...Am I ready? Lamont Chivis ITT Technical Institute GS 1145 Strategies Mr. Demeter November 19, 2014 Being prepared for the career that you have trained and studied for so vigorously is not an easy task. You must have the greatest determination and concentration to set yourself up for accomplishing this task. I feel that I am not completely prepared at this time but I am most confident that by the time that I finish with my education I will have both the knowledge and the skill set for my dream career. The first thing that I needed to prepare myself for this change in my life was to first return to school to gain the education that I need to the tasks required for my career. This comes from the school I have chosen to give me these skills which is ITT Technical Institute. I strongly believe that this institute will provide me with the skills I will need like networking and system analysis. They will also provide me with business savvy skills to help me obtain the job in a professional way so I look like I have a sound head on my shoulders. It will be a long journey to make it to the end of this road but as long as I have strong support from my family, mainly my wife, I should be able to get by just fine. Having my wife in my corner is sometimes the main reason I keep putting up a fight in order to complete this task I have been trying to finish for most of adult life. She gives me the type of motivation and inspiration that anyone would need in times that require a...

...Summarizing a Video and Citing Sources GS 1145 Strategies for the Technical Professional October 13, 2014 The narrator Steven Johnson in the video “Where Good Ideas Come From” identifies several relevant situations (patterns) that he believes led to unusual levels of innovation or creativity. The introduction defines that Johnson looked for a shared/signature behavior or recurring patterns of innovations from the history of first cities to the biodiversity of coral reefs and rainforests. He said that these environments involved unusual levels of innovation. Through Johnson’s research and his quest for where good ideas are formulated, he mentioned certain moments of inspirations such as: a flash of insight, stroke of insight, epiphany, eureka, and lightbulb moments. However, he said that these moments share the basic assumption that an idea is a single thing. From here Johnson goes on to share situations (patterns) where he thinks good ideas are fostered: The Liquid Network: Johnson discussed that in early historical times that at a political dinner in a tavern provided a space or environment where a lot of ideas happened and it’s similar to coffeehouses of today. He also mentioned that the first coffeehouse in Oxford, England played a role in British culture for providing a space for not only consuming coffee but also a multi-space were people with different disciplines and backgrounds met to discuss anything from science to politics. Another example he used with regards...

Ben Kibler, MD Introduction In the last two decades, physical training and competitive opportunities have increased dramatically in junior, collegiate and professional tennis. This arose due to a multitude of factors, but much of it has stemmed from an increase in knowledge and understanding of scientifically based training programs focused on improving performance. As this focus on performance has increased, the area of recovery has received relatively limited focus. Recovery is a multi-faceted paradigm focusing on recovery from training—session to session, day to day and week to week. Recovery is also vitally important during training as well as in competition between matches and between days during multi-day tournaments. As more information is needed in the area of tennis specific recovery, the Sport Science Committee of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) sponsored an extensive evidence-based...
