four of these functions need to be given an equal amount of time as they are important elements in any organization field. For the sake of this paper will use the Real
Estate profession for example.
The Four Management Functions and how they relate to Real Estate:
Planning
Planning is the first tool of the four functions in the management process. The difference between a successful and unsuccessful manager lies within the planning procedure. Planning is the logical thinking through goals and making the decision as to what needs to be accomplished in order to reach the organizations’ objectives. Managers use this process to plan for the future, like a blueprint to foresee problems, decide on the actions to evade difficult issues and to beat the competition. (Bateman, Snell, 2009). Planning is the first step in management and is essential as it facilitates control, valuable in decision making and in the avoidance of business ruin.

Any successful Real Estate company has a vision to lead the way to do it better than the next. Although realtors are independent contractors it is important that the company they have affiliated their name with are committed to their goals and strives for customer excellence. It is important that everyone upholds the company’s mission statement and set plan

Functions of Management

...Functions of Management Ben Enuma MGT/330 September 5, 2011 Brenda Shore Management Functions Management has been described as “the process of working with people and resources to accomplish organizational goals”. (Bateman, T. S., & Snell, S. A., 2009). The functions of management comprise of four primary functions, namely; planning, organizing, leading and controlling. For the success of an organization these functions must be performed both effectively and efficiently. All over the world these functions are common across all fields of management, be it at a factory, a super market, a restaurant or even at home. In my place of work for instance, these functions are referred to as the management process and they are applied in our everyday activities. Planning Planning is the first and base component of management. It involves chalking out future course of action and deciding in advance what course of action is most appropriate for the achievement of pre-determined goals. According to KOONTZ, “Planning is deciding in advance – what to d, when to and how to do. It bridges the gap between where we are and where we want to be.”This function is usually performed by top executives of companies. Since planning involves deciding and specifying which organizational goals to be pursued, it is seen as the most critical aspect of management. To a large extent the success or failure of the company depends on its planning. Planning describes a top-down approach in which...

Functions of Management

...Functions of Management MGT 330 December 2, 2011 Functions of Management A management team is a large part of all organizations. An organization stays organized and running smoothly due to the management team. The management in an organization provides and maintains the structure, organization, and regulations that keep the business running. All management teams utilize the four functions of management. Those four functions are the planning, the organizing, the leading, and the controlling. These four functions of management are essential in any organization. They are a large part of a successful management team and a successful organization. These functions work together to assist the management team to make decisions and meet the company goals. The first function of management is planning. “Planning is specifying the goals to be achieved and deciding in advance the appropriate actions needed to achieve those goals” (Bateman & Snell, 2009). In my last organization, the planning process was a vital part of the week for the management team as well as the employees. I worked as a collections associate for a bank. We had meetings once a week to set our goals for the week. We worked in teams, so there were team goals as well as individual goals that we discussed. The second function of management is organizing. “Organizing is assembling and coordinating the human, financial, physical, informational, and other resources needed to achieve goals” (Bateman & Snell, 2009)...

Four Functions of Management & How They Apply

...Four Functions of Management & How They Apply MGT/330 April 7, 2012 Four Functions of Management & How They Apply This week I had the opportunity to learn about the four functions of management. To say that this new discovery was a foreign concept to me would be an understatement. Reading about the four functions; planning, organizing, leading, and controlling, really made me sit back and think about how my organization is really missing out. My organization does not apply any of the four functions in the way in which they are described and after learning how each one works and how an organization benefits from each function, I am on a mission to begin implementing the four functions into my organization. For this paper I will be discussing how the four functions would and could benefit my organization rather than how it relates to my organization. How do Planning, Organizing, Leading, and Controlling fit into my organization? Each of these four functions has their own place in management. The Planning function covers the process of objectives and deciding on actions to be taken to achieve the objectives. The second function is Organizing; Organization is the process of designing and developing structure of relationships between members of the team or group assigned to carry out the planned tasks and filling open positions within the organization. The third function of management...
