It’s quite simple why I want to obtain my MBA from Oral Roberts University. Every time I drove passed the praying hands as a young kid growing up in Tulsa, I thought that it would be so cool to go to a college where you can openly pray. This, of course, is partially true in that being the only reason, but I do believe that as I progress through my career, I will be able to use what I learned from the ORU MBA program to lead and set an example for Christ while leading people at a secular company. I believe ORU can help achieve my career goals in three main areas of life; to better learn how to make an impact in the secular business world while allowing the Holy Spirit to ultimately lead, learning how to be a servant leader, and finally, to better understand how to further allow God to take control of my career path.

First, I have a burning desire to lead people. Not just for the sake of being a manager, but I want to truly impact people’s lives. I believe there is so much to be learned with regards to how to be a significant impact in a secular company while ultimately allowing the Holy Spirit to guide. ORU has the same desire to teach their students how to go about this in our careers as well. We are mutually aligned in this area, which is why I want to pursue the MBA program at ORU. This is very special for my life as I continually strive to be more aware of the Holy Spirit in my day-to-day walk as a husband and as a father.

Second, learning how to be a servant leader is an area that I struggle with. I am not opposed at all to helping people when they need help, but seeking out individuals that need our help and guidance is something that I lose sight of in my “busy” day.
