...You Are an Entrepreneur! ACC 557 Abstract Being a full time working mom with a house, husband and grad school to attend to, it does not give me a great deal of free time to pursue my lifetime goal of opening up my own day care center. Today, I have decided to turn that goal into a business finally with the support of my friends and family. However, I do need to obtain start-up capital from a lender or from an investor. My goal is to properly convince the lender or investor that opening up my own daycare center is more than just a dream and that I am very passionate about opening up this business and making it a very profitable one. I feel that I have a firm grasp of how to properly run a daycare center, the accounting practices that impact a daycare center as well as the controls needed to safeguard assets to ensure that we stay in compliance and adhere to all regulations set forth. My plan is to start this business inside my home with the name of “Babies & Beyond” located in Somerset, New Jersey, see how well I do, and then perhaps look to expand and build a complete center one day. You are an Entrepreneur! 1. Describe the type of business you have created including: A daycare center is a place for parents to drop their children off with ease and comfort knowing that their money is going to good use to keep their children safe while also providing the children with a curriculum for learning. Daycare programs provide...

...Assignment 5 Name: (Your Name) For Dr. Larry Byrd HRM533 Date: (Today’s date) (Title) Innovations of Employee Benefits The succeeding paragraphs will explain how innovations in employee benefits can improve the overall competitive compensation strategy of the organization. The first way is offer onsite day care facilities. The study suggests that on-site daycare is not only affordable; it is in many cases profitable. Further, the study found that a majority of workers would be willing to contribute to the cost of employer-sponsored daycare whether or not they used the benefit. "There are several kinds of employers who typically have on-site childcare, such as high-tech and healthcare industries, and others who need 24-hour workers, such as airline reservation companies," notes Connelly. "The few studies that have been done on on-site childcare focused on those companies with highly educated workforces. We were particularly interested in another group of companies - those who weren't offering daycare as part of a whole package of family-friendly benefits or because of a corporate philosophy, but rather because they had done an economic analysis of their particular set of workers and had decided that on-site childcare would be economically beneficial to their company." The second way is pet-friendly offices. Not all companies are created equal when it comes to the acceptance of dogs in the workplace. Some readily welcome your best friend while others...

...Vaughan Cohen Musical Copyright Infringement October 23, 2012 Prof. Hichborn Dillinger Four's "Doublewhiskeycokenoice” vs. Green Day’s “American Idiot” On September 21st, 2004, Green Day released their album “American Idiot,” a work that many believed to the catalyst for their comeback in the early 2000s. The album, released by Reprise Records and produced by their longtime partner Rob Cavallo, achieved huge success worldwide, charting in 27 countries and topping at number one in 19 of them, including the United States and the United Kingdom. American Idiot has sold over 14 million copies worldwide, over 6 million copies of which were in the United States alone, including 267,000 in its opening week (Gunderson, 2008). The album went on to be such a huge success, that in 2010 a Broadway musical was created based on the album, creatively entitled, “American Idiot; The Musical.” Five of the singles on this smash-hit album reached Platinum certification by the RIAA, possibly the most popular being the song entitled “American Idiot.” Among an array of other accolades, “American Idiot” was nominated for four Grammy Awards and was a number one on the charts for an impressive thirteen weeks, and in turn, no doubt brought a huge amount of financial success to the writers and composers of the composition. According to The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), there are three original writers of this composition, being Billy Joe Armstrong (singer), Mike...

...Overview Child care feasibility studies provide information critical to evaluating the potential of a new child care center, based on a complete review of the market dynamics, services, customers, competition, and pricing. This information can be used to determine if a child care center is feasible, and if so, what type of center to build, services to offer, and pricing levels. Since no two child care centers are the same, Perspectives Consulting Group, Inc. focuses on identifying and providing relevant information for each center using a customized research process. Our research process includes telephone interviews, contacting various city and state agencies, and researching the child care industry as a whole. Once the information is obtained, Perspectives Consulting Group, Inc. analyzes the information and provides direction for making effective and efficient decisions. Child Care Feasibility Studies Although each child care center under consideration is unique, generally, child care feasibility studies profile five areas: • Market Dynamics - General information on the child care market • Services - What type of child care services are being sought out • Customers - Who currently purchases child care services • Competition - Who provides the current child care services offered • Pricing - What pricing levels are there for child care services Often, the most productive information is found by talking directly to customers and competitors in the market. Customized...

...WHAT IS THE BEST WAY to drive innovative work inside organizations? Important clues hide in the stories of world-renowned creators. ItturnS out that ordinary scientists, marketers, programmers, and other unsung knowledge workers, whose jobs require creative productivity every day, have more in common with famous innovators than most managers realize. The workday events that ignite their emotions, fuel their motivation, and trigger their perceptions are fundamentally the same. The Double Helix, James Watson's 1968 memoir about discovering the structure of DNA, describes the roller coaster of emotions he and Francis Crick experienced through the progress and setbacks of the work that eventually earned them the Nobel Prize. After the excitement of their first attempt to build a DNA model, Watson and Crick noticed some serious flaws. According to Watson, "Our first minutes with the models…were not joyous." Later that evening, "a shape began to emerge which brought back our spirits." But when they showed their "breakthrough" to colleagues, they found that their model would not work. Dark days of doubt and ebbing motivation followed. When the duo finally had their bona fide breakthrough, and their colleagues found no fault with it, Watson wrote, "My morale skyrocketed, for I suspected that we now had the answer to the riddle." Watson and Crick were so driven by this success that they practically lived in the lab, trying to complete the work. Throughout these episodes, Watson and...

