...Project For my course project I will do an observational taste study of Gatorade vs. Vitamin water. In this study orchestrated a blind taste test to see how many people prefer Gatorade over Vitamin Water. I set up a table with a pitcher of orange vitamin water and orange Gatorade. The pitchers were labeled 1 and 2. 1 was the vitamin water and 2 was the Gatorade. The test was done at a community football game. During timeouts and halftime, players were given the option to taste both pitchers and see which they preferred. There were 20 players and 5 coaches. The study showed that 15 out of 20 players preferred Gatorade over Vitamin Water and 3 out of 5 coaches preferred Vitamin Water over Gatorade.. At the end of the game I passed out a survey sheet with a list of questions asking which pitcher they preferred and why. I also asked after drinking the beverage did they notice any improvements to their performance while playing. All player noticed improvements to their performance. They felt hydrated and less fatigue than normal. After gathering all my data I came to the conclusion that 75 percent of people prefer Vitaminwater over Gatorade for taste. However, most players preferred Gatorade because they felt minor improvements to their performance. The number one reason for choosing Gatorade was of energy and hydration. In part C of this project I did a health comparison of Vitamin Water vs Gatorade. | |...

...Gatorade had about 78.1% (based on sales) market share of sport drinks in the United States in the year of 2015. Consumers choose Gatorade over their biggest competitor-Powerade, since Gatorade better meets their consumers’ needs. Bryan found that there are some typical characteristics of Gatorade. It contains 160 milligrams of sodium and 45 milligrams of potassium per serving, while Powerade contains 150 milligrams and 35 milligrams. Gatorade contains table sugar and another simple sugar compound, while Powerade’s sugar content comes from high-fructose corn syrup. Gatorade is slightly superior at replacing lost electrolytes but inferior at replacing vitamins (Bryan, 2015). When you perspire, your body loses about 900 to 1400 milligrams of sodium per liter of sweat (Shirreffs & Maughan, 2000). Sodium plays an important role in human’s blood; sufficient sodium in the blood helps keep a sufficient balance of water in the blood. It is very important to replace the sodium and water lost when sweating. The sodium content in Gatorade is on average 450 milligrams per liter; however, Powerade only has 225 milligrams per liter, just half of Gatorade’s. Thus, in consumers’ point of view, Gatorade will do a better job to replace sodium lost in sweat compared to Powerade. This is one of the main reasons that consumers buy Gatorade not Powerade. Gatorade contains 6% of sugar, whereas Powerade contains 8% of sugar; Gatorade has a simple sugar compound, whereas Powerade’s sugar comes from...

...Nutri, Health, & Wellness w/ Lab 8 February 2014 Water: An Overlooked Essential Nutrient Welcome, my name is Karina Padilla I am a registered dietician. I have invited you to lunch and learn about, what you will select for a yearlong beverage contract from these three choices water, Gatorade, and Powerade. The role of water in our body are giving cell life, where water is a carrier, distributing essential nutrients to cells as minerals, vitamins, and glucose. It also has chemical and metabolic reactions as it removes waste products including toxins that the organ cells reject and removes through urine and feces. Water is a transport of nutrients in the biochemical break down of what we eat. H2O regulates body temperature, it has a large heat capacity which helps limit changes in body temperature in a warm or cold environment. The elimination of water is an effective lubricant around joints and acts as a shock absorber for eyes, brain, and spinal cord. The goal of drinking fluids during exercise is to prevent dehydration and maintain performance. Fluids preferably with carbohydrates and electrolytes, should be consumed in small amounts every 15 to 20 minutes during exercise. Water and electrolytes serve very important roles in the functioning of the body and sweating can lead to excessive losses of both critical nutrients if not properly replaced. Dehydration and electrolyte imbalances can adversely impact health and exercise performance. The magnitude of fluid...

...I have learned that too much of anything is bad for you so you always have to keep a moderation of anything and everything. We need saturated and unsaturated fats but we have to understand the common misconception between them. “While it is well known that there are saturated and unsaturated fats, fewer people are aware that unsaturated fats are further classified into two other groups:monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats.” (Saturated Fats vs Unsaturated Fats) There is a third type of fat known as a trans fat. Trans fats are actually a kind of unsaturated fat, but they stand out from other types of fat because they very rarely occur in foods naturally. There is a third type of fat known as a trans fat. ...Welter-Weight of plant growing: Water VS other liquids Purpose of Project The purpose of this project is to see if there is a difference in how plants grow based on what they are watered with. By watering five different plants with five different liquids and measuring them daily we will prove or disprove the hypothesis. Problem of the Project Different liquids contain different additives and nutrients that could potentially affect the growth of a plant. This project will reveal how different liquids affect the growth of plants. Various research has been done that will support the problem of what liquid can stimulate the growth of a plant more successfully. By measuring each plant after watering them with the six liquids, the liquid that allows the plants’ growth will result in an increase in length. Research Question What are the effects of skim milk, water, Vitamin Water (orange gatorade), coffee (Yuban), Minute Maid 100% Apple Juice on pea seeds? Research Predictions Coffee will do the best because of all the protein and nutrients in it. Hypothesis: If the same type of seeds are planted in a controlled setting and different types of liquids are used to “water” the seeds, then the liquids that have the right nutrients for the plants will cause the seeds to grow. Experimental Design: The independent variables - The 5 liquids chosen were: •Skim Milk •water •Vitamin Water (Orange Gatorade) •Black Coffee (Yuban) ...

