And, let’s not forget the Raiders’ baseball team who finished their best season ever with a 16-1 record. Hitting the lottery for $365 million, bump into Oprah or even your boyfriend may propose to you. Not in this case….this was the surprise that no one can ever seem to grasp. Coming up on graduation day and all the seniors were really excited. Mariah and her friends were all casual for their cap and gown pictures. The night before picture day, Mariah did not know how to style her hair, whether she wanted to wear heels or flip flops or what accessories to put on. Finally she decided to wear her silk, smooth, white dress with her white high heels, white pearls and she let her mother hot curl her micros, which hung down her shoulders. She was beautiful. Mariah walked in the school building she saw a massive herd of red and white heading towards the auditorium. Rodney, Mariah’s best friend and also childhood boyfriend, walked up to her smiling with the assurance that he was finally getting out of school. Mariah snapped a shot of him with her digital camera. ...When coaches first begin, many times, there’s a tendency to try to prove that “you belong.” and the first inclination is to only equate success with positive race results. Many times, we seem to go overboard with being concerned with our own affirmation that we know what we’re doing. Basically, we let our ego rule the way our brains set up our priority list. If we lose, instead of engaging in a self-analysis of what we, as the coach, might have done wrong and hopefully correcting our mistake, we many times point the blame elsewhere, usually in the direction of the kids on our team. When the gun goes off during one of your own races, you automatically go into competition mode.
