This number was found by watering down a food dye that is found in the purple rain called red 40. Also with the equipment that was available wasn't able to measure the amount of caffeine directly because the light needed to measure the caffeine isn't in the color spectrum that can be shone in the spectrophotometer. To create the standard curve, the red 40 was watered down to find the Absorbance of the red 40. Three data points were found at 1mL of red 40 to 4mL of water, 2mL of red 40 to 3mL of water, and 3mL of red 40 to 2mL of water. These data points created a formula in the form of y=mx+b, I turn making it able to find the concentration of caffeine in the purple rain.
