 Øvrige tillægsord på to eller flere stavelser gradbøjes som regel med more og most: honest more honest most honest excellent more excellent most excellent  Enkelte tillægsord gradbøjes uregelmæssigt, som fx: good better best bad (dårlig) worse (værre) worst (værst) Forstærkning af tillægsord: meget høj - meget højere - den allerhøjeste: very tall - much taller - the very tallest BIORD (adverbier) Biord fortæller ofte noget om måde, grad, tid eller sted, fx: He walked slowly (måde). Essay on Novels

...Essay on Novel Published by admin at 12:41 pm under Sample Essays Tim Winton’s novel, ‘That eye, the sky’ is a powerful exploration of such themes as loneliness, isolation and maturity within the context of Australian family life and landscape. These themes, which come to represent serious and grave difficulties for the protagonists, are explored somewhat differently across the mediums of film and text. John Ruane’s cinematic interpretation of Tim Winton’s text provides a useful and constructive alternative perspective of these thematic difficulties. The Australian Family depicted in ‘That eye, the sky’ is the quintessential Australian country family. The depiction of the Flack family in the novel describes the stereotypical image of the Australian family. More…They live in a country cottage with chickens in the yard, holes in the asbestos wall sheeting and Sam Flack, the head of this house, drives a Ute. This description places the family in a stereotypical Australian place. The narrator in the novel, Ort, provides the reader with an insight into life as a member of the Flack family. For example, the reader can understand what Ort is thinking, when he… This example shows us the thought process that Ort goes through and the reader views his perspective of his family. In the film, the casting of Jamie Croft as Ort is believable and appears as one would imagine. Not only is the image of Ort believable but also how and what he thinks provides the viewer with a greater insight...

Polysemy

...A separate grammatical form can vary in meaning in different contexts of its use like words that are used as signs of many things/ In case of grammatical polysemy we observe various structural meanings inherent in the given form, one of them being invariable, i.e. can be found in any context of its use. Contextual variation of component grammatical meanings as potentially implicit in grammatical form must be distinguished from so-called syncretism, i. e. plurality of the signi¬fied. e.g. A simple verb-form may have as al¬ways inseparably present in it, the grammemes of mood, time, person, number he works, she works; similarly: she is, she was, etc. The study of potential polysemy in grammar must reason¬ably be associated with the problem of functional transposi¬tions of grammatical forms leading to variation in their meaning in different contexts, linguistic or situational. Exa¬mine, for instance, the multiple semantic essence of the Present tense (Continuous Aspect) in Modern English which may express: 1. An action going on at the moment of speaking You are behaving like a child. 2. Activities, properties She is playing the piano well. 3. Repeated processes of increasing duration She is always grumbling. 4. An action anticipated or plan¬ned in the future We are seeing him tonight. 5. Order or command You are not going in there! (= Don't go in there!) 2. Homonymy Polysemy leads to homonymy. In case of homonymy the invariable structural...

...Shisheng Huang Dr. Logan English 300 online 25 June 2015 All We Need Is a Push Writing has never been an easy subject for me. Lt alone the fact that English was not my first language. Back in my old country, even writing in the language that I was growing up with was no so easy for me either. At the younger age, I could never understand, why would people take a simple idea and expand it into hundreds of or even thousands of word. To the younger me, it was just like telling a same idea to someone over and over again. As I grew older, now that I am looking back, I realize I was just being lazy. Like I was to everything else in my life: always try to find a simpler and faster solution to a problem. If there was anything my high school English teacher has taught me that I would remember for life, that is, just like pretty much everything else in life. To be able to write a good piece of paper, it will require a lot of hard work. Unlike the teachers from my old high school, my English teacher of the high school I was graduated from, Mr. Roger has a lot more experience dealing with ESL student. Because of the district that our school was in. There are a ton of students that came from many different country around the world, which gave our school more change to get more experience on dealing with different level student. Not only Mr. Roger’s balded head and face that full of beard draw student attention to him, but the way he teach class also get our attention easily. He always...

