...personal experience of this kind. The author of this article had a friend who was driving down a country road texting while driving. He swerved left of center and hit a box truck head on and died instantly. Everyone in high school at the time knew him so it was quite devastating to the entire student body. There were grief counselors on site for a couple weeks after he passed away. This incident shows how a simple act can instantly affect everyone so quickly. There are more and more texting while driving injuries and deaths happening every day. A lot of these injuries and deaths are in states with lenient texting while driving laws. If communities in the states with these lenient laws helped raise awareness, people may think twice before texting while driving and also raising awareness could possibly lead to the chance to change some laws. Some people believe texting while driving laws make people have to hide their texting behind the wheel, thus making it more dangerous (Masnick, 2012). Regardless of opinions, studies show that there is a significant difference in the number of violations between states with lenient laws and states with strict laws (Masnick, 2012). Texting while driving laws are not strict enough in certain states, making citizens of those states not take texting while driving laws serious, which could possibly cause more accidents and even death....

...Journal 01 Week: Two Date:18/08/2010 Words: 532 Task/Incident: Introducing and Socializing Selecting & Describing With the fear of not knowing anyone I entered in the first class of the Leadership and Organisation Dynamics. As not being a native English speaker I was worried that either the members of the groups will take me into their groups. As the class began my tutor John asked us to write our names in a tag and wear it, we were also required to sit in away so that we are facing each other in the class. John then asked to start the first activity which was to introduce the member sitting in front of each of the students. My mate sitting in front of me was Liam and he is working in hospital as a part time employee. On the other hand Abdul sitting next to me is doing HR as major. I felt that by undertaking this activity john was trying to develop our team or classmates and build strong relationship within our group. The activity enabled students get to know each other and It was about to think which group or people I would join for the group task. Finally at the end of the class john formed us in a small group and also helped us to understand the unit outline. Reflecting & Inferring By being a part of the introductory class I realised that we were all in the same track and therefore we needed to introduce ourselves so that we can all reach our task. The first task was to form PLG(Peer Learning Group) which did require us to know each other so that we are...

...make sure you are aware of how your behavior and personality is affecting others. When you interact with each group, you should accept every person for who they are and not the current state of their life in general. Furthermore, you must show interest in helping them, while having the patience and understanding to do so (Burger & Youkeles, 2004, p. 195). One of the best strategies used for communicating with each of these clients are listening, communicating, giving honest feedback, observing their visual cues in order to gain insight, or to clarify their situations back to them to make sure you understand it by highlighting their struggles. Then summarize the situation and struggles to see what their most current, pressing needs are that you could help them take care of (Burger & Youkeles, 2004, p. 202). Moreover, in order to adapt your communication approach from one individual to the next you must be aware of what your personal attitudes, biases, beliefs, and knowledge about different cultures that make up your client base in order to consider everyone’s problems objectively, which allows you to define them correctly, make valid assessments, and present a solution that is acceptable to your client. Most important, you must have multicultural awareness in order to meet the ever changing needs that...

...a social movement. While social movements have different goals to work toward. They have two main goals to start with. Social movements also have different goals at different stages of their movement but there are two goals that remain throughout. One of their two main goals is to raise awareness of a social problem. Then the second goal is to get the whole society to recognize the social problem and get it changed. These goals work together to start the movement. The organization must come together over the same social problem. They bring people in who believe in their problem. These people must organize and strategize their organization to have the same vision. They have these people to spend time and money to draw awareness to the problem. They do this to bring in more people into their organization and expand their organization. Once the organization expands large enough they begin to make awareness more prominent. The larger the organization the more areas that can be covered to make the problem more seen and the more resources that are available. They can use pamphlets, speeches, leaflets, media, and many other sources to get society to notice the social problem. Once the awareness of the problem is big enough there are steps taken to get the problem fixed. The problem is an unwanted social situation and is needed to be changed. That is why the organization began. Depending on the social problem the answer can be easily fixed. However, the solution may not be as easily...

