...Course Introduction—Religion IV (Acts) We will study the Book of the Acts of the Apostles chronologically. Many theological topics will present themselves along the way as we see the growth of the early Christian church as recorded under inspiration by Luke. We will conduct the course in a seminar format, with many topics assigned for pre-reading and research, with learning shared with the class on a daily basis. There will also be a major topic assigned (“term paper”) for research and presentation to the class. Classroom Expectations 1. Speak and listen with a generous spirit. 2. Bring a physical, printed, Bible or have a Bible app loaded and ready on your chromebook.. Load up the “Daily Questions” from your “classroom folder”. 3. Be prepared to share your insight each day into the topic shared in “The Look Ahead” section in the previous day’s “Daily Questions”. Classroom Procedures 1. Nearly every day, there will be some question that required “presearch” for the section of Acts being considered that day. 2. Nearly every day, the “Daily Questions” form should be considered, and completed with answers from yourself and the class reflected there. 3. Most often, we will study a section of Acts, with students seeking answers to questions presented by the teacher, and with students seeking life-related applications of the answers found. Grading This course is in development and in “rough form” as far as grading procedures are...

...University “Infant Baptism” A research paper submitted to Professor Seth Johnson In Partial Fulfillment of the requirements For THEO 350-D07 Liberty University Online By Jeffrey Robinson L21932989 Lynchburg, Virginia April 24, 2012 I did not come to the saving knowledge of the Lord until I was twenty-four years old. By this time I had two small children that were four years old and two months old. My wife was born and raised in the church. She wanted to get the children baptized. I did not know what that meant. So being the inquisitive new covert that I was, I went to the pastor and asked what the meaning of the infant baptism was. He explained that it was just an outward sign that I was going to raise my children in the church and the ways of Christ. I thought that was a great idea. Until this class, I did not know that there was any other reason than the one explained to me by my pastor nineteen years ago. The topic just never came up. Since I believe that this is the true reason I had my children baptized, this paper will try to argue that infant baptism is not for salvation purposes. I believe in true faith. I also believe that baptism can be an empty ritual. Through research and prayer, God has been teaching me about the church and the communal nature of faith. I have learned that a person’s view of the meaning of the sacraments, the Church, covenant theology, individualism, and God’s grace have a great deal to do with the different...

...Canadians, meanwhile, have been slow to catch on (some Forfaiters think it is because they are suspicious of its simplicity coupled with a lack of complex documentation). For people who are not using the technique, below is a concise introduction to Forfaiting using questions those new to the technique would typically ask. What is Forfaiting? Forfaiting is the purchase of a series of credit instruments such as drafts drawn under time letters of credit, bills of exchange, promissory notes, or other freely negotiable instruments on a "nonrecourse" basis (non-recourse means that there is no comeback on the exporter if the importer does not pay). The Forfaiter deducts interest (in the form of a discount), at an agreed rate for the full credit period covered by the notes. The debt instruments are drawn by the exporter (seller), accepted by the importer (buyer), and will bear an aval, or unconditional guarantee. The guarantee will normally be issued by the importer's bank, but some strong corporates can be accepted without a bank guarantee. In exchange for the payment, the Forfaiter then takes over responsibility for claiming the debt from the importer. The Forfaiter either holds the notes until full maturity (as an investment), or sells them to another investor on a non-recourse basis. The holder of the notes than presents each receivable to the bank at which they are payable, as they fall due. When should Forfait be used? Forfaiting is used for international trade transactions. Normally...

...factory farming more often than not incorporate abusive treatment to the animals. Factory Farming is an inhumane way of producing meat and dairy products due to its common practices of confined living conditions, wide usage of antibiotics and genetic engineering, and slaughterhouse practices. One of the most common forms of animal cruelty in factory farms is the overcrowded and confined living areas of the animals. Chickens are the most confined animal in Factory Farming with up to 120,000 birds on one farm. (Madhani, 2015). Both egg-laying hens and fryer chickens are housed in “battery cages”. Battery cages hold between five and ten hens with each hen allotted between 67 - 76 sq. inches (less than the size of a standard sheet of letter paper). Being confined to such a small area creates multiple physical and mental problems for the chickens. Among the more common noted problems is the inability to spread their wings, standing up, nesting, perching, and dust bathing. (“The Humane Society of the United States", n.d.”). Debi Zimmermann (Ph.D., Veterinarian) commented on chicken living conditions at the Canadian based egg supplying Burnbrae Farms, “With 7–10 hens squeezed into each small barren cage there...