...Running head: CONTAINER TERMINAL EFFICIENCY Container Terminal Efficiency Joshua K. Hodgin American Military University CONTAINER TERMINAL EFFICIENCY With a projected 186% [ (The Agile Port Efficient Marine Terminal) ] increase of containers moved through ports by 2025, terminals are forced to relook at how efficient cargo is being handled. Even though there are required methods by law, container terminals can be more efficient by more effective inspection processes and container handling improvements. Using intermodal transportation practices, the terminals very effectively transfer cargo between three different modes of transportation; ship, train, truck. The question now what improvements are being made to make processes more efficient and effective while staying in line with current laws? We will explore different innovations of terminal processes, future designs of transportation equipment and enhanced cargo inspection processes. Saint Cupcake

...Business Case Study Saint Cupcake Entrepreneurship Near the heart of the thriving ‘Pearl District’ in downtown Portland sits a completely unassuming retail bakery. Unassuming, that is, until one smells the delicious baking scents in the air and sees the sign ‘Saint Cupcake,’ and at once, visitors are reverted back to days of childhood when cupcakes were the biggest thing since the invention of bicycles. Saint Cupcake has had great success as a specialized bakery since they opened in November, 2005. The bakery sees a growing number of walk-in customers every day and has a thriving catering business for weddings and events. The business has been so successful that the married owners, Jami and Matthew Curl, want to expand their operation to other parts of the city where they can reach an even bigger audience for cupcake lovers. Company Background When Jami Curl was 27, she was working as a marketing specialist for the state bar association and began a master’s degree program at the local state university. In her free time, she also started a one-woman baking operation making pies, cakes, and cupcakes. Jami had fond memories of baking with her mother and grandmother and had many great recipes she used that were learned from those days baking at grandma’s house. Just before Jami turned 30, she and her husband, Matt, decided that they wanted to go into business themselves and open a bakery. By raising money from family and taking out a home equity loan, Jami and Matt gathered...

Developing a Log Based Motivation Measuring Tool

...Developing a Log-based Motivation Measuring Tool Arnon Hershkovitz and Rafi Nachmias1 {arnonher, nachmias}@post.tau.ac.il 1 Knowledge Technology Lab, School of Education, Tel Aviv University, Israel Abstract. The purpose of this study is to develop a conceptual framework and a tool for measuring motivation of online learners. The study was carried out in three phases, the first of which was the construction of a framework, based on an extensive literature review. Phase two consisted of identifying variables computable from log file data, associate with the framework and compatible with previous empirical research. For this purpose, an empirical study was designed and a specific learning environment focusing on vocabulary for adults was chosen. Log files of a large population (N=2,162) were collected and variables were identified using Learnograms, a visual representation of learning variables over time. This phase resulted in seven explicitly defined variables, along with a mechanism to calculate them from the raw log files. The third phase included preprocessing of the dataset (reducing it to 674 cases) and application of hierarchical clustering of the variables. This phase resulted in three clusters interpreted to fit the three dimensions of motivation defined in the framework. A discussion of this study and further research is provided. 1 Introduction Assessment of learners' motivation in online environments has been a challenge for both researchers...

Decreasing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace

...also violates Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom. According to the International Labour Office, a survey was done on February 2007 which shows that nearly 25% of the workers interviewed experienced sexual harassment with one-third of them men (Sexual Harassment). The report explores what sexual harassment is and provides possible ways to decrease sexual harassment in the workplace. Background The Canadian Supreme Court created the first legislation regarding discrimination based on sex on 1982. As the Canadian Human Rights Reporter reports, two food service workers, Janzen and Tracy Govereau, were waitresses at Pharos Restaurant during the fall of 1982 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was reported that the cook in the restaurant, Tommy Grammas, had been making sexual advancements to the two women. When they spoke about this to the manager, they were fired. The case was brought to the Supreme Court. The Court concluded that sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination. Platy Enterprises Ltd., the owners of the restaurant, was held liable for sexual harassment. Sexual harassment, as defined by the Court, is an unwelcome behaviour of sexual nature that detrimentally affects the work environment or leads to adverse job-related consequences for the victim of harassment (Canadian Human Rights Reporter Inc.). Purpose of the Report Sexual harassment is rarely talked about at workplaces. This silence may convey to others a wrong message that it does not exist anymore. However...
