Personal Responsibility
Even though independence can possibly make you stubborn, being independent is my personal responsibility because it allows you to create a future for yourself and sets you apart from most others.
In this essay I will discuss the power that independence has in creating a better future for yourself while showing that you have a strength that most others don’t possess. It is my personal responsibility not only for those reasons but also it was the way I was raised. “Personal responsibility is taught.” (Guthrie, Sarah, 2008, para. 2). I wouldn’t have these skills if I wasn’t taught how to develop them. It can have its downfalls however just like most things do, but they are not weakness that can’t be fixed.
Independence is my personal responsibility because it is what drives me in my social and educational life. I have achieved things at my age because of my independence, I am not afraid to travel in uncharted waters or point out flaws in a plan. I am a self-sufficient because I have always learned to do things on my own and to not wait around for things to be done for me. I have had to be self-motivated because my success or failure rests solely on my own shoulders. I use this in my educational life since no one else is going to do it for me, I must finish myself.
We are all trying to create a future for ourselves and being independent has helped me to do that. I set goals for myself constantly whether they are personal, educational, or career based and I am determined to reach them no matter how hard they may be. If I was not independent I wouldn’t be where I am today, because I don’t settle. I know what I want in life, school, and work and nothing gets in the way of what I wish to achieve. I have to keep a goal oriented mindset to get through my program and cross

Personal Responsibility Essay

...Personal Responsibility Essay GEN/200 Month Date, Year Professor Week 5: Personal Responsibility Essay: Final Draft To achieve academic success, students must practice personal responsibility through effective time management and communication. Personal responsibility also can be referred to as Accountability that is defined by Merriam-Webster as “the quality or state of being accountable; an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or to account for one’s actions.” http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/accountability. In my own words, being responsible is the same as being honest with oneself and possessing the honor and integrity to own up to all your decisions and accepting each consequence if one decides whether or not to follow through. Eleanor Roosevelt was quoted for saying; “In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility.” http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/tag/personal-responsibility. I agree with Eleanor Roosevelt because I control my own destiny. It is up to me to know the difference between right and wrong and make a wise decision. I know that any decisions I make will come with results. Results that I must maintain a focus mind on no matter what the consequences may be as well as understanding how it could affect the ones around me. A preliminary plan to practice personal responsibility in my education would be time management...

Personal Responsibility Essay

...Sasha Rosenberg Gen 200 Personal Responsibility Essay Personal responsibility is when a person holds himself/herself accountable for their actions. It is so easy to blame others for the decision that one makes. When one maturely deals with their actions and consequences, whether it involves work, school, family, friends, etc that is personal responsibility. How many times have we heard both children and adults say, “It wasn’t me! ”? Especially when there is a big group, fingers are always pointing at someone instead of the one at fault taking responsibility. Their are several actions educators can take that will help them handle mistakes in ways that will be to their advantage in the long term, including admitting errors and talking about a problem (Glenn, 1999) . Admitting responsibility shows maturity. Every person has the opportunity to make his or her own choices. It is important to make a choice that one feels is the best for him or her. We tend to make excuses for our behaviors, which is the worst approach one can take. Sometimes people tend to let other people influence their choices, which is not always the best. No one knows more what he or she wants than himself or herself. Sometimes other people my try to influence a person’s decision or make the decision for that person and it is not okay. A person needs to confront their his or her decisions, whether the decisions good or bad. Making the right choice is not always easy, it is a long thought...

Personal Responsibiity

...Personal Responsibility and College Success Gen 200/Version 3 April 1, 2013 Abstract Personal responsibility is a value that many people have lost in their lives, especially when it comes to things of great importance like family, work, and school. The main focus of this essay is on the importance of personal responsibility in a specific setting, college, but reflecting on an even more personal level, my individual personal responsibility for college success. Applying this value to my already set standard of ethics, my studies, goals, and plan I have set up for myself is only half of the work. Personal Responsibility and College Success According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the word “responsibility” can be defined as, “the quality or state of being responsible: as a: moral, legal, or mental accountability, b: reliability, trustworthiness (Merriam-Webster Incorporated, 2013).” Add “personal” in front, and the responsibility now becomes solely that of the individual. Personal responsibility is a large aspect of maturity. Acknowledging this point leads me to state that personal responsibility and college success go hand in hand, and I am personally responsible for my success or failure as a person, or in this specific situation, a student. As a student, teachers, advisors, counselors, and others of that variety provide the tools necessary, but it is my personal responsibility to use these productively and positively; I must create a plan, and be personally responsible...

Having journeyed through a different perspective on the revelation/authority of Scripture and then returning to the position that I now hold, I am convinced that this issue is basic to all other issues in the church. The destiny of our church depends on how its members regard the revelation and authority of the Bible. In the following pages I have summarized the biblical self-testimony on its revelation and authority. The major focus of the paper is biblical authority, but a short statement concerning revelation-inspiration-illumination introduces the subject, and other biblical testimony on the nature of revelation is subsumed under the discussion of biblical authority. The paper also includes a brief historical treatment of the Enlightenment and post-Enlightenment understandings of biblical revelation/authority and an analysis and critique of their basic presuppositions in light of Scripture. Following the conclusion, a selected bibliography of sources cited and other...

Joshua Oldham

...Joshua Oldham 14 April 2015 GEN 200 Final Essay As I went through this class this semester we discussed things from Time Management Skills, to Plagiarism, from identifying Personal Learning styles to using sources in a paper. I was reminded that even academically I need to set achievable goals to achieve bigger goals. Doing this will lead to much better success, and will help in my success in my career as I carry on the same routine there. So as I took this class I came up with a few educational goals, two of those goals were to graduate with a total Grade Point Average of 3.5, and to do my best to graduate a semester early. I also came up with a couple career goals, one is that wherever I go teach that I have an average of 3.0 grade from my classes and full comprehension of what I teach. I also want to become a head coach of a High School football team within five years of my graduation date. I also was reminded, not just by the lesson, but with misuse of time, that Time Management Skills are not just important in my career and life, but also extremely important in my academic success. The writing process can help you advance in your education and your career by giving you the confidence to present yourself in writing. The writing process is quite useful in a career aspect. Knowing how to use the writing process can give you tools to advance in your career. For example, a well written resume can mean the difference between getting an interview and not. Also...

Pros and Cons to Vaccination in Children

...best for their child to protect him or her. Some people have different opinions on what the best specifically entails when it comes to childhood vaccines. Vaccinations are a controversial discussion as parents question whether it should be mandatory or optional when they feel the cons outweigh the pros. The government says it is the right thing to do for parents and their families to remain safe from illnesses and diseases. However, there have been opinions of opposition voiced by parents and health advocates about whether or not it is worth the risk of being sick once vaccinated and whether these vaccinations actually work. The argument on both sides range from First Amendment right issues all the way to disabling health concerns. This essay will serve to examine and elaborate both the positive and negative perspectives on vaccinations in infants and children and why certain parents hesitate in vaccinating their children. The center of disease and control prevention(CDCP) claim there are five important vaccinations every child should receive. The chicken pox vaccine, measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) Vaccine, the Hepatitis vaccine, the haemophilus influenza type B(HIB) Vaccine, and pneumococcal conjugate vaccine. The chicken pox vaccine is probably the most common immunization.  Chicken pox is an airborne disease that spreads quickly among younger children.  Some symptoms include fever and an itchy, bumpy red rash.  Before the vaccination came to pass, approximately 100 people on...
