...The latest technology is causing controversy all over the world, the newest being the Google Glasses. The purpose of this is to show what the glasses are. There are parts of the world that are against the glasses, either by Google itself or the glasses. Then how Google has been at at the front of new technology. Even though people are just seeing the problems with privacy, it was there way before the glasses were even made. First the reader should know what the Glass looks like. According to Google, they have “adjustable nose pads and a frame that allows a one-size-fits-all offering and two extra nose pads are included. The display is said to have the appearance of a 25-inch HD screen viewed from eight feet away. As expected, image capture is a key feature, with 5MP stills and 720p video supported. Also integrated is 16GB of total flash memory, of which 12 GB is usable and synchronised with Google-supplied cloud storage.... The battery allows one day of typical use, but is reduced by power-hungry operations such as video capture.(Google)” If you wear regular prescription glasses, "‘The Glass design is modular, so you will be able to add frames and lenses that match your prescription,’ the Glass team said in a Google+ post. ‘We understand how important this is and we've been working hard on it.’(Albanesius)” Google+ is the social network work site within Google. “Google glasses that overlay the Internet on daily lives should hit the market in a little more than a year -- technology...

...of having the kind of control that this new technology has to offer is very exciting. The new developing technology known as Project Glass is now being developed by Google (Davis). What will be discussed is what is Project Glass, what can it do, where it will go, how it will look, when it might be finished? Project Glass will shape the way the future will be. Google is designing glasses, not just any glasses though. These glasses will have the same capabilities just about as an I-phone or Android. Either you wish to know the nearest café nearby you, want to go to the book section in a mall, attend a video call or set time for hang-out with friends with a message; it will handle all matters smartly and rightly in front of your eyes without tapping a single button - (Davis 1). Project Glass Stated by (Davis 2). It also works on artificial intelligence (AI) programming. Meaning you speak into it and the computer will do what you ask it to do or tell it. The glasses themselves will have thick lenses, a rough rim, and with a huge frame temple with a protective shield over it where I assume where all the components are being held at; possibly a little goofy but this is to be determined as the glasses are still in development. The project itself is extremely interesting, to have that kind of power in a pair of glasses that just sit on your head and all you have to do is say a command of what you want it to do; might I say this is a new term for being lazy. Driving made easier to...

Responding to clients, family members, or friends is easier and quicker with Glass, because its applications are in the form of “cards” and tasks are performed through voice commands. This eliminates the need to search for emails and messages like one would search for on a smartphone, tablet, or PC, and respond with one voice command while doing other activities. Glass’s ability to sync with Google calendar and Apple's iCal also make it convenient to view and schedule appointments and reminders throughout the day (Glass, 2014). Glass, 2014, in addition, through voice command, Glass provides navigation and traffic times for any destination, with street-by-street...

...SunglassesInformative Speech on the history, creation, and increasing popularity of sunglasses. Everyone who is anyone has once in their lifetime wore a pair of sunglasses over their eyes. Has anyone ever thought about how lens were first used to block sunrays, was it accidental or was it an idea? There are also many sunglasses companies from decades ago that have all changed the way we see sunglasses, also what and how we see out of them. There are many types o of sunglasses that aren’t directly available to the masses, one pair can range from $5 to $5,000. I personally enjoy wearing my sunglasses for many reasons and in this speech I will go into detail of the reasons why humans love sunglasses. During ancient times in Roman history there was an emperor named Nero. In these times they would hold events in stadiums as the emperors watched in skyline luxury seats. It is said that Nero is the first to ever have any use of lenses to protect his eyes from the glare of the sun. During events of Roman times he was known for using an emerald to view the stadium and prevent glare from the sun, emerald sunglasses. Nero reigned emperor from 54 to 68. Centuries would go by before another sunglasses discovery, the Chinese were the next in line to tamper with the idea however it wasn’t for blocking sun rays or protecting your eye sight. Chinese judges used to wear smoke-colored quartz lenses to shield their eyes from anyone in court, that way their expressions could never...

