It is not a debate when it comes to women and discriminated against in the work place it is evident according to Sarah Glynn's article “ On Pay Equity, why women paid less than men”. And even today, there is still pay gap between men and women. The issue has been around for many years. There were laws that tried to prevent such oppression towards women. Such as the Feminist Movement and Equal Pay Act. But due to gender role as women role as being the primary care givers and kept at lower paying jobs that are more flexible and many other changing roles in society has resulted in the workplace problem. Although women are allowed to work at the same place and level as men but they are not rewarded or compensated as one. The situation could be avoided if jobs were to be family oriented. That way both men and women would receive equal pay. Since women can work but it doesn't change who they are. Women have always been discriminated against as the weak gender. In some discriminatory views as homemaker and mother. Their job to cook meals, do laundry and manage children activities. Even today, these are primary role for them and if not they are considered selfish. They have been brand as stay at home and take care of children. Those who thought to establish an careers outside the home were considered selfish and self centered to my knowledge. Even today they are not treated equally as men.In the past, women have fought for their rights and was taken many years for women to be viewed as equal to men in the workplace. Although many believed that men and women are treated equally but many studies show that men an women are paid unequally for doing that same work.
