“Swimmers take your mark,” as the referee says. A loud “BEEP” and a flash indicate that you dive off the block and start swimming your race. Gretna's swim team has a huge bond that can not be broken. We all are individuals swimming as a team to bring home these awards that we earned for our hard work. If the school had taken away our team, we would be devastated about it as a whole and we would do everything in our power to get our team back. I will be starting three topics on why we should be able to keep our sport: our bond, our hard work, and reasons not to take away Gretna’s swim team.
The term bond means: something, as an agreement or friendship, that unites individuals or peoples into a group; covenant. We swim, we eat, we play games, all as a team to form a bond. We fight we disagree but after every single practice and meet we come back together as a team and our team is a bond that can not be broken.
Our hard work as a team, we swim 6,000 yards everyday. Whether it's five-o'clock in the morning or four-o'clock in the evening we are always swimming. Even though we say we hate the sport deep down we love it. After every single day that we get out of the water, it feels so good that you accomplished a workout that most people can't even do. From the two years that we have started the program, we have gotten better and better day by day, week by week, and meet by meet. We walk by are swim mates with pride that we are held accountable for a team and we all hold each other up with a back bone. We all give each other time and dedication to one another in or outside of the pool. There is not another team that started from the bottom as we did and made to state our second year as individuals. We have all worked so hard and plan to go out this upcoming year to work even harder. So as an individual and as a team we are asking you not take our bond and our team
