...September 11, 2001 changed the lives of everyone. 2,977 dead and millions of families grieved. Two very important people who grieved as well, but showed an infinite amount of support through the years were: President George Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair. They both gave speeches on the incident and said some encouraging yet heartfelt words towards the families affected and towards our nation. Each took their own interesting routes, but overall had the same supportive conclusion. President George Bush as leader of our nation had to take a more serious and optimistic path. He tried to lead us to believe that even though we suffered a great lost, the future will always be better. He uses Anaphora to show us that even though we were going through a rough patch our battle wasn’t finished. “We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail.” President Bush doesn’t fail to reassure us that the grass is always greener on the other side. Bush shows off his optimistic tone with this line “It is my hope that in the months and years ahead, life will return almost to normal.” He has hope for a better tomorrow. The diction used in that statement leads us to believe that Bush was ready to stop dwelling in the past. His syntax in this speech was off the charts as he tries to leave off with a speech that is almost like the speech a general gives his troops right before a battle. Words like “determined”, “strong”, “freedom”, and “courage” leave us with a taste for victory...

...George Bush is one of those Presidents that people loved to hate. His antics in international meetings would always stir up controversy and elicit eye rolls. His quotes here in America didn't help his case for national genius either. However, he did have his moments on the positive side as well. Whatever you think about George Bush, here are some fun, true stories of our former Commander-In-Chief. As I said, George Bush was known for saying some hilarious things to less-than-amused heads of state. His most famous foreign banter-buddy was Vladimir Putin. The first time he met the intrepid leader, he claimed to "see his soul." It went downhill from there. Bush nicknamed the Russian leader "Pootie-Put." Putin wasn't the only victim of questionable nicknames. Bush was famous for his affinity for giving people silly aliases. The former Prime Minister of Canada, Jean Chretien, received the unfortunate nickname of "Dinosaur." Dick Cheney, his Vice President, earned the nickname "Big Time," his adviser to the Environment became "Tree Man," and John Boehner became "Boner." The list is too long to continue. Speaking of Bush's knack for stupid nicknames, he often made headlines for the pearls of wisdom he would offer to the media. On January 11th, 2000, he made the famous statement, "Rarely is the questioned asked: Is our children learning?" In 2004, he didn't see the cringe-worthy irony of his statement, "I'm honored to shake the hand of a brave Iraqi citizen who had his hand cut...

...Just Water Under The Bush? By: Janice Foster There is a term that old folks often say to refer to something that has taken place in the past that cannot be changed and therefore you just get over it. This is easier said than done especially if you are the living reminder of what cannot be changed. All of us have been affected by George w. Bush and his administration whether it is good or bad, directly or indirectly. There are some of us who have been affected in ways that you can only imagine. Sometimes even though something has taken place in the past it can have an important bearing on how you prepare for your future. For Katrina and 911 victims, the term may not be so easy to apply in their lives. The presidency of George W. Bush began on January 20, 2001, when he was inaugurated as the 43rd President of the United States of America. George W. Bush is the oldest son of former president George H. W. Bush, George W. Bush was elected president in the 2000 general election, and became the second US president whose father had held the same office. Bush did not get into office without some scandal and controversy because On December 8, 2000, the Supreme Court of Florida ordered that the Circuit Court of Leon County tabulate by hand 9,000 ballots in Miami-Dade County. It also ordered the inclusion in the certified vote totals of 215 votes identified in Palm Beach County and 168 votes identified in Miami-Dade County for Vice President Albert Gore, Jr., and Senator Joseph Lieberman...

...of the day and the urgency for the policy? The Policies Recent American health care and foreign policies were discussed over a span of two different administrations. President Bill Clinton began addressing the gaping problems in the health care system in 1993 and President Barack Obama continued to seek national health solutions in 2009. President G.H. Bush was considered adept at crafting strong foreign policies. George W. Bush experienced the same sentiment until close to the end of his presidency. Historical perspective of the health care policies President Clinton’s health care policy, also known as the Health Security Act was designed by a task force chaired by his wife Hilary Rodham Clinton Health care reform had been a staple of Clinton’s presidential campaign and he fully intended to deliver on his promise with a package palatable to both parties and to the public. On September 22, 1993 he addressed Congress and unveiled a proposal for employers to be mandated to provide health insurance for all their employees. President Obama directed Congress in 1999 to reform the United States health care system. Their efforts resulted in the Affordable Health Care for America Act which was never signed into law. Historical perspective on foreign policies President George H.W. Bush decided not to harshly criticize...

...Hand-in on Bush’s declaration of war. Sept. 20, 2001 - Bush Declares War on Terror Analytical Essay ”On September the eleventh, enemies of freedom committed an act of war against our country.” This is how former president George Walker Bush initiated his speech and declared war on terror. He identifies terrorists as enemies of freedom, but are they? Some people would characterize the word “terrorist” as an emotive. Some people would not know what the difference between a terrorist and a freedom fighter is. That makes me petrified. In 1989, USA won the cold war. Many historians and sociologist expeditiously agreed that there now was brought an end to the century of extremes, and the new world order could begin. One of them was Eric Hobsbawn, who stated USA as the, now only, superpower in the world. From 1989-2001, USA transformed the western values such as market economy and democracy to the rest of the world. In this period, USA solved many international conflicts and orderly made the world a better place. I sat down and thought about, why anyone would start this war against terror, who started it, and who was to blame for it? In this analytical essay, I will go through the main points in Bush’s speech. For instance, what does he mean, when he says: “The terrorists are traitors to their own faith”? Furthermore, I will go deeply into the consequences of the war on terror. Can the war on terror have had an effect on the globalization? If so, how big an impact has it played...
