Romeo and Juliet Lovers torn by two houses forced to see each other under secrecy but how he’s changed like how Rosaline was his first love then she had devotion with herself not to love then he saw Juliet and it was love at first sight. They marry later on but more to talk about throughout this essay. This essay is about the changes Romeo endures during act one to act two. Romeo is love sick. He wants a girl named Rosaline but her devotion to the church and herself of chastity divides them to so Romeo is heartbroken then Benvolio comes to tell him that basically there are other fish in the sea and he needs to keep looking so he insists on going to the Capulet party. They go and he see’s a young woman named Juliet he had totally forgotten about Rosaline. They kiss and he goes from depressed to love again but there’s only one problem. Their from different houses. Now he goes to visit her at night (the balcony scene) so he changes that isolated attitude and goes out to get his lover Juliet. The love sickness goes away because they marry the next mourning. So Romeo has changed from being a being love sick to madly in love with another women. He also becomes a hastier because the young lovers get married the next day in secrecy. Juliet also changes from being this sweet girl who would never disobey her parents she lies to them to go to the church for confession so she can get married. Then right as they get married he runs back to tell the new to Mercutio. Then Tybalt comes to try and fight Romeo how ever he does not want to fight and Mercutio steps in and basically says I’ll fight you. It was a playful fight until Mercutio gets stabbed then he has deep anger for Tybalt. So Romeo goes to confront Tybalt he kills him and you see this dramatic change in Romeo from Happy to anger in roughly an hour then prince banishes Romeo from Verona and they can’t see each other

Rebellion In The Chocolate War

...In the narrative, Jerry’s rebellion causes a fighting match between him and Emile, a tough student who likes to stir up fights with other students. During the match, Emile hits Jerry in the temple, and Jerry faints. Goober then runs towards Jerry with concern and wakes him up. Jerry wakes up and blurts out, “Don’t disturb the universe, Goober, no matter what the posters say” (248). This shows that Jerry regrets “disturbing the universe” after the match. The phrase that Jerry says to Goober, stuns Goober, because throughout the book all Jerry wanted to do was rebel against Archie. Jerry ends up regretting his rebellion against the Vigils and Trinity School because he thinks that it was not worth getting hurt. Even though, Jerry’s rebellion turns out to hurt him in the end, what matters is that he still fought for his opinion on the chocolate sale. His rebellion is the spark of something new in the school. It helps Goober realize that he should have rebelled against Archie, earlier in the book when he did not want to do his assignment. Jerry’s rebellion also causes Archie’s authority to be challenged. Archie constantly has all the power in the book, but once Jerry rebels, he gains power, while Archie loses his...

Slumdog Millionaire Dialectical Journal

...Bailey to admit he was cheating, he stood up for himself by saying that wasn’t true. Today it is commonly thought that those that are quiet are easily manipulated. However, those that are quiet choose to speak when there is a need for something to be said. I think this shows that the world is too quick to judge people on who they appear to be, and not who they truly are. Sometimes it is the quietest of minds that speak the loudest. 4. “When he ran, he forget about his acne and his awkwardness and the shyness that paralyzed him when a girl looked his way. Even his thoughts became sharper, and things were simple and uncomplicated- he could solve math problems when he ran or memorize football play patterns” (51). (C) Roland Goubert, the Goober, reminds me of the way I think and feel while I run. Roland feels free and calm when he runs. I, being a perfectionist, feel stress most of the day. Fortunately for me, I have running to rely on when I’m stressed. Running makes me feel like I can accomplish anything and there is nothing to worry about. For Goubert and I, running is a way for us to express ourselves without having to overthink. 5. “Last year, as a junior, he had won first prize for selling the most chances in a school raffle-one hundred and twenty-five books, twelve tickets in each book-and received a special pin at the Awards Assembly at the end of the school year” (85). Chapter Summary: The Chocolate War

...It starts off with Brother Leon calling out the students’ names as they are agreeing to sell the chocolates for the school. The Goober isn’t feeling too well after he finished his assignment of taking apart all the desks in room 19. Everyone accepts except Jerry, who calmly says “no” to selling the chocolates, Brother Leon is in totally shock because no one has ever refused to sell the chocolates. Chapter 14 picks up a new character by the name of John Sulkey. John is a very good salesman and likes to make a list of who he is going to sell too and unlike everyone else he is happy to be selling 50 boxes instead of 25. Then it goes to the Goober who is tensely sitting in class as Leon calls out the students names waiting for everyone to read out how many they’ve sold and made. Everyone becomes really tense when it gets to Jerry because he refuses selling the chocolates. After completing the book i’ve come to the conclusion that this book was more on the struggle of everyone's life coming together to complete such a simple task of selling chocolates. This book also show how many people are different and have ways of doing thing...

