The speakers in the video differentiate between a leader and management. The difference between the two is very clear; the manger thinks inside the box, while leaders think outside the box. Indeed, they are different from one another; however, there is always a gray area, where management has to also be a leader. A great example of this, is an elementary school teacher that has to have the her students cross the road and therefore must get the kids to cross the street before a vehicle comes and hits any kid, this would be where the teacher is utilizing her management skill set, and while also making sure the kids hold onto the rope, would her way of utilizing her leadership role. However, generally speaking leaders are the ones that create the change and management are the ones that manage the new changes.

I can personally relate to the content of this video, because last year the CEO of the hospital where I’m employed at, implemented changes in order to make sure the hospital is being run very cost-efficiently. Moreover, a few years back, when we were preparing for this fiscal year, along with the 2010 Medicaid cuts due to the 2010 health care law reductions to Medicaid disproportionate share payments, resulted in reducing the budget and for this reason, hospital employees weren’t given an opportunity to work any overtime. Managers were well aware of the changes that were implemented by the CEO, and floor managers in various units of the hospital made sure that no nurse on their unit was
