Gas Mileage Research Paper

There are so many gas brands out there it can be hard to decide which one is best for your vehicle. What gives the best performance? What gives the best gas mileage? What is the cheapest. This is what I plan on figuring out. I’m going to be testing first hand what gas will give me the best mileage. I’m going to be testing the gas mileage on my 2013 Honda Shadow. I’ll do this by filling my tank up with 2 gallons of gas. Then I’m going to ride the motorcycle until my low fuel light comes on. I will then record the data I find. I will be testing this on 3 different gas brands. I’ll test Phillip 66, Bp, and Quick Trip gasoline. If I test the effect of gasoline on gas mileage I predict that Quick Trip gasoline will give me the best fuel mileage. …show more content…
This proves my hypothesis that Quick Trip offers better mileage than any other brand. However which brand is more economic. Through some research I found that Quick Trip has an average of $2.00 a gallon, BP has an average of $1.90 a gallon, and Phillip 66 had an average of $1.95. Quick Trip is the most expensive brand, than followed by Phillip 66 and then BP. If you aren’t really worried about the mileage than you might be able to save a few cents a gallon. As far as different octane fuels go they don’t really improve performance. All higher octane fuels do is increase engine knock. In fact putting in higher octane fuel where lower is called for may cause damage to your engine. The same goes for putting lower octane where higher is called for. The best thing to do is put in the octane that your vehicle calls for. It’s what the car is tuned for and will give you the best performance for your vehicle.(cartalk) To recap Quick Trip gasoline increases fuel mileage. If you’re looking to save money BP however is probably the better to go with. Plus if you’re thinking of putting in higher octane, don’t. All it will do is mess up your

...Business Research Methods, Part III Robert LaFond, Taylor Norman, Zephyr Scott, Vennita Watson QNT 561 May 13, 2013 Sripathi Nilkar Introduction As Ford Motor Company continues to seek ways to improve its current hybrid vehicles, the company will conduct a statistical analysis of the results of the questionnaires returned by its customers. Through this analysis, Ford Motor Company will be able to identify challenges that the company faces as well as the steps needed to reduce these challenges and improving both the company’s product and image. Statistical Analysis The results gathered from the questionnaire immensely helped Ford understand new aspects of an improved Hybrid vehicle. Subject 1 was the owner of a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. Subject 1 has had 4 scheduled maintenance jobs performed on the car in the past year. On average, Subject 1 only drove 100 miles per week. Usually, scheduled maintenance is performed depending on the gas mileage of the car i.e. oil changes, tire rotation and balance, etc. Subject 1 took good care of their car over the past year, but still had two serious additional car problems. The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid costs Subject 1 on average $127.06 a week in gasoline. This customer is only satisfied at level 3. Being that this is only a three year old car, these problems point to inefficiencies with manufacturing. Both are costly for the owner to replace. Subject 2 is the owner of a 2012 Toyota Prius. Scheduled maintenance was performed...

Mobile Apps

...Web or Mobile System Paper Web or Mobile System Paper A mobile application is a one touch software program used to run on Smartphones and other mobile devices. Mobile apps usually help users by connecting them to the specific services more commonly accessed on laptop or desktop computers, or help them by making it easier to use the Internet on many devices such as a Smartphone, MP3 player or tablet computers. A mobile app may be a mobile Web site bookmarking utility, a mobile-based instant messaging client, or many other applications. I recently upgraded my Smartphone from a Blackberry device, to a phone with the Android operating System, a Motorola Droid Maxx. I was stunned to find so many applications that I could download and use for free. Since I upgraded my Smartphone to the Motorola Droid Maxx at the height of gas prices barreling out of control, I wanted to find an application that could assist my family and me, in finding the cheapest gas station around my current home since I primarily fuel at gas stations near there. In the past, I used to drive to different gas stations in the neighborhood to check the prices of each station until I found the one with the cheapest prices. At times I ended up driving back to the previous station to get the lowest prices. The gas stations are only a few short blocks or up to ½ a mile away from one another so it was not a big burden to drive back and forth. The first thing I did was research apps and find an app that...

Ford Motor Company

...Chapter 5 Case – “Ford Motor Company” Instructor: Professor Pamela McLaughlin Course: Management of Concepts – BUS 302 Date: July 17, 2011 * This case outlines 4 strategic options Ford is pursuing to increase its profitability. Describe each of the 4 options. For each option list 2 criteria you would use to evaluate the option. The four strategic option that Ford Motor Company might pursue to increase its profitability is to (1) close down older plants in an effort to realign production and sales, (2) move the company to produce only smaller cars, eliminating or sharply reducing the SUV and truck lines, (3) take a dramatic step of dramatically reducing their North American presence and focus their efforts on international markets where they have been very successful, and (4) sell the entire PAG group, letting someone else figure out how to make money selling so few vehicles a year (Case Study, para. 3). When looking at any strategic plan, one needs to identify the decision criteria. Decision criteria are the standards used to guide judgment and decisions, states Chick Williams in Management. Naturally, the more criteria a possible solution meets, the better that solution will be. Two of the criteria that Ford would need to consider if taking the option to close down older plants would be, buying out workers (severance agreement) and dealing with the political implications of a closure. A buy-out agreement results from the collective bargaining process between...

