Data Flow Graph Automation Using C-Atlas

...Abstract—This paper addresses the topic of methods for producing inter procedural static data flow graphs. The method used in this paper is a sort of progressive mining approach: A start location for the data flow edges is outlined, and through multiple iterations, the forward data flow step operation is taken on the universe, until no new paths have been found. I. INTRODUCTION New tools often provide novel approaches to longstanding problems. In the next update of C-Atlas, Ensoft intends to update the capabilities of C-Atlas. These improvements are intended to provide a customizable approach to evaluating a program’s design, structure, and security. Such an update seeks to address any number of problems. Analyzing a C program’s memory management is one such problem. This project would seek to use C-Atlas to better analyze C memory management. In memory leak (memory management) analysis, the user must show that for every path forward from an variable’s allocation, there exists at least one deallocation site for that variable. This task is trivial, unless the variable’s allocation and deallocation(s) are separated by a vast field of possible control flow. C-Atlas offers a flexible interface for data flow graph generation as a solution to this problem. Through this interface, one may then produce connected data flow graphs, allowing a single variable’s path to be traced through multiple functions. This visual aide can greatly increase the time efficiency of performing memory...

...step in making an investigatory project is selecting a topic to research on. If you are making an investigatory project in Chemistry, you may select the topic about a new substance in making soaps. | Using fruits as batteries - an example of an investigatory project. ... focusing on content, rather than style; on linguistics, rather than writing ability. It will also save you a lot of time because there will probably be less restructuring needed between your first draft and your final draft. GENERAL STRUCTURE: 1. Tell us what you’re gonna tell us. 2. Tell us! 3. Tell us what you told us. At a very basic level, this is all you need to know. The main point here is that your paper is not a mystery novel; there should be no ‘big reveal’ at the end. Rather, you want to set up the reader’s expectations so that they know up front what you’re trying to argue and, while reading your paper, will see if they’re convinced by how you make your arguments. The first step roughly corresponds (to the first paragraph of) your introduction and the third step roughly corresponds to (the first paragraph of) your conclusion (remember that this is an art, not a science, and these are guidelines, not rules). The bulk of your paper is in the second step. This is where you make your case: you state how you went about answering your research question (your Methods), what you found (your Results) and what you think about what you found (your Discussion). Every single section relates back to that one main point you’re telling your audience. Meyerhoff and Schleef (eds., 2010: The...
