During Dickens time gift giving for Christmas was not a wide

spread practice as there was not much gift giving in the novel. If I were

to give a gift to Scrooge, Tiny Tim and Bob Cratchit they would have to

be something they would need and use, but they would also have to be

Throughout the novel there are scenes where Tiny Tim is limping

around on his legs with a crutch. If I were to give him a Christmas gift

during his time, it would have to be a wheelchair. A wheelchair would

surely solve some of Tiny Tim's problems and allow him to be more

mobile then what he was with his limp and crutch. Tiny Tim would most

likely have a lot of pain removed if he was able to sit in a wheelchair

rather then limping with a crutch. Throughout England, much money

and energy were being devoted to medical care and its study. It was also

a time where identification, classification and description of diseases

were more widespread. The first wheelchair was not as modern as the

ones available today, however I am sure the early wheelchairs,

sometimes called invalid chairs, would make a great gift.

Scrooge is a very mean and uncaring person, as shown throughout

the novel. He is a man for whom Christmas is a humbug. He doesn't

seem to care about anything or anybody, most likely due to not ever

having anyone to love or care for. For Christmas I would have to give

Scrooge a dog; one that is totally devoted to his master. If Scrooge had a

dog he would have to take care of him, feed him and love him. If

Scrooge were to feel the love and companionship of his dog, his outlook

on life may change and he may not have been such a terrible and greedy

Bob Cratchit is Scrooge's secretary so he would need to do a lot of

writing. During Dickens time the only thing to write with was an ink

Bsa-310 Week 3 Kudler Foods Card Program

...Kudler Fine Foods’ Loyalty Card Program Kudler Fine Foods has submitted a service request to develop a frequent shopper program to track customer trends and give frequent customers rewards for being loyal customers. Many grocery stores have adopted a rewards or loyalty program. This program gives the customers a discount while they shop and sometimes offers rewards and prizes. By using this program, a store also collects valuable data that can be used to specify which customers by certain items. This information can then be used to tailor advertisements and coupons to each customer. This program will hopefully increase sales by providing a more efficient marketing plan to customers. Many other grocery stores have found that using a loyalty program can increase profits and customer base. In a recession, such as the one we are currently experiencing, it is important to maintain the customer base that a company has worked so hard to obtain. According to Colloguy research (as cited in Helbig, 2009), “U.S. consumer participation in rewards programs is on the rise across all demographic segments, . . . Consumers are leaning on loyalty programs to stretch household budgets further by earning rewards for their purchases” (para. 7). Many grocery stores use a loyalty program for tracking customer purchases and offering discounts. This loyalty program comes in the form or a card. When a customer decides they want to part of the loyalty program, they fill out a form. This...

...Sent from my iPhone ACT 1&2 Quotes 1. “They did not celebrate Christmas, and a holiday from work meant only that they must concentrate even more upon prayer.” Act 1, pg. 4 Notes In today’s modern society, not many people around the world practice their religion as much as people used to in the older days. There may be certain exceptions, but generally religion in most places around the world is not as strict on its people as it used to be. Looking back on the lives of these Puritans greatly impacts your perspective on society now. It also impacts your perspective on how we, as people of the U.S. in today’s society, have it easy compared to the Puritans that came long before any of us. The characters of this play lived in a completely different society, where religion controlled every aspect of your life. If you had a day off from work, then praying was the only way free time should be spent. (TW) 2. “The Salem tragedy, which is about to begin in these pages developed from a paradox” Act 1, pg. 6 3. “…slave sense has warned her that, as always, trouble in this house eventually lands on her back” Act 1, pg. 8 The Crucible by Arthur Miller is a story about the tragedies that occur in Salem. I would have to say that tragedy is the big theme of the play because it informs the reader about a true historical time period where many innocent lives have been sacrificed due to witchcraft. These characters enlisted in this play were once...

...powerholders, or cultural beliefs and practices” and were aimed at making churches “safe places” for those with AIDS. This was also while taking “the focus away from the modes of transmission in order to emphasize the disease itself” and to create plausible solutions (Harris 338-339). Other goals included “dealing with the difficult questions of sexuality, gender, economy, culture and factual information about HIV/AIDS and the many epidemics that arise out of a deficient immune system” with the help and support of the church in order emphasize that AIDS affects everyone, and not just those directly infected (Senturias 282). Those who were infected with AIDS and members of the church also wanted to bring acceptance to the fact that “sex is a gift from God” and therefore, must be celebrated (283). This specifically came from the Act Up organization who created the “Stop the Church” movement. They enacted their resistance efforts against the lack of accountability and acknowledgment of AIDS, as well as the misleading messages the church was sending, in which Act Up declared was claiming the lives of even more gay men. On December 10, 1989, in one of the most historical movements against religious messages, they invaded Roman Catholic church, St. Patrick’s Cathedral’s Sunday mass in New York by laying in the aisles of the church, playing dead, and shouting “Stop murdering us!” deeming the bishop a murderer (How to Survive a Plague). This was after the church publicly deemed condoms,...
