Graduation Day A lengthy four years of high school really set the stage for a great graduation. Graduating from high school became the single most important event in my life so far. Being a part of Wake Forest-Rolesville’s 2011 graduating class was a special moment. This moment is very significant to me because it was a long term goal that I had set out to accomplish, and I succeeded in doing so. Of course I felt accomplished after graduating high school, but I also realized many new doors would open for me. As a high school graduate I became eligible for higher education. Being able to attend college is essential for trying to achieve my life goals. Graduating from high school meant that I was just one step closer to achieving these life goals.

A Painful Strand
The death of my grandfather played a major role in my growth as a young man. His death did more than just show me that his time was up. I recall this experience being one of my most difficult. This was my first time ever witnessing death, seeing my father cry, and attending a funeral. Watching my grandfather pass away and my father cry were both very painful experiences. I had never planned nor prepared myself for anything like that. The pain and sadness that came along, transformed me into a cold hearted person. Taking on this new change required me to grow up much faster than planned. The growth took place because, I lost interest in many of the activities and trends a teenager might find attention-grabbing. I stopped chasing girls and going to Friday night football games, and started spending my time alone, questioning my existence. The time I spent alone did not hinder who I was as person, but instead, that time helped mold me into the young man that I am
