These two doctors were interviewed plenteously and had swayed the public opinion of the war. “They described Israel as a brutal aggressor collectively punishing the entire Palestinian population in Gaza of 1.5 million people, murdering innocent civilians, violating international law and committing war crimes.” The author wanted to know if these reporters were bias and the credibility of their sources. The Israeli newscast had reported a couple of hundreds of Palestinian deaths when there was actually thousands. Israel had a “media blockade” to influence the public view of the war. The author issues a key statement when he says that “source credibility is often a decisive component in assessing whether reporting is truthful, impartial and accurate, and can be decisive for the formation of public opinion.” I think that using these two doctors as sources to the journalists is exceptionally credible to the public. It was vital that there were two foreigners inside the Gaza Strip to affirm the state of the conflict because the opinion of the Arabs did not matter to much of the people. Through these situations, outer forces, such as Britain, have attempted avaricious approaches to the predicament, which ultimately led to the eruption between the two parties[1]. Beginning with World War 1, The Sykes-Picot Agreement, and the Arabs, following through to The Balfour Declaration with the Jews, showed that the respective parties were forced to rely on outside forces to help mend their broken hearts full of nationalism and possession[2]. It is safe to say that these two breeds of strong-hearted individuals made an impact in more places than Palestine itself. With Britain’s reign over the land, it was the duty of the Arabs and the Jews to get along with one another as best as they could, provided that Britain would give each party what they were owed[3].
