The Reason Behind Boobie Miles Boobie Miles’ vision went from blurry to clear only to become blurry again. Boobie came from nothing, he was in foster care and also had an abusive father. He then had everything, colleges and professional teams after him for football. Boobie had an accident and thought nothing mattered anymore because his football career was ended. In Friday Night Lights, by H.G. Bissinger, Boobie Miles is cocky and stubborn because he came from a poor and abusive background but was adopted by his Uncle L.V. where he was then worshiped for his football skills. Boobie Miles came from an impoverished and abusive background and was taken in by his loving uncle. The author stated, “When he was just a young boy he was placed in…show more content… On page 46, it says, “He was getting recruitment letters for football from colleges all over the country” (46). He was also told that he had spots on professional teams already as well. Him receiving all of these letters made his head get big. He was cocky because he knew he did not have to work for it like the other players. He was also black and the black kids were known to be better than the whites; he automatically knew he had a starting spot. Of course, all the letters from the colleges he was getting was basically telling him he is the best and in return he acted cocky. The author wrote, “Boobie was also always reassured. He was kicked off the team for missing workouts but he was let back on the team because we was good and the team needed him” (48). Boobie knew that he did not have to show up to football because he was already good enough for a starting position so that is why he missed all the time; he did not care he was kicked off because he would be let back on the team. This shows how Boobie is cocky and stubborn. Cocky by knowing he is too good to be sat or kicked off and stubborn by not showing up to practices. All of the letters and praise he was getting lead to him thinking he was too good which lead him to being cocky and
