He’s all hard eyes and sharp words. His voice is deep and rough, the opposite of his tall, lanky frame and gangly limbs even though he’s long past adolescence. He smokes like smokestack and swears like a sailor. He’s got more scars than he can count, and bruises galore, yet he’s got a worn-down rosary in his pocket and a letter from his mum that says ‘I love you.’ He chews his food thirty-eight times, no more and no less, and never steps on a crack. He forgets to shave half the days, a five o’clock shadow always bordering on twelve dusting his chin. He’s imperfect and outlandish and unorthodox; werewolves have one trait and yet he’s got a million.

He is Remus Lupin.

Greyback envies him.

That was it though. He didn’t come back for the boy, didn’t care. In fact, he assumed the boy was dead as soon as morning rose, knowing his father’s views on werewolves. He hadn’t expected Lupin Sr. to be capable of compassion, or anything other than bigotry. He underestimated Lupin Sr.

It was a long time before he saw Lupin again, and during that time, Lupin had done a lot. He was the first werewolf to go to Hogwarts, he made friends who didn’t care about his affliction, he even fought in a war. That war ended though; went with a blast as a spell backfired. The Potters were dead, the Dark Lord vanished, and a little orphan boy left without a home. Sirius Black took the fall as their secret keeper, but not before taking his longtime friend Peter Pettigrew and a street full of muggles with him. And what was left behind in this chaos? Lupin.
Not that Greyback knew this at the time. No, he was too focused on the rioting amongst his pack to care about the whole shebang with Potter, Pettigrew, and Black. He most certainly had not cared enough to dig beneath the surface and find his wayward son Lupin left alone in the

...This excerpt from Nabokov's Pnin focuses on the main character Pnin and how he is obsessed about his health and assumes every worst possibilities that could happen to him. In this extract Pnin is in a station waiting to board a bus to Cremona. Due to circumstances he has to leave his bag in the station and board the bus and that's when he starts getting paranoid and anxious that something is happening to him and he thinks to himself that it's because he left his bag in the station and something bad is going to happen to him. ...The Role of Sound in The Thin Red Line Terrence Malick attempts to recreate a part of the war in the pacific on screen through the use of a variety of techniques in The Thin Red Line (1998). One of the most prevalent of these techniques is the use of sound in the movie. Unlike the majority of war movies this movie doesn’t feature a soundtrack that glorifies the battle scenes. The presence of periodic narration and a focus on natural sounds like wind and water moving across the landscape also set this film apart. These audio features combine flawlessly with video to create a very deep and seemingly realistic depiction of the horrors of war. There is little, if any, soundtrack in the intense scenes of battle. This stands out in contrast to the blockbuster action flicks that portray intense action as thrilling and exciting with high tempo musical scores. By creating this contrast with typical action movies Malick lets the audience know that this movie should not go down the same way as the latest Rambo movie does. When a musical soundtrack is present it is often sad and low or it is associated with the environment of the film, such as native islanders singing or sticks drumming against one another. ...Narratives are meaningful stories that retell past events about specific characters (Fee and Stuart, 2003).  Biblical narratives are just like narratives except they are inspired by the Holy Spirit. Biblical narratives tell God's story. Biblical narratives have three components characters, plot, and plot resolution (Fee and Stuart, 2003). The characters include a protagonist, which is the main person in the story (Fee and Stuart,  2003).  An antagonist which is the person that causes the conflict and lastly, agonist which role is to support the main characters in the story.  A narrative main function is to retell a story using specific characters.      When interpreting narratives it is easy to make common mistakes associated with interpreting narratives. Although, there are many errors people make when interpreting narratives, I will only list three, which are moralizing, personalizing, and lastly misappropriation.     The first, error is moralizing. Moralizing assumes that moral teachings or principles for living can be taught from all scripture (Fee and Stuart, 2003). The second, error is personalizing. Personalizing involves reading a narrative and making it pertain to you, instead of realizing that the narrative tells a story about specific characters in that story (Fee and Stuart).
