Gasparilla Island is a small, remote island that offers a little bit of paradise to those who come to visit it. Much of the charm of this island lies in its beaches. There are several beaches that are available for the public to use. Each of them has wonderful features that make them necessary stops while you are on the island. Take a look at everything the beaches on Gasparilla Island have to offer.

Location
Gasparilla Island is a barrier island that is located on the border of Charlotte and Lee Counties in Southwest Florida. The Gulf of Mexico is to the west, Charlotte Harbor is to the southeast, and Gasparilla Sound is to the north. The Sound separates Gasparilla Island from Little Gasparilla Island and the mainland.

Dogs are allowed at all of the beaches, and there is also a limited amount of free parking. Visitors should be aware, though, that there are no restroom facilities for public use. These beaches are ideal for those who are looking for someplace to spend a quiet day at the beach soaking in the sun and playing in the surf.

State Park System Beaches
There are four main public beaches on this island that are run by the State Park System. These beaches all require a small entry fee. All of these beaches can be reached by driving south on Gulf Boulevard, which dead-ends into Lighthouse Park. Visitors should be aware that none of these beaches have lifeguards.
Sandspur Beach
This beach features a lighthouse, picnic tables and favorable restrooms.
Seagrape Beach
This beach is great for splashing in the waves. Visitors should note that the only restroom facility at this beach is a port-o-potty,
Seawall Beach

During these times, many shells can be found both on the beach and in the shallow waters near the shore. Lighthouse Park and Boca Grande pass are the best places to look for shells.

Fishing
Some of the best fishing in the state of Florida can be found in the town of Boca Grande, which is on the island. At one time, it was the heart of commercial mullet fishing for the country, producing as many as 24 million pounds of mullet a year. Currently, there is a greater focus on recreational and sport fishing. Anglers can easily cast a rod and undoubtedly hook any number of species including tarpon, snook, redfish, and speckled trout. You can either fish independently or hire one of the many charters that are located near the beaches.