Gullah Dialect

...There appears to be a few areas within this essay draft that either need to be enhanced to show the relation to a regional dialect or the core dialect and if no relation you may want to consider removing them so that they do not distract the reader away from your intended focus. The following section as written currently, does not enlighten the reader as to what part of the region uses this Gullah dialect. You may want to include that additional information so that the reader can visualize or relate to the region that uses this dialect. • “Gullah is the language of the descendants of the slaves that were brought to the South, and “goober” is the Gullah word for “peanut” and “tote” is the Gullah word for “carry”. Tree House On Mango Street Short Story

...Not everyone finds $10,000, but this story is about this lucky hippie that did! What are the odds! “Ugh! Not rain again!” Thought Lamar. He had been living roofless for about four days because these goobers fell from the sky onto his Treehouse, destroying it. He had been staying in the Treehouse since he was seventeen years old because, well let's not get into that again. He decided to travel to a local Subway with his pet snake, Jamal, and his pet squirrel, Chuck. They were both brown and annoying. It was a windy autumn day in Pottstown, which was where he lived. The winters were cold and icy while the summers were warm like the Sahara. He packed up his belongings, which included a pink pencil, and an extra pair of socks, and headed out of the woods. As he left the ruins of his Treehouse, he thought to himself, “Man, I wish I could take a trip out west!” He thought this because he has never been outside Pottstown....

The Influence Of Music In The Civil War

...experience and situation that the soldiers faced throughout the war. For example, there were many inspirational songs written that helped define the meaning of the war and the cause for which the troops were fighting. Some popular inspirational songs were “John Brown’s Body” or “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” which the Northerners would sing, and “Maryland, My Maryland” or “Dixie,” which the Southerners would sing. There were also sentimental songs, which the soldiers sang, about distant love, such as “Lorena,” “Aura Lee,” and “The Yellow Rose of Texas,” as well as songs that would touch on the loss of life during the war, such as “The Vacant Chair” and “Just Before the Battle, Mother.” Soldiers would march to the exuberant sound of “Eatin’ Goober Peas,” and vent their war-weariness with “Hard Times.” Survivors of battle would return home to the haunting notes of “When Johnny Comes Marching Home,” and they would bury their comrades to the soulful strains of the song “Taps,” which was written for those who lost their life in the Seven Days Battles. The American Civil War lasted for four years, until finally on June 2, 1865, the commander of Confederate forces west of the Mississippi, Confederate General Edmund Kirby Smith, signed the surrender terms offered by the Union negotiators, bringing a formal end to the bloodiest four years in U.S. history. The Confederacy was defeated at the total cost of the death of 620,000 Union and Confederate soldiers. ...

Such words make being male sound like a very important activity, as opposed to what it primarily consists of, namely, possessing a set of minor and frequently unreliable organs. But men tend to attach great significance to Manhood. This results in certain characteristically masculine, by which I mean stupid, behavioral patterns that can produce unfortunate results such as violent crime, war, spitting, and ice hockey. These things have given males a bad name. And the "Men's Movement," which is supposed to bring out the more positive aspects of Manliness, seems to be densely populated with loons and goobers. So I'm saying that there's another way to look at males: not as aggressive macho dominators; not as sensitive, liberated, hugging drummers; but as guys. And what, exactly, do I mean by "guys"? I don't know. I haven't thought that much about it. One of the major characteristics of guyhood is that we guys don't spend a lot of time pondering our deep innermost feelings. There is a serious...

Georgia

...Running head: GEORGIA Georgia- The Peach state American Government December 7, 2011 The United States constitution is built upon the concept of federalism- the distribution of powers between a central authority and its constituent units. Georgia uses the federalist theory by distributing powers from its state government to the county government and from the county to the city government. Georgia is a historical state; being one of the original thirteen colonies founded in 1733. In 2010, Georgia was said to be the 9th largest state in the US with 9.69 million residents (Georgia USA, 2011, para. 1). Georgia like every other state is quite unique in its origin, development, and agriculture. The idea for creating a new colony was to serve as a military buffer between the British in South Carolina and the Spanish in Florida (Summers, 2011, para. 3). Prior to 1732 there were many attempts at settling on the land south of the Savannah River. Sir Robert Montgomery of Scotland-one of the many but not the first- “had secured from the Proprietors of Carolina a tract of land between the Savannah and Altamaha Rivers to which he gave the grandiloquent name, ‘Margravate of Azilia’ ” (Saye, 1948, p.3). Margravate an eastern European term meaning leader of lineage; Azilia is a Mesolithic European culture (“Margravate of Azilia”, 2011, para.4). (“Margravate of Azilia”, 2011, para. 9)Montgomery envisioned the colony inhabitants as those indentured from poorer English classes. Unfortunately...

The Last Leaf

...A Clockwork Orange (UK Version) Anthony Burgess Introduction A Clockwork Orange I first published the novella A Clockwork Orange in 1962, which ought to be far enough in the past for it to be erased from the world's literary memory. It refuses to be erased, however, and for this the film version of the book made by Stanley Kubrick may be held chiefly responsible. I should myself be glad to disown it for various reasons, but this is not permitted. I receive mail from students who try to write theses about it or requests from Japanese dramaturges to turn It into a sort of Noh play. It seems likely to survive, while other works of mine that I value more bite the dust. This is not an unusual experience for an artist. Rachmaninoff used to groan because he was known mainly for a Prelude in C Sharp Minor which he wrote as a boy, while the works of his maturity never got into the programmes. Kids cut their pianistic teeth on a Minuet in G which Beethoven composed only so that he could detest it. I have to go on living with A Clockwork Orange, and this means I have a sort of authorial duty to it. I have a very special duty to it in the United States, and I had better now explain what this duty is. Let me put the situation baldly. A Clockwork Orange has never been published entire in America. The book I wrote is divided into three sections of seven chapters each. Take out your pocket calculator and you will find that these add up to a total of twenty-one chapters. 21 is the symbol...