He served as president of the United States from 1923 to 1929 as a staunch pro business Republican and was the 30th president of the United States of America. In this research paper we will be taking a look at his early life and path to the presidency, his accomplishments, events, legacy, and life during his presidency and his Administrative...

...Finding What Works RES/351 November 24, 2014 Mike Hamm Finding What Works Quantitative versus qualitative research. Both methods hold an important place in the process of asking, hypothesizing, researching, gathering compiling and presenting the findings of any marketing process. The most effective method depends on the desired results. If the research being conducted is for the purposes of reporting the quantity, measurement, role or ability of a product, then quantitative research is required. If the researcher is seeking results that describe a given process can improve relationships, work ethic, and peace of mind or cohesiveness within a given circumstance, qualitative research would be the most appropriate. Research is an important aspect of many parts of life. While prayer is not a business or a job, it is a call that serves a purpose and is a large part of my current and future work ventures. Gathering data on the power of prayer, let alone proving what that gathered data means, is an improbable and highly scrutinized practice. When researching the present findings and preparing this paper, I found myself in quite a conundrum of faith and understanding. That being stated, according to Baesler and Ladd 2009, several studies have been conducted, indicating that those experiencing crises have shown an improvement in their over-all wellbeing when participating in prayer centered activities. The struggle however is, how does one record a qualitative record...

Although Paganini is well known for his virtuosic caprices on the violin, paganini also played the guitar as a major cornerstone of his musical achievement, as well as the mandolin, which he learned from his father. Although one would expect Paganini to have a musical upbringing, his father was actually a trader who, due to the lack of success in his trading career, supplemented the family’s income with mandolin playing on the streets of Genoa. Thus, Paganini’s early life found him searching for violin lessons from local violin teachers since his...

...Running head: CHALLENGES AND STRATEGIES OF A WORKING STUDENT Challenges and Strategies of a Working Student Brooklyn N. Williams Walden University June 13, 2015 There have been many years since the last time I was in school to further my education, and since then, I was certain that I would never enroll again. After the grace period when I withdrew from the latest school, I felt that trying to further my education was not beneficial to my life. I know there are benefits to education yourself in today’s workforce, but I was reluctant to continue in that direction for several reasons. I was enormously discouraged after I obtained my Bachelor’s in 2008 and I did not think that more education could help me in the future. Even though I have faced my fears by continuing my education, I face even more as I go forth, but I hope to face those fears logically and intelligently. Since I had become accustomed to a life free of writing research papers and anxious to see final grades at the end of each semester, my enrolling here at Walden University was exciting, yet intimidating. The last time that I was a student was in 2011 and I could not help but feel that I could possibly be making a mistake. My biggest fear is that once again, I would receive a degree and that it would be in vain. For years after I receive my Bachelor’s, I did not have any professional work experience. With that, I thought not only about finding substantial employment, but the repayment of...

Raleigh, N.C.: Alex Catalogue) Biblical/Christian worldview How did life begin? Many have raised this question and different responses over time have been set forth to this question. Our discussion is a biblical answer, Genesis 1.1-31 states God created everything, the Universe, and all life on earth. Naturalism states that this has always been and over time, what observed today is the result, We as Christians see this different, God created all in ex nihilo, not do to random events. ...Valerie Hernandez 12/5/14 Prof. Scott Brown Research Paper The Hollywood entertainment industry has typically treated as well as portrayed homosexuals as subject of negative stereotypes. When Gay representation was introduced to popular culture, the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community was oppressed from the start. Later, film and television attempted to create well-rounded homosexual characters but focused in depicting gay stereotypes and how they shaped the public's impression of the gay community. These stereotypes created a non-threatening sissy gay and a warrior lesbian. Throughout history, heterosexual men are seen to be strong and proud of their masculinity and homosexuals have been perceived as lacking masculinity and feminine. Gay characters started to emerge in the 1990’s in both television and movies. Ellen DeGeneres and her character Ellen Morgan coming out under much scrutiny on the TV show ‘Ellen,’ which eventually led to her own talk show. The movie The Birdcage, with Robin Williams was about a gay cabaret owner and his drag queen companion. Gays and lesbians have been around for a long time, especially in Hollywood, but more people started to come out in the 90’s. With the popularity of shows like Will and Grace, which feature leading gay characters, as well as the show Friends, Ross Gellar’s lesbian ex-wife Carol, marries her partner and happily co-parents her son with Ross. Over a period of time we are slowly seeing gay, lesbian, and bi-sexual...