...Friar Roger Bacon discovered that letters could be seen better and larger when viewed through less than half a sphere of glass. Bacon's experiments confirmed the principle of the converging lens. Bacon recognized that this could assist weak eyes or the vision of aged persons. Early recorded evidence demonstrates that glasses first appeared in Pisa, Italy about the year 1286. Each crude lens or crystal was surrounded by a frame and given a handle. They were worn on the face like glasses you see today but held in front of the eyes while reading. Essentially someone took two existing mounted stones and connected them with a rivet. Benjamin Franklin in the 1780's developed the bifocal. Later he wrote, "I therefore had formerly two pairs of spectacles, which I shifted occasionally, as in traveling I sometimes read, and often wanted to regard the prospects. Finding this change troublesome, and not always sufficiently ready, I had the glasses cut and a half of each kind associated in the same circle. By this means, as I wear my own spectacles constantly, I have only to move my eyes up or down, as I want to see distinctly far or near, the proper glasses being always ready." Evidently the idea of bifocals had already been experimented with in London as early as 1760 though never used extensively....

The ad shows the lady favoring the latter. The cauliflower ad follows from a series of messages around poor eyesight leading to poor performance and poor relationships which is an insight resulting from vision 2020 report of the World Health Organization. We have been tracking the social messages of FB and Twitter netizens. We are happy that, in general, most netizens appreciate the creativity, and they understand that the message has no intent of racism. We are also most thankful to those who help to objectively explain or elaborate the context of the advertisement.” Executive Optical stated. This case study intends to examine the advertisement of Executive Optical (EO) that features a dark-skinned man wearing a pair of eyeglasses, smiling as he embraces a young beautiful lady, while a light-skinned man, not wearing eyeglasses, looked surprised with a statement “Don’t be a loser. Have your eyes checked.” That is if it, indeed, hilarious and insulted some Filipino people, as complained by concerned netizens. ...Eyes By PHRED DVORAK January 29, 2007; Page B4 TOKYO -- Susumu Sato doesn't need glasses to see properly. But he owns 60 pairs and wears glasses daily. Mr. Sato is head of advertising and investor relations at Japanese eyeglasses retailer Meganesuper Co., which requires employees to wear glasses at work. "I change them every day," says the 50-year-old, sporting a pair of black-and-white frames that clash with his navy-blue striped suit. The everyone-wears-glasses policy at Meganesuper (literally, "Eyeglasses Supermarket") is an extreme solution to a universal management problem: How to get a handle on customers' needs. Many companies poll their clientele with surveys and focus groups. Others deploy researchers to study consumer behavior. By videotaping consumers, General Motors Corp. recently found a hitch in the controls for DVD players in its vans. A few, like Meganesuper, ask employees to literally see through the eyes of a customer. At Griffin Hospital in Derby, Conn., all new employees -- from computer programmers to nurses -attend a two-day retreat where they spoon-feed each other and perform other exercises designed to mimic being a patient. GM asks senior managers to drive and evaluate the company's vehicles. In 2001, Procter & Gamble Co. managers preparing for the launch of a premium line of Pampers diapers held meetings in a room designed like an oversize nursery, donning blurry glasses and sitting on huge chairs in an attempt to simulate the experience of babies. "If...

...GLASSES AND YOUR EYES It doesn't matter if you need to them or wear them just for fun - they are a great fashion accessory. Quality is important though. And from an image aspect glasses are as important as your make-up and hairdo. Glasses are very fashionable. Not just on the ski slopes or the beach but anywhere now that the Couturiers (notably Claude Montana, Karl Lagerfeld and Jean-Paul Gaultier) have sent their top fashion models down the catwalk with spectacles. When selecting glasses ensure that the shape of the frame suits your face. It can improve facial features that are less than perfect. Some make-up hints for wearers of glasses: • If you are short-sighted, the lenses will make your eyes look smaller: use light colours and avoid strong kohl lines. • If you are long-sighted, the lenses will enlarge your eyes, a magnifying glass effect: use dark colours and kohl outlines to make the eye look smaller. Apply your eye shadow colours a little more strongly as the lenses will absorb some of the intensity. This applies particularly to people who wear tinted glasses. Remember always use proper eye make-up remover, and be very gentle when you apply it and when you wipe it off. If you find mascara difficult to wear but need to intensify the lashes - have the lashes tinted. LOOKING AFTER YOUR EYES • Use sunglasses to block glare from sun, sand, sea and snow. Not only do they protect the eye itself, but stop you from squinting...