Empathy is about understanding others. Empathy is more a sense that one can truly understand or imagine the depth of another person’s feelings. It implies feeling with a person, rather than feeling sorry for a person. Healing is the process of recovery to get back to the original. In case of conflict servant leader must work to resolve that conflict. Only then things can become stronger and smooth. ...Surveillance Awareness Project A proposal prepared by Team Underachievers Shea Polansky Gabriela Cde Baca Jacob Nevarez Elliot Nicholas For Dr. Natasha Jones University of New Mexico 2014-10-21 Team Underachievers Memo TO:Dr. Natasha Jones FROM:Team Underachievers DATE:2014-10-7 SUBJECT:Proposal PURPOSE:To acquaint you with our proposal Dear Dr. Jones, Edward Snowden’s leaks about the National Security Agency’s mass surveillance programs created a global debate about privacy, security, and safety. The NSA has the capability to read email, snoop on private social network conversations, observe phone call records, and track the physical locations of citizens not charged nor suspected of any crime, without so much as a warrant. Worse, the demographic most affected this level of snooping on our digital lives, the 18-24 year-old college crowd, is the least knowledgeable and most politically apathetic about the issue. This is a recipe for disaster, and this proposal seeks funding for an awareness campaign that will address it. This campaign will raise awareness about mass surveillance and the Snowden disclosures. We will use posters and flyers to dry attention to the issue. We will use the University of New Mexico as a testing ground, using before and after surveys to gauge effectiveness. If the campaign proves successful, we will recruit volunteers and raise a second round of funding to bring the campaign to college campuses across...

...is to help professional socialization by instilling an understanding of the relevant ethical principles and standards to be a significant component in providing therapeutic rapports. The primary reasons for clinical supervisions are to ensure quality care and provide professional development in a systematic and planned manner. ...pass an ordinance to raise fines for littering across our town. In continuing to unite the community of Burleson, keeping this city beautiful plays a major part. Littering is just one way in which our town becomes less unified, so I would fight to stop this disrespect of our city. I would also try to organize more money into a budget for making our city more beautiful. This budget would cover more landscaping and maintenance projects across the community. Another thing I would do as mayor would be to set aside more money in our budget to go towards our city’s drug awareness program. It is sad heart-breaking and devastating to see so many of our promising teenagers and young adults turning to drugs, alcohol, and substance abuse. In strengthening this program, more and more teenagers could become aware of their reckless behavior and the affects that come with the decisions they make. By bringing about this awareness in our youth we can ultimately create a generation of, honest, engaged, and active members of our community. All of these ideas factor into uniting our town...

...The economy today is much more global than it was just a few decades ago and everyday there are more and more transactions of goods and services between different countries. Each country has their own advantages and disadvantages and because of this trading between countries is mutually beneficial. Having never left the southeast United States, I would definitely benefit from this grant so that I could see the world and give myself a better understanding of how the future of business will be like. With so many countries being involved with each other exchanging goods and services, it is essential to understand how these relationships work and what makes these transactions run as smoothly as they do. With any international business you are involved with people that have different cultures and beliefs than your own. Observing and seeing these differences first hand can do nothing but help the way that one communicates with people from other countries that you may be involved with. Studying abroad will not only improve communication skills with people from other countries but it can also change the way that you view your own thoughts and beliefs by being aware of how other people in the world live. Being surrounded by people your entire life that have similar ideas and beliefs as your own, can shelter you from opposing views. Being able to witness first hand the way others live will allow me to have a better understanding of different cultures and how to best live in the growing...

...Problem: Aqualisa creates a new breakthrough shower- the Quartz. The product has significant improvements when compared with the other existing products on the market, such as: * Efficient and reliable water pressure and temperature * One touch control on the wall * Light signaling the right temperature is achieved etc * Installation of the Quartz was about half a day (vs. 2 days for other showers) Survey shows that consumers and plumbers loved the product. However, initial sales are low, mainly due to low consumer awareness and plumbers’ reluctance to new products. Where does the problem lie in the funnel? Consumers are uninformed about showers, with little understanding of the products options. Thus, plumbers have a greater influence when selecting the brand, as only in 27% of the times consumers select type and brand of the shower, otherwise plumbers influence on the purchase. Lack of knowledge leads to lack of brand awareness. Options: 1. Targeting consumers directly: -Expensive to have a proper ad campaign (costs 3 to 4 M Euro) - The consumers decide only 27% of the time (ex 4) +Consumers could become more brand aware +Easier to reach consumers than plumbers 2. Targeting Do-It- Yourselfers -Lower-end part of the market thus will be price conscious, have to lower prices -The brand will be perceived as a lower quality brand, due to the new niche market +Could “push” the product through partnership (B&Q) thus have lower costs than running...
