Dear Ms. Charlene Bain :
This letter is to complain about the fee for the use of the Government Morgue at the Bimini Clinic. On Tuesday April 22nd 2014 my aunt Mrs. Ermine Dottin-Major passed away at the Princess Margaret Hospital in New Providence. She was embalmed and dressed in New Providence and shipped home to Bimini on Friday May 2nd 2014.
Early Friday morning at 4:35 a.m. her body was brought to the Bimini Clinic Morgue by me and another relative, then after 209 minutes of waiting on Nurse Stuart to arrive with the key the body was placed in the morgue taken out of a shipping tray and into her casket, there was no need of the freezer or the use of any equipments belonging to the Bimini Clinic.
The same day at 5:30pm me along with the deceased’s sister and other relatives arrived at the Morgue to take the remains to the church for viewing, before taking the remains me along with the deceased’s sister went to Nurse Linda Stuart to pay the fee for the use of the morgue which she said was the total of $ 150.00 that was paid in cash and a receipt was given. When asked why so much her response was “you opted to use Nassau for embalming”. Later on I recently found out that we were over charged and that the fee is $15.00 a day.
My family and I are asking that this be further investigated by your department and we expect that the matter will be resolved.
