The fascinating world of applications

Viewing the video of HP Device TouchPad we realize how touch technology is changing the world. Last week in our last meeting we talked about Apple as an example of a company of innovation, globalization and number one in its sector. My introduction is based on my own personal experience with the number one device in Touch applications. Arround three months ago my girlfriend bought me a 16GB iPad. The reality, especially the numbers mantein that electronic tablet devices are exceeding expectations from every point of view: only in its first trading day in the United States, Apple had sold arround 300,000 units and nearly one million applications had been downloaded. Apple's virtual store had about 250,000 e-books downloaded from the iBookstore. So if anyone had any doubts about the potential of this device, we can say that was wrong. This does not mean that everyone is 100% agree with iPad or there is no criticism of some of its features, but while we will discuss this issue, we can not deny that in the consumer market, its presence is more than striking.

In terms of functionality, you can view photos, maps and videos, read newspapers, magazines and books, sail on the web, view emails, listen music, play and download hundreds of applications. Not being able to use multiple applications at the same time or without the chance to use Flash Format makes iPad less efficient. After its first public appearance in our society there was a rumor that the device was simply a lie talking about security terms just a day before the launch a hacker was able to unlock it. What he did was to achieve break down the barriers of Apple, which only allows the software that the company approves.

Another issue that people say against the electronic device is the overheating, it seems that after several hours exposure to the sun the device overheats and crashes. One point that remains to be seen is what devices run some risk from the emergence of the iPad. As we know, this tablet is a hybrid between a laptop and a mobile phone. Of course mobile phones are not going to dissapier because they are indirect competition, but what about notebooks? what about netbooks? What will happen with this business in the future? Will the price of these devices go down in some years?
