...We did the gummy bear experiment to strengthen our knowledges of diffusion. We started the experiment by getting two same-colored gummy bears. Measurements were taken of each gummy bear. The gummy bear in the bag was 10 mm thick, 8 mm wide, 20 mm tall, and had a mass of 2,575 grams. The approximate volume was 1600 mm3. As for the gummy bear in water, it was 10 mm thick, 9 mm wide, 19 mm tall, and had a mass of 2.545. The approximate volume was 1710 mm3. After measuring, we put one gummy in a plastic bag, and the other in a cup with 150 ml of water. When we first put the gummy bear in the water, equilibrium had not been reached, because the concentration of water inside and outside the gummy bear were not balanced. Because of that, osmosis started, and the movement of water molecules began from outside the gummy bear, where there was a high water concentration, to inside the gummy bear, where there was a low water concentration. The water went into the gummy bear because the gummy bear acts as a semi-permeable membrane. Therefore, the water became diffused into the gummy bear, and the gummy bear grew and became more translucent....

...9th grade school year The 2012-2013 year was fun and educational. Even though some of the classes were hard, I still managed to pass it. I love learning new things and have fun in class and meeting new people every day and make new friends. In English, the teacher helped us prep for the GRAD TEST, which was very smart. While prepping for the GRAD TEST I gained some new knowledge like how to make the essay sound very interesting. I was very excited seeing my score that I got from the practice essay since the teacher grade the same like how the GRAD TEST will be graded. However, the history day essay was very fun, too. It was fun because I got to research about the topic that I picked and I picked “Birth Control”, which was a very interesting topic. Some of the information that I learn from “Birth Control” while I was researching was that between 1910 and 1915, 300,000 women died in childbirth. That’s more than all of the men who died in the U.S. wars from the Revolution to World War 1. History day essay was also fun because I get to use the information that I had research on “Birth Control” onto my essay that I am writing. In French, the teacher was very good at teaching because he is very easy going and I understand everything he is teaching. Another thing about my French teacher is that he is very nice and he gives out candy to his students. Also learning different languages gives us more knowledge on the culture and also improves our communication skills with others in...

...Acclaim for Chuck Palahniuk’s Choke “Just as dark and outrageous as his previous work. … His voice is so distinctive that he exists as a genre unto himself.” —The Washington Post “Palahniuk’s language is urgent and tense, touched with psychopathic brilliance, his images dead-on accurate. … [He] is an author who makes full use of the alchemical powers of fiction to synthesize a universe that mirrors our own fiction as a way of illuminating the world without obliterating its complexity.” —LA Weekly “Puts a bleakly humorous spin on self-help, addiction recovery, and childhood trauma. … Choke’s funny, mantra-like prose plows toward the mayhem it portends from the get-go.” —The Village Voice “Oddly, defiantly, addictive.” happily —Daily News “[Choke] shines a flashlight into America’s dark corners. … As darkly comic and starkly terrifying as your high school yearbook photo.” —GQ “Palahniuk is a gifted writer, and the novel is full of terrific lines.” —The New York Times Book Review “[Palahniuk’s] most enduring trait … is that marvelous quicksilver voice of his. … The exuberance of his language makes it still worthwhile to brave these often chilly and dark waters.” —The Oregonian “Choke is another welcome antidote to antiseptic consumer life, and you can’t blame it for grabbing you by the throat.” —Maxim “Palahniuk is a cult writer in the truest sense.” —Entertainment Weekly “His subversive riffs conjure a kind of jump-cut cinema of the diseased imagination, resulting...

...towards mastery in the practice of problem solving Assessments MODULE 4 Technology 1. You are the manager of 2 small stores with production functions q = K¼L¼ and a larger store with production function q = 2K¼L¼. You hire capital for $4, labour for $1. When you took over this role, your boss told you that Q = 24 was the profit maximizing output for this multi-plan firm: 24 = q1 + q2 + q3. Now, the price of labour rises to $4. Provide (i) Isoquant/Isocost diagrams, (ii) Total Cost and (iii) Marginal Cost diagrams. Illustrate the substitution effect (point a to b) and output effect (point b to c) on these diagrams. Explain why your firm uses less capital even when the price of labour increases. (September 2010) For the production function q = K2 + L2 (A) Demonstrate that the elasticity of substitution is negative. (B) Provide a labelled diagram showing the q = 100 isoquant (C) Briefly explain what a negative value means for σ 3. 4. A special production function is q = min( 80K, 4L1 + 2L2). Discuss the production process described by this function. Is this production function constant returns to scale? Five-year-old Jack has set up a hot chocolate stand outside his home. ...Ok. First, I just want to say that I think it is so cool that you guys have this awesome forum. I’ve never had a good reason to post in it before, but, well, I’m in Mr. McMurtry’s 10th grade honors English class (go me), and our half-year fiction project is due just before winter break, which is coming up. Ok. So, before you read this, you should know that I already asked Mr. McMurtry if I could write my fiction project in an experimental science fiction style and make lots of horrible, malicious, false, and hateful blood libels against the Mormons, and he asked what I had in mind, and I told him that I thought it could be cool to write a story that consisted entirely of a War between Mormons and Scientologists and Atheist Texan Cowboys in the Future, and he said that would be fine. I knew he’d let me do it, as his homosexuality is a well known fact to the student body, and therefore his concomitant openness to avant-guard art and literature and experimentation and stuff like that. Not like the other English teacher, Ms. Nichols, who is the sort of totally sexless spinster that makes her students write poems about Jesus, which I’m pretty sure is fucking illegal, although I’m sure nobody in this hick town cares. God and Football, all the way. Ok, so, then I didn’t do any work on it at all until last night. We had to do a one-page outline a few weeks ago, which is so stupid, so I did it on the bus and I have no idea what I wrote, so last night I just started over from scratch...
