Garth Brooks was born Troyal Garth Brooks on February 7, 1962 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Garth is the youngest of six children and was born to Troyal Raymond Brooks and Colleen McElroy Carroll. Garths father was on his second marriage when he meet and soon later Garth’s mom. From his first marriage he brought over four children. Once Troyal and Colleen were married that had two more children one of them being Garth. Garth grew up in Yukon, where as a child his family had weekly talent nights where every child was required to participate and either sing or do a skit. Garth loved sports and even received a scholarship to Oklahoma State University for the Javelin. Garth Brooks graduated from OSU in 1984 with a degree in advertising. Once Garth had finished school and realized that sports was not going to pay his bills, Garth turned towards his other love music. He started out singing in bars and clubs throughout Oklahoma, but mostly up near the Tulsa area. In 1985 Garth got a break in the music department an entertainment attorney Rod Phelps drove up to listen to Garth play and he liked what he heard. He offered to produces his first demo.