...During a routine market survey of college students—the target group for Bausch and Lomb (B&L) contact lenses—a team from FCB Ulka, the company’s creative agency made a significant discovery. It found that when youngsters play dumb charades, the person who is called to gesture, involuntarily puts aside his glasses (if he’s wearing one), so his mates can correctly read his expressions. Surprisingly, for a country of 17.37 million in need of vision correction, the contact lens penetration is dismally low—at 5%, that is about 0.87 million users, representing a market of Rs 100-120 crore, although growing at 20% year-on-year. This compares poorly with contact lens penetration in, say, China (16%), Thailand (13%) and Malaysia (25%). The total vision care market in India is valued at Rs 1,800-Rs 2,000 crore (95% unorganised and growing at 25% per annum), of which the contact lens market accounts for only Rs 100-120 crore. The key players are B&L, Johnson & Johnson brand (although they only operate in the premium category, that is, daily, fortnightly and monthly modality disposable lenses, priced in the range of Rs 1,400-Rs 30,000 per annum for the daily disposable lenses) and Ciba Vision (specialist in coloured lenses). The three players command 60%, 30% and 10% share respectively in the urban market, according to market estimates. The unorganised market is small (Rs 30 crore) and not a cause for worry. The Y-o-Y growth for the organised sector is 20%, although in the last couple...

...Sheppard, Tawana Dr. Rowe English 1301 M-TH 2:30 P.M. Formal Essay #2 21 June 2012 Beauty In the selection, “Beauty: When the Other Dance is the Self” I like to compare this essay to myself. Like Walker, “It was great fun being cute. But then, one day it ended.” (par 6) When I was born I was the cutest child my mother had. Everyone in the neighbor hood wanted to hold or carry me. I had another sibling but he was never treated like I was. I had the best cloths and I was chosen to go everywhere which made me think that I knew everything. As a child I was very confident and wanted to learn everything. I learned all my Easter speeches no matter the size and did everything that I was big enough to do. As I got older everything changed. I wasn’t eight when my life changed, I was seven. I was all legs and skin, with no fat and was the tallest seven year old around. My everyday activities were wrestling in the mud with my little brother and riding bikes, making me the biggest tom boy in the neighbor hood. I was attending school in fall and wasn’t so happy about it either. I didn’t have long silky smooth hair like the other girls but short rough hair that couldn’t even be combed in a pony tail and my cloths didn’t make it even better. Since I was so tall and lanky, I had to dress like the tomboy I was. My hair and cloths were things that I could handle because I could grow hair or wear a weave and buy new cloths, but one thing that I absolutely couldn’t change was my face....

...assistant at the University of California, Los Angeles from injuries obtained whilst working on a highly flammable chemical [Trager. R 2009]-. The university allowed researchers to continue their research during their break. Whilst using a syringe to withdraw some reagent, she accidently pulled the plunger all the way out which lead to allowing air to enter and cased a flash fire. The university was fined as the California Division of Occupation Safety and health concluded that there were significant weaknesses in the school’s hazardous chemical training, workplace safety procedures and laboratory. The university believes that the researcher was wearing nitrile gloves, normal glasses instead of goggles and a synthetic sweater without a lab coat. Firstly the researcher was not wearing correct PPE. Standard eye glasses do not offer sufficient eye protection as goggles do. She chose to not wear a lab coat which means that the fire caused second and third degree burns over 40% of her body. This damage could have been decreased if she had a lab coat as the flame would’ve destroyed the lab coat before her. Secondly, she was not trained on using equipment and maybe did not recognise the COSHH hazard symbol that was probably written on the bottle. COSHH is the law that requires employers to control substances that are hazardous to health. This could have been avoided if she was properly trained on how to identify the correct hazard symbol and how to use them safely. In January 2010, a graduate...