...Sports Drink vs. Water In a society where athletes strive to maintain a healthy life, how do sports drinks contribute to their well-being ? Sports drinks are proven not to be as healthy as water, but these drinks can offer an athlete the little things that make a big difference such as fluids and carbohydrates. Some only view the negatives of sports drinks, but what about the positives ? For example, in the article ,”Obey your thirst, just not necessarily with a sports drink, Jennifer Sygo states, “Depending on the situation, the added sugar in sports drinks can do an important job, by providing hard-working muscles with rapidly available carbohydrates, usually in the form of simple sugars.” Although there may be added sugar in these drinks,...

...* DAY1 * What is Sports Marketing? It depends! (IV League Schools say!) * We need to influence and Persuade! * Sponsorship “getting the bat in the hands of the right player” * IMGbiggest sports marketing agency in the world, Mark McCormick, said “it is putting a celebrity/athlete with a product/company”….and that is it. * Louis Shefield* wanted NBA basketball team in Miami (Miami Heat). He said “its easy to fill a stadium once, but each time its hard”. He saw that basketball would get bigger than it was and it needed to go to Miami. He said sports marketing is just about “Sagacity.” * Sagacity A vision for the future. Example by Louis, Nike taking swoosh off bottom of shirt and putting it on the chest. And, the only reason we know about Ted Turner is because of exposure. Active and innovate an idea. Dictionary Definition: foresight, discernment, or keen perception; ability to make good judgments. Seeing a trend and executing it! Execute your idea and fulfill what you start! * Tommy Karam Wanted to turn LSU scoreboard into a marketing opportunity by putting ads on it using triplicates (3 rotations: purple, purple and tiger stadium, then purple, tiger stadium and a company’s name). He thought this would be sagacity! He spoke with a man at Exxon and he liked Karam’s idea and Karam sold the sponsorship to Exxon for $250,000 per scoreboard (when they were going for around $300,000). Karam later found out that corporate signage is against University procedures...

For this reason I chose Weider workout equipment. I’ve been building my own gym now for about 2 years and I would like to think I had a pretty good selection of workout equipment. I chose Weider because every time I step into a gym the majority of weight and weight equipment I see is Weider. Apparently they make a pretty good product. Academy and Pre-owned Fitness equipment are the 2 places I go to purchase the free weights and dumbbells that I have. To me it is a very big decision making process, I say that because I try to get dumbbells every 2 sizes up from where I am lifting to that point. Currently...

The Pepsi-Cola Company is the world’s second largest beverage company. Pepsi-Cola beverages are available in about 170 countries. The product that has given the world its best-known taste was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 8, 1886. Dr. John Stith Pemberton, a local pharmacist, produced the syrup for Coca-Cola, and carried a jug of the new product down the street to Jacobs' Pharmacy, where it was sampled, pronounced "excellent" and placed on sale for five cents a glass as a soda fountain drink. Carbonated water was teamed with the new syrup to produce a drink that was at once "Delicious and Refreshing," a theme that continues to echo today wherever Coca-Cola is enjoyed. The company markets its beverages under various brand names, including Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Fanta, and Sprite. The Coca-Cola Company also produces and markets noncarbonated beverages, including waters and flavored waters, juice and juice drinks, energy and sports drinks, teas,...

...Coca-Cola vs. Pepsi Co 2 1. Using the current ratio, discuss what conclusions you can make about each company’s ability to pay current liabilities (debt). The current ratio measures the company’s ability to pay its short term obligations with its short term assets. Between Coca Cola and PepsiCo, PepsiCo has a higher current ratio implying that is more capable of paying its obligations. The debt management policies of Coca-Cola in conjunction with share repurchase program and investment activity resulted in current liabilities exceeding current assets. From the ratio Pepsi Co suddenly had to pay all its short-term creditors, it would be able to do so and have a surplus of 44% of current assets. If Coca-Cola had to pay all its short-term obligations, it would have only 13% surplus of current assets after fully repaying all short term obligations. Therefore, it can be said that PepsiCo is more liquid than Coca Cola based on its current ratio. | Coca-Cola | Pepsi Co. | Current Ratio | 1.13 | 1.44 | 2. Using the profitability ratios, discuss what conclusions you can make about each company’s profits over the past three years. The return on assets ratio is an indicator of how profitable a company is relative to its total assets. Pepsi Co’s return on assets ratio is 14.92, slightly higher than the industry’s Coca-Cola vs. Pepsi Co ...