Credit vs. Debit

...not an option when making large purchases because of the possibility of losing it or the possibility of being robbed. Credit cards offer more security and it is much safer and easier to use a credit card. Very few businesses offer a reward while paying with cash. However when one pays with a credit card, the company normally offers the buyer a rewards program where they can earn something back on the purchases they make. Credit card companies offer a “Cash-Back Card” which allows the user to receive cash back at the end of the month when a certain amount of money is spent. A “Points Card” allows the user to accumulate points and exchange them for gift cards to restaurants, gas stations, shops, markets and other establishments. Lastly, there is a “Miles Card,” which allows the user to earn airfare mileage with the purchases made, which is basically earning free money. An example of one of these programs is evident in my personal credit card company....

Natural Gas as an Alternative of Gasoline

...Abstract Most vehicles that use gas function using compressed natural gas (CNG). The safe nature of natural gas has given it preference over other engine driven fuel. One very important factor of following alternative fuel vehicle technology is to control the effect of emission on the environment. Natural gas vehicles do not emit toxic gases like other fueled engines. Natural gas vehicles emit clean gas, have a very clean internal combustion, and emit very few pollutants. The gas emitted by vehicles using natural gas constitute clean air to the environment and clean air standards in most big initialized cities like the United States. Natural gas vehicles burn cleaner than traditionally fuelled vehicles because of the compound composition of natural gas. Natural gas does not emit much of toxic gas; it releases little amounts of propane, ethane, and butane when used in vehicles. The environmental hazards caused by natural gas vehicles are a lot less than those running on traditional fuel vehicles. Global Warming

...Graduation Project Paper Class of 2010 May 29, 2009 Global Warming The most important problem that concerns for many people all over the world is global warming. Global warming is defined as the increase of the average temperature on Earth. As the Earth is getting hotter, disasters like hurricanes, droughts and floods are getting more frequent (by Karin Lindinger). Every problem has its own causes. Scientists have determined that a number of human activities are contributing to global warming by adding excessive amount of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. Besides, global warming by natural and man-made causes. These causes above have the serious consequences. The effects of the global warming are of concern both for the environment and human life. It is impossible to know precisely what will happen to the Earth’s climate in the future. Over the last 100 years, the average temperature of the air near the Earth’s surface has risen a little less than 1 degree Celsius. Does not seem all that much? It is responsible for the conspicuous increase in storms, floods and raging forest fires we have seen in the last ten years. Scientists have determined that a number of human activities are contributing to global warming by adding excessive amounts of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. Greenhouses gases such as carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, methane, fluorocarbons and water vapor accumulate in the atmosphere and trap heat that normally would exit into outer space. Carbon dioxide...

Justification Report

...INTRODUCTION The budget is the financial expression of the project and should accurately reflect the costs of the proposed research/education/service program. The budget justification provides the sponsor agency and reviewers of the application with information such as why costs are programmatically necessary and how they are calculatced. Reviewers will analyze the financial data to determine if the proposed costs are allocable to the program, allowable under federal cost principles or non-federal sponsor guidelines (whichever is applicable), reasonable and treated consistently by the institution and similar organizations. When the University receives an award, the approved budget items become part of the agreement between the University and the sponsor. Only those costs that are included in the budget or re-budgeted costs allowed by the sponsor should be directly charged to the award. If the cost requires prior institutional and/or sponsor approval after the award is made, the approval must be secured before the cost is incurred. Therefore, it is important to develop a budget that will enable the PI to fulfill all of the programmatic requirements of the project. A budget and budget justification must be provided for: • Proposed direct costs • Proposed cost share • Estimated program income, including projected revenue and expenditures • Facilities and Administration (F&A or Indirect Costs) FUNDING SOURCES One of the first steps in developing a budget is...

Internet

...Running head: INTERNET AND EDUCATION IS THE INTERNET A GOOD EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE STEPHANIE HUNT JULY 14, 2013 ENGL 101-D01 Summary In today’s society, students are relying more on the internet for their educational resources. The internet can be a valuable resource in certain situations; however, students should not rely too much on the internet as a resource. Students should use the resources the library has to offer such as books, newspapers, magazines. These resources are more reliable than most internet resources. Resources such as books, newspapers, and magazines are a better choice because they are supported by facts and reliable sources that can be verified. In Judith Levine article “I Surf, Therefore I am” (Salon magazine, 1997) Levine, says, “most of the data my students Net is like trash fish.” I believe she made this statement because she feels most of the information students acquire from the internet is not useful and reliable. Students need to make sure they are getting information from reliable sources. I am guilty of using an internet as a resource to study for a quiz and I did not do well on the quiz because some of the information was not reliable. On another note, the internet has been a valuable educational resource for me and other online students. University’s like Liberty University that offers online education is a great resource for adult learners...
