In the Game Changers exhibit, it was said that the invention of the bicycled dawned an era of the “quintessential “New Woman” of the late 19th century.” This era saw women’s colleges creating new sports programs and forming athletic teams to allow their students to compete in sports such as basketball, tennis, archery, etc. However, something occurred in the 1920’s and 1930’s because soon women were “discouraged and even blocked” from competition in sports.
