Functions of Management
The four functions of management are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling, this is also known as the management process. “These functions are common across all fields of management, be it at a factory, a super market, a restaurant or even at home” (Four functions of management).
Planning are the tasks that a manager chooses that need to be done to accomplish organizational goals. The manager will create a layout showing the way the tasks need to be done and a timeframe for each task. The planning stage is completely focused on the goals of the organization. It is up to the manager what needs to be done so the organization will be successful.
Organizing is when the manager takes his plan and designates certain individuals to do the tasks. When you organize you are putting your plan into action. Each individual contributes to the success of their department, division, and the organization. Without organizing no one would know what to do and there would be chaos.
Leading is motivating your employees and guiding them to complete their assigned tasks so they can achieve the goals of the organization. A good leader will have the respect of their employees. When employees feel they are a part of the company they will work their hardest to achieve the goals of the organization. A good leader knows their employees skills and abilities so when a task is assigned they are going to get the job done.
“Controlling is the following roles played by the manager: 1. Gather information that measures performance. 2. Compare present performance to pre-established performance norms. 3. Determine the next action plan and modifications for meeting the deserved performance perimeter.

The larger corporations of management have the top-level, middle-level, and frontline managers use all the functions of management.
