...Ms. Barnes February 27, 2012 “The Goal” Essay 1 In Eliyahu Goldratt’s novel “The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement”, he tells a story about a man going through hard times, in both his work life and personal life. Alex works in a manufacturing plant that is barely staying afloat, and his boss has left it up to him to keep the business running with a three-month time span to do it in. Even though “The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement” is just a story, it is still very relatable to businessmen, businesswomen, and students. The three categories of constraints that are shown in the story are knowledge, material, and supplier. The knowledge constraint caused for the manufacturing plant to not be looking at the correct statistics to see the plant’s productivity. Since the managers of the plant were not looking at the correct statistics it led them to believe that the plant was operating at a good level when really they were not at all. Alex learning from Jonah, his physics teacher from school, minimized this constraint. Jonah had a way about him that led for Alex to think deeper then he ever had about the productivity of the plant. Alex came to realize what the actual goal of the plant is (to make money) and what numbers are needed to measure if their goal was being met. Once the knowledge started formulating within Alex he was able to take it to other employees that way people knew how to start acting to achieve the goal of making money. It will be a lot easier...

...I got goals for just about everything in life, but for now I think I’ll stick with my school goals for now. Specifically my school goals for this year, and of course there going to be realistic so not something like straight A’s all trimester/year long. Mainly some goals for my grades, things I hope to have achieved, and possibly some sports goals as well. I’m of course going to start with grades simply because there the key to the other things, without the good grades you won’t be in many sports, and you certainly won’t get anywhere in life with low grades either. So without further a due, here, is my essay... or at least the rest of it. Grades, yes those dreaded things that our parents practically go insane over and yes it is true that we need to keep them good if we have plans on going anywhere in life. But this isn’t a paragraph about grades in general; it’s a paragraph about my grades. So let’s keep on topic here. Business school is not another opportunity to "find yourself." 8:00 AM. July 1, 2030. The 23rd floor of the Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong. A woman sitting behind the mahogany desk calls a Shanghai trader to buy 200,000 shares of Alibaba stock. Moments later, she dashes into a videoconference with Tokyo analysts. When the conference finally concludes two hours later, the woman rushes down the stairs, hails a taxi to the Hong Kong International Airport, catches a flight to Thailand, and ends her day with a meeting with the CFO of Asus Computers. In contrast, money managers examine the current attributes of securities and attempt to predict their future performance; unfortunately, this forward-looking focus is absent in public accounting. ...Macaulay and Rachel Rafelman thru their essays are trying to eradicate the stereotype, they are both almost speaking about the subject in their essays and the tone in the essays are almost the same, funny and at the same time keeping a serious tone underneath, sexism seems also to be a common point for these two author it seems to be the center of pretty much everything they’re talking about. Stereotype in the both essay as been pointed out and the authors seems to take people to that point where they are convicted enough to stop doing that thing which is stereotype not only that but they uses different other article to point to point that and say what think about it, for example, Ronald Macaulay; in his essay “Sex difference” uses novel and different other article to point the stereotype but not only that he also argues about it just as Rachel Rafelman in her essay “Party Line” uses interviews that she makes or other colleague Article to pointed that out and talk about it or argue about it, both author stick with the same idea that lead us to conclude that they are both talking about the same subject but just in two different environment, for example Rafelman in her essay she is at A Gala and Macaulay is just using Article, novel, journal to talk about the subject .
