The JEFFERSON COUNTY EGAN MURDERS NIGHTMARE on NEW YEAR’S EVE 1964” by Dave Shampine and David T. Boyer This truly accurate story happened right in Watertown NY at a rest area near route 81. All three Egan’s (Barbara Ann, Peter, and Gerald Egan” were murdered while they were on the “job” on the night of new year’s eve with some “colleagues” or partners you could say. New Year’s Eve is a holiday, a night you want to be with your friends and family. No one would think that on a holiday like this that a murder would take place. Especially for the people in Watertown, New York because on that night was when the triple murder of the Egan’s took place. Barbara, Peter and Gerald Egan were all killed at the rest stop right off of route 81. Gerald and Peter were shot at point blank range in the driver’s and passenger’s seat someone shot them from the back seat. Barbara was found face down outside of the car she too was killed. Barbara was actually supposed to stay alive they had no plans to kill her. She was in the back of the car with the killer that night on the way to the truck stop. Someone …show more content…
Now a days stuff like a car which was a major important piece of evidence in the Egan’s case wouldn’t go missing. They would of put it in a secure location and which the technology we use for fingerprinting and DNA collecting we could easily now find out who was in the car that night and that could tell us who actually killed all three of the Egan’s. The way juries are set up now they have no contact with the ones outside of the case so they don’t have to worry about stuff that will interfere with the juries decisions. Also now they have the equipment where they could actually trace where the threatening call came from. After this case over the years everything has now advanced making investigation better and easier. It has also helped making the court systems jury system