...Harold Ramis’s film, “Groundhog Day” and Franz Kafka’s story, “The Metamorphosis”, both main characters are faced with a life-changing event because of the way they live their lives. In Groundhog Day the main character Phil is an arrogant, sarcastic weatherman absorbed in his own discomforts, without hope, and cut off from other people. He is forced to relive the same day, groundhogs day, over and over again. In “The Metamorphosis the main character is Gregor Samsa, a man who spends his time working to pay off a debt for his father. Gregor wakes up to find that he has turned into a beetle. Throughout these two works the main characters try to go back to living their life as before not realizing that this is their second chance at life to make things right. Phil manages to do so only by breaking through and becoming a person of intimacy, creativity and compassion which sets him free from his exile of living in the same day over and over again. As for Gregor, going from someone everyone depends on to something no one wants to care for, he doesn’t get a chance to have everything go back to normal. He dies and his family, for once, is relieved. Groundhog Day lets us experience what it would be like to make a breakthrough like this in our own lives. The movie shows us a character that is like the worst in ourselves. Like us, he finds himself in an inexplicable situation, something like fate. But, unlike us, he gets the luxury of being stuck in the same day until he gets it right. Where...

...I knew I was not the only one who was cheated by him. I could not believe that the person I loved so much was a cheater. He cheated many innocent girls like me. “Dude, do not believe him. I think you’re in love with the wrong person. He has many other girlfriends besides you”, said my best friend Lara. But, I did not really bother about her advice because I was so madly in love with him at the age of seventeen. I heard people say love is blind. But, my love was blind, deaf and brainless too. It is popular belief that it is great to be young. My parents keep reminding me that school days are the best time of my life. They urged me to enjoy what they describe as my ‘carefree’ days. I could think of several reasons why people think this is the best time of our lives. To start with, I had a lot of friends in school. It was hard to be lonely when we were surrounded by so many people. Not only that, at the same time I was having a boyfriend who was three years elder than me. Actually, I was not really interested in love before this. But, I do not know when I stepped into form five I felt I should have a boyfriend because all my friends had their own one. Besides that, having a boyfriend was a trend for teenagers like me. I am a girl from a middle class family. My father is a lorry driver. While my mother is a homemaker. I was the hope for my family since I was the eldest girl in my family. I just was a moderate student in my school. I did pretty well in my studies. The school compound...

...Stewart Deborah Tillis June 24, 2013 At my work place we’ve notice that the employees were calling in and missing a lot of work come the spring and summer months we couldn’t figure out what the problem was. So HR decided to take a survey to see what the problem was. Most of the employees were excited to let us know what was going on and more than half of the employees said they was having a hard time with a babysitter and wanted to a three day weekend to spend more time with their families. The company decided to have a daycare center here at work so the employees could drop their kid off and didn’t have to worry about a babysitter. Then company realized it would be cheaper to hire minimum wage help to babysit than it was to have the employees missing all the time. The other half of the employees that wanted a longer weekend the company opted for them to work four ten hour shifts that way they would have a three day weekend every week, we allow the employees to pick what time they would want to start time between 5:30 and 7:30 they would just have to work their ten hours then go home. Made it real convenient when the employees took advantage of the babysitting then that way they wasn’t away from their child or children for long periods. Our turnaround of employees coming to work has been a complete success. We also try to have more lunches and incentives for the employees to be here at work. The feedback on these...

...The decision on whether to choose a child-care center, family day-care home, or in your own home with a nanny can be a stressful decision. Nonparental care has been a topic of debate that has been around for years. The debate can come from how the child is effected, socially, cognitively, psychological and emotionally, will there be a positive impact or will there be a negative impact on the child's life. There are three different types of childcare. Child-Care center, Family Day-Care Homes, and In-Home care takers which is more commonly known as a nanny. The home may be the child's own home, a relative's (grandparent, aunt, etc.)home, or the home of an unrelated person such as a babysitter or nanny. Home care can include the simultaneous care of many children from many families. Home care is referred to as family date care even though the family may not be the child's own family. A home child care center features one care provider who is always with your child. She might have an assistant, but for the most part the provider is the same day after day. This builds a routine for your child, making the day care process easier on everyone. In a center, the providers in a particular room change frequently, which can lead to inconsistency in the routine. A home child care environment is more consistent because one person handles the situations every day (Grey, 2010). In 1998, the National Association for Family Day Care began a program for voluntary accreditation of family child-care...
